Comfort Suites is our usual Aurora hotel. Pretty nice and fairly good value for the dollar. Breakfast is served every morning and is about two notches above "continental." Not Haute Cuisine, but better than pastries and coffee. About equal to McDonald's. They change the They also began serving hot soup/chili in the evenings, which was a pleasant surprise. One of my kids loves soup, so he hit this offering every night.
We stayed five nights this trip. The room is typical for a Comfort Suites. Our favorite feature of this hotel is it's proximity to the train station (about 100 yards away). Because this is the end of the line for the trains, you do not get the typical noise associated. One of our favorite things to do while visiting the area is to take a train into Chicago. They terminate in Union Station which is an architectural wonder and we always enjoy seeing. We then cross the street from Union Station to CVS to buy an all day CTA bus pass (about $6 per head). We take the city buses to Miracle Mile, Navy Pier, Chinatown, and all the Museums. Willis (Sears) Tower is within walking distance.
Anyway, back to the hotel: It is NOT in a bad neighborhood, and walking to the nearby casino is really not a problem. Never had a problem, but it is also not in the high rent district either. I would appreciate it better if they had double queen beds instead of double-doubles as we travel as a family. The rooms all do have fold out sofa beds and microwaves, which is a plus. The kids love the pool and jacuzzi, the decor is Train Nouveau (quaint). We really prefer the first or second floor, as the lobby stairs are accessible to both. The third floor is less picturesque due to the lack of the stairs.
Staff is always good. Rates are pretty good for Aurora. Decor is nice. Food is better than most. Above average, but not spectacular.
