“Great German Food”

We loved the food served family style at this restaurant. It was just wonderful. Our glasses were kept full and the kraut and pickled beets were scrumptious.

“Wiener Snitzel - The Old Fashioned Way”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

I have eaten there before, we ate there again, and look forward to coming back in the future. Lunch was great, and the service was endearing. It should be the #1 restaurant.

“Pretty Darn Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

The wife and I ate lunch at the Ronneburg Restaurant while strolling the quaint village of Amana. Not outstanding but pretty darn good food for the money. The wife had a chicken schnitzel sandwich and I had their rueben sandwich. Both were very tasty along with the cole slaw that came with the meal. This is very casual dining with superb wait staff and excellent service. If you are ever in this area to visit the Amana Colonies you might want to consider having a lunch or dinner at this restaurant.

“Pretty good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014

Not outstanding but pretty good. I find this to be true in a lot of German places and Amish ones too. I have had more upscale German food but this is comfort food. We ordered a couple platters versus family style. There was a good amount of food. We really liked the cole slaw. The fried potatoes were just like my grandmother used to make (she was German!). Could definitely eat those again. My fried chicken was average. My husband enjoyed his pork. My husband did rave about how flavorful his rhubarb pie was (no strawberry in it - just rhubarb for purists). Prices are reasonable and we had a 10% off coupon. So many places charge more than $2 for a glass of iced tea and they don't do that here .

“Good but was hoping for better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2014

We met friends while passing through Cedar Rapids and decided to stop by The Ronneburg based on prior recommendations.

The place was very busy and the host, waitresses, and bus staff seemed almost overwhelmed.

For a "classic" German restaurant, the food was just OK. I felt most of the food was bland and missing that German flare. There were five of us at our table and we all thought the same.

Unless you order a specific meal, everything comes family style. This is good for portion size if you're hungry.

If you're passing through Cedar Rapids once, you may want to try it. If you've already tried it, you probably will agree with my review.
