My husband and family love to dine out. This is one of our fav spots in Ankeny. Been there twice now on Sundays for their top notch brunch and bottomless mimosas! We love it there. Good varieties of food, the place is huge, great scenery and we love seeing Lisa, one of the assist. Managers! She’s the best and will always make the experience better for all there with a smile on her face. We will totally be back and recommend this place for you to eat at!

We visited The Fletcher about a year ago for dinner. It was less than remarkable, but since it was relatively new then, we decided to give it another try.
To our dismay, not much improved since our first visit. While the décor is nice and the patio looked inviting, the food was average at best. I ordered one of their specialty burgers, and while substantial in size, the flavor was bland. Fries arrived warm at best and were a bit on the soggy side. Wife's meal was equally bland.
Service this visit was far better,, but considering how terrible service was our first visit, it is not really saying much. We will not be waiting for a third strike.
The bar seemed to be the place to be that night.

We were looking for a place to enjoy the outdoors for dinner while traveling on I-35 and decided to stop in Ankeny at The Fletcher. They have a quaint outdoor seating area with string lights and a couple TVs and nice music.… just what we were looking for! The server was attentive and drinks were refilled before asking. The wait time seemed normal for 7 PM in the summer. Our party had ribs with fries and coleslaw, Cobb salad and Patty Melt with fries. Fries were large and really good, the slaw was rather boring and the patty melt and ribs great! The Cobb salad was bad…the lettuce was limp and the so-called chicken tenders were over fried with hardly any meat on them. For a Cobb salad the lettuce pieces were huge. Usually they are chopped. Just not fresh or tasty. A glimpse of the indoor area was beautiful and large. We enjoyed the outdoor area but the food just wasn’t anything special.

Let me start by stating, despite poor experiences, I am usually willing to give placed a second chance. My first experience at The Fletcher was subpar. It was beautiful out and they patio looked inviting so we put our name in and grabbed drinks in the bar. Pleasant bartender and drinks were decent so we ordered some onion rings while we waited. I can say I’ve. Ever seen or tasted a saddest excuse for onion rings. Undercooked and barely any coating and dripping with fryer oil. Thankfully our table opened and the bartender agreed the rings were bad and they were removed from our sight and bill. The patio experience was similar decent service but we split a pizza that had less flavor than a frozen one from the store.
So with a short window to grab food this week, we were once again enticed by the patio and the location so we tried The Fletcher again. Patio and inside dining area were half full so we got seated immediately and were greeted by our server quickly. It went downhill fast from there. We ordered a chicken Cobb salad and chicken sandwich with side salad. Literally 30 minutes passed and the server noticed we hadn’t got the side salad and brought one out with wrong dressing. We said it was wrong and she said another salad was coming it they were waiting for croutons? We asked what that had to do with the dressing. She got pissy and said she would just switch dressing. That was it and having been there 40 minutes and still no entrees and now a pissy server. We said don’t bother we didn’t have anymore time to wait and she curtly said “fine!” As we began to leave we were approached by a frumpy looking man who stopped us to say the food would out soon. We declined and he said he could box it up for us to take at no charge, last ditch effort but never addressed the issue or asked us our side and what upset us-just throw “free” out there.
It seems to be a popular place and maybe we just had two bad experiences or maybe you can polish a turd but it’s still a turd!

We have a monthly dinner and dominoes date with another couple. Our ground rule is that we need to try a place none of us have tried before, give it a rating following dinner, then head to one of our houses for dessert, dominoes, and adult beverages. Our rating system is 1-5 stars. We've been doing this for a couple years now and this is the first time we all came to consensus on a 5 STAR RATING! Our waiter was incredibly attentive, the food was delicious and quickly served, and the atmosphere was a delightful change! We will be back!
