I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Sofitel Hamma Garden while in Algiers to attend a conference. Aside from an initial hiccup locating the hotel shuttle at the airport, I had a pleasant stay. I was in a room on the 8th floor, which was ostensibly non-smoking but towels still smelled of smoke, and it seemed that I could occasionally smell smoke from a neighboring room during the afternoon. The gym was small but decently equipped, and the pool looked nice although I didn't use it. Staff were all pleasant and accommodating, making for a comfortable stay. I felt that breakfast was overpriced, and wish an a la carte option was available. 2500 DZD for coffee, cereal, and pastries was a bit steep in my estimation. Didn't have dinner in any of the restaurant hotels to be able to comment. Some updating/refreshing is perhaps in order (slight mildew in shower, drain plug in bath didn't work, etc.) but those were minor issues and didn't detract from the overall stay.
