“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

I'm at this hotel now- checking out in the AM. I highly recommend this hotel to business and pleasure travelers. The hotel staff is nice and professional. The common areas, grounds, and rooms are very clean. I will be back in two weeks and two weeks after that. This is my hotel of choice in the Aurora area!

We booked our hotel through a third party site, which we have done numerous times with no issue at all. This time we checked in with one lady that was Amazing, once we got to our room the keys did not work, I went all the way back down and she had wrote the wrong room number on the cards, (no big deal) got th the right room and it was a smokeing room with one bed. We asked to be moved since we have asthma and were already getting headaches and the lady said that we would have to call back in 20 mins because she was getting ready to leave. I understand that we have all been there at some time or another so I waited. When I called back the new lady answered the phone and said that since we booked through a third party that we were not allowed to move rooms. We were treated like second class citizens because we didn't book it through them. Shen then hung up on me. I called back down there and asked if there was some spary or something that could be done and she said she would send someone up. 10 mins passed no one arrived and we were waiting to leave but didnt really want to leave till it was done. Called back down and she was rude and told us we would have to wait. Finally about 30 mins later the housekeep showed up. She was sweet and sprayed the room and took the filters out of the air conditioners (they were beyond nasty looking) and said she was going to wash them. After that whole ordeal we were itching to go swimming. The pool was tiny and went from 3 feet to 4.5 feet max. The bottom of the pool was chipping and was sharp in spots. My daughter loves the hot tub but we were informed that he had just emptied it and re-filled it so it was ICE cold. Why wouldn't you do that after it was closed for the night?!? So the pool was a big bummer. Later that night we called to ask for an extra blanket since my child was now to sleep on a couch. She very rudly agreed as said she would send someone up with two pillows and a blanket. It was 8 ish and my daughter was sleepy and the blankets that were on the bed were tightly tucked under the mattress. After 15 mins and no one bringing anything up we called down there and they must have caller idea because she knew who was calling and she informed be that they would be up shortly she was still talking to the guy who was to bring them up and that it would be awhile. I told her I had a child that needed to go to bed and didn't really want someone knocking once she fell asleep and she grunted and hung up. The guy did bring them up within 5 mins after that and apologized for her.

The breakfast was good but it was packed with people, not the hotels fault but it didn't help that the staff was taking food aswell as the patrons.

The basketball court has no hours so that kept us up late, and the lamp shades had water damage on them.

When we checked out she asked how our stay was and we said not the best and they offered us something from the small store, we declined as the last thing we needed at 10am was candy but the offer was nice.

All in all we would never stay there again. That one lady ruined it, she was beyond rude and degrating.

Emily-
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced while staying here. However, you bringing these to our attention is good, as we strive to provide the best customer service which we pride ourselves in. Your feedback about our front desk staff was taken very seriously and we have trained the employee on this issue to ensure that this never happens again. Staff has also been trained to shut down public areas at 10pm to ensure there is no disruption to our guests' sleep. Should you be in the area again, I would love to have the opportunity to sit down and discuss our resolutions to the issues at hand.
Thank you again!

Stayed here for a week during a business trip. The entire kitchen suite is a nice change from a regular hotel you normally get. There was a full breakfast in the mornings and a beer and wine reception in the evening with appies. Very close to other dining establishments and stores. Only draw back was all of the construction on the main road leading to the hotel and the 6 lane state road. Took a while to get out of the area but that is certainly no fault of the hotel.

Hotel is close to alot of business so it is very quite at night and has a beautiful pond behind. Its a very nice walk and is a great way to unwind after a long day of work. Room rate was booked as a group so we had a substantual discount but the regular rate was 299.99 a night which i find about 100 higher than it should be.

If you get a good rate stay here, if not keep driving there is alot of other nice hotels in the area.

Room Tip: all rooms are quiet as there is little to no traffic in the area

Check in was easy and quick. Hotel is very clean and neat - room was very nice.. Amenities are a little on the sparse side, compared to other hotels of this brand, but for a short stay, it's fine. Breakfast had a lot of choices! The walls are kinda thin, thou - I could hear the music in the bathroom next to mine quite clearly! Check out was a breeze - friendly staff.

When we arrived we had issues with the two girls on the night shift. Not the situation but from their attitude dealing with it. They kept speaking in Spanish and cursing, unaware that I know some Spanish. But the rest of the trip was amazing! Everyone else we encountered on the staff was helpful and kind. Even though check-in was a bit of a challenge if we were in the area again, I do believe we would chose this hotel again. It was close to my husband's event and not a bad drive to downtown Chicago for downtown for free time visits to the Lincoln Park Zoo and the Field Museum.

Room Tip: Great breakfast

The management and staff are very helpful with any questions or needs that you have. They provide a good breakfast with many choices and serve dinner 3 nights a week, which is included for free. Your walking distance from the train station, which you can get to Chicago in a hour for $7.00 round trip. The trains not only a great deal, convienant, air conditioned and saves you from paying $30.00 to park a car. The hotel is very clean, with a great indoor pool, hot tub, basketball court, fitness center, business center, free washer/dryer and best of all a free 2 hour happy hour. The back patio is a great place to unwind.

I stayed 2 nights on business and had a studio with kitchenette.

Check in was quick and friendly. It is an older property but clean and well maintained.

Bed was a little saggy but comfortable. Room had a fridge, stove top, and dishwasher. TV was a little hard to see from the sofa and bed.

Free Internet was a little slow for the stay. Free Breakfast was good with a variety of options.
