We camped in a 31’ motorhome towing a tiny Fiat 500. The gent who parked us had me park with the right wheels & stabilizers on the grass and with the Fiat behind our 25’ power cord would not reach the post. I re-parked after he left so the wheels and stabilizers were on gravel and the power cord would reach. I think they wanted us to rent both back to back spaces. The hostess drew me a map of where bus and RV parking was for the 2 major restaurants, however when I got there there was none and no where to turn around so had to go down a narrow residential street slowly with limbs hitting the top of our motorhome. We did not use the sewer connection as it too was at the very rear of our site and twenty feet of sewer hose would not have reached. The wife had had a fall earlier in the week and uncoupling the “toad” and having her drive it was not an option with her arm in a sling. We likely would not return.

Jamie S, Guest Relations Manager at Amana RV Park & Event Center, responded to this reviewResponded 20 June 2018

Thank you for letting us know about the "hiccups" during your stay at the Amana RV Park & Event Center. Our campsites are set-up back to back and the majority of campers don't have any issues hooking up their utilities. If you stay with us again, please alert staff of this issue and we would be happy to help. We apologize for the low tree limbs by some of the restaurants in Amana. We can let businesses know their areas might be occupied by large units so keeping trees properly trimmed would be fantastic. Hope to see you down the road!

Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Well laid out and spacious RV parking sites and good tent sites. Large, level sites with full hookups, tables and fire pits. Good laundry facility. This campground doesn't feel crowded even when there are a lot of people staying there. We've stayed three times in two years and it has always been nice. Lots of space to walk the dogs.

Room Tip: As with most RV parks that must be rated as a hotel in Trip Advisor, there are no rooms. Most of the RV sites are equally good.

This place is big. We were here on business during Octoberfest weekend so it was busy, but well taken care of. Gravel sites, relatively level. Surrounded by corn fields which was cool. Staff was very helpful. This may sound silly, but well placed multiple trash dumpsters, easy to get to. Fair price for full hook up. Not as many picnic tables as sites. I saw someone grab a table from an empty site, since they didn't have one. We will be going back again.

We try to get to the Amana Colonies RV Park at least once a year. Each time we explore a bit more of the area. First is the Amana Colonies - good for a day or two of exploration. Then we went to Cedar Rapids - LOTS to do there and we thoroughly enjoyed the Veterans Museum. Off to Williamsburg for the outlet shops, and a few wineries nearby too!! Iowa City is always worth the trip - a football game, the history of the city, Coralville Mall, etc. We have never been at a loss for things to do. The campground really needs a better area for a playground, a swimming pool, and a game center for the kiddos. Trees are finally growing for some shade (we started there when there were no trees!). We have had times wherein we were given horrible spots, and other times fantastic spots. If you don't like where you are at, go talk to the office. If it's not crowded they will move you. One year though it was packed for Oktoberfest. We made reservations 9 months prior, yet were put in a spot where we opened our door right into the back side of the next RV - seriously about 8 feet between RV's! And out in the grassy area! Across the road though our friends were parked with nobody either side of them! We needed 50 amp tho and they had 30 amp - didn't have a frog down to a 30 that year so we were stuck. Another year we were out in the open with full hookups, no neighbors within 5 spaces around us, and we had a blast! It is a really good park - great for Rally's or Events with all the buildings to rent. I gave a 4 because there isn't anything for kids - needs a central playground, game room, swimming pool, maybe miniature golf, stuff like that.

I agree with the reviews from others ... a great place for a night or two, as that's all the shopping I can stand with my wife, but not a week-long-type of destination. Unless you're part of a big group, like a rally or family reunion or something similar. Then it's a 5+ star. This park is built for the big event. Lots are roomy, but trees are few & far between. However, there are about 500 spaces and several event buildings. I would definitely stay here again but I doubt we'll revisit the area anytime soon. Plus, better-than-average wifi, although we were here during a slow period. I'm always concerned with 500+ devices attached to any system typically found in RV parks.
