The crab leg buffet is more than worth the wait in line. However if you are looking for a vegas style casino... I would consider going to one of the other casinos located locally. There are only a few tables and the rest is three floors of slot machines. One plus is it in Illinois so little if any smoking...

We went to the casino on a weeknight right after having Fast Eddie's for dinner. It is a small casino, but it is a boat, so that is to be expected. It was moderately busy considering it was a weeknight. They have 3 floors of gaming, with the table games on the second floor. They had all of the standards: Roulette, Blackjack, Craps, and Mississippi Stud. All of the table games were $5, which was pretty cool.

Pretty decent selection of slot machines, from pennys on up. We were a little disappointed that they didn't have any nickel video poker, that's something we usually look for. The payout on the video poker they had was pretty good though...8 for full house and 6 for flush. We managed to win a little bit on that, so that's always a plus.

Complimentary/self-serve soda fountain on the first floor was another plus.

The casino and Fast Eddie's (separate review) were really cool. If you're going to drive all the way up to Alton, you really need to do both to make the evening complete. We will definitely be back.

Nice boat not real crowded. Alot of older people. Not alot of
variety of slots and when we were there, only 2 card games
going on. Mississippi stud and three card poker. Black jack
and roulette was not busy. We were surprised for a Sunday
afternoon that there was not more going on.

The Argosy Casino is a small older casino. The slot machines are not really spread out and that makes for a crowded feel. We've never had a waitress ask if we needed a drink. Our time spent there is short.....not a lot of slot machine choices. Like I said...it's small. It is on the river...while most casinos today are a "boat in a moat". If you like cozy..this casino is for you. I will say we do win a buck or two. We enjoy the time we spend there but prefer the bigger casinos.

This was our first trip to this casino. It was a nice experience. It is an older casino. None of our group came away a big winner, but none of us are big gamblers either. We drove the Great River Road in the afternoon looking for eagles that migrate each year to the area. We had dinner at Castelli's in Alton (which was delicious) and spent a few hours at the casino.
