“Lodge Was Great”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

We stayed in the lodge with another family, so we made all of our own meals, so I can't comment on the "breakfast" part of the bed and breakfast ... but the "bed" part was great. Excellent, clean, new, comfortable linens, pillows, and mattresses. Wonderful towels and personal care items. Very friendly owners who were quick to meet any requests we had.

Downside = only one bathroom and it has only a big, iron bathtub in the middle of the room. Really missed having a "real" shower and having a second toileting option for the eight people we had staying in the lodge. Also recommended to the owners that they add in some dressers / tables in the rooms so that clothing, etc. can be kept off of the floor. Especially b/c this is a RUGGED location (read: there are bugs! it's life in the woods!), I really missed having a place to put our clothing.

Still, the plusses FAR outweighed any minor inconveniences. Five minute drive to Silverwood---could NOT be more convenient. The kids LOVED LOVED LOVED the animals and the wonderful fire pit and s'mores and horse-shoe pit all right out our front door. Quiet. Beautiful. Full size, well stocked kitchen worked perfectly once we provided our food.

If you think of it as really REALLY comfortable and convenient camping, you'll be thrilled. If you're looking for a nice corporate Hilton hotel experience, you'll be disappointed. It is exactly as described and is a wonderful location that I would recommend without hesitation. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The cabin slept all eight of us just fine: two couples in the double beds / one little kid in the ro...

We so appreciate your help in how to make our facilities more comfortable. And we appreciate your kind and well chosen words. Yup, bugs. Yup, not Hilton. Just the farm. We loved having you and would welcome you back with open arms. Thank you! Daryl

Wonderful rooms, great location, delicious breakfast, super clean, but most of all Daryl and Al are the most gracious hosts and we look forward to staying here every summer! Our kids love this place too and have memories that will last for years to come.

This place is clean, beds are very comfortable and the hosts are friendly. The hosts really go all out and make the experience exceptional. Kids love the farm animals and the 'home' feel of the place. It is also only a 5 minute drive from Silverwood away from the traffic. This is a big bonus when you go to Silverwood early and stay late. Thanks Al and Daryl for the wonderful hospitality! We'll see you again soon.

My family along with two other families occupied the entire main house and were exceedingly satisfied with our stay. The entire home is clean and extremely comfortable. And the kids had a wonderful time wandering around the farm while the parents lounged on the front porch or sat in front of the bonfire. This is my second time staying with Al & Daryl and they always make the stay so pleasant. They have truly perfected the art of providing just the right amount of privacy but remaining available when necessary. They truly make it feel like a home away from home. Our group has already booked for next year because that's how much we loved our stay!

We stayed here for two nights while on our Silverwood trip. We stayed in the bunk house. Its the very front cabin. Its two stories with two bedrooms. There were 10 of us and we fit in their pretty comfortably. The cabin has no a/c which we didn't find out until a week before we left. At first we were a little worried since it was suppose to get up to 90 degrees while we were there. It ended up not being a problem at all. We were at Silverwood most of the day but when we got back we opened the windows and turned all of the fans on (provided by owners) and it cooled off really fast. In fact at night it was pretty chilly. The first night we got back from silverwood we had a dish of goodies watiting for us on the table from the owners. Such a nice surprise after a long day. They also dropped off goodies the next night too. The owners came by and asked us if we needed anything and if we did to just let them know and they would get it. Which they always did. There are lots of animals all around the cabin (fenced up). The kids loved it. They held the bunnies, fed the goats, got to pet the mini horses. There is also a tire swing hanging outside on the tree which they loved too. The drive to Silverwood from this cabin is about 5 minutes which is fantastic. We plan on staying here EVERY time we visit silverwood which is hopefully every summer! I highly recommend renting one of these cabins.

Our family stayed in the Forest Suite, featuring log beds--a king and twin trundles (which our 7 and 13-year old loved). It was a very large room, tastfully decorated and very peaceful and comfortable. Daryl and Al were absolutely the perfect hosts and made us feel at home from the minute we arrived for our three-night stay. Each breakfast and evening snack was lovingly prepared and delicious. The animals on the farm, outdoor games and "after dark" circle around the fire making smores and visiting with other guests, was all simply wonderful. Our original plan was to visit a relative, spend a day at the Silverwood theme park, and then check Athol off our "to do" list. However, because of the outstanding experience at Cedar Mountain and the extraordinary kindness and hospitality of Daryl and Al, "we will be back."

The B&B run by Daryl and Al Is nothing short of absolutely fantastic. Regardless of their extremely convenient location, their beautiful home is beautifully located just enough off the beaten path to make you feel like you are far into the countryside. Delicious and nutritious breakfast to start your day and numerous farm animals (the kids -baby goats- are the cutest things!), trails to hike, and roads to mountain bike are enough to keep you occupied during the day. Relaxing around an open fire at night, and finishing it off with the best sleep away from home (I have ever had) will complete your night.
The best B&B I've yet had the pleasure to stay.

Daryl, Al, thank you for giving us these 3 wonderful and memorable days!
