“A fantastic base for our Moroccan adventure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed in Morocco for 10 days, and found the Atlantic a great base in Agadir. It is away from the main road, so is lovely and peaceful but still within waking distance to the beach and bars and restaurants.

The hotel is basic, but for a 3 star and at the price we paid it was a fantastic find. The breakfast is continental with lovely Moroccan pastries, but after a few days it can get a bit boring as choice us limited. However, you can eat breakfast by the pool, in th e restaurant or in the small den above the pool area.

The rooms are basic and unfortunately no air conditioning, but because they are tiled and we had a room on the pool side it was quite cool in the evenings anyway, but I can imagine in summer heat it can be a bit much. The pool itself is small, but there is plenty of seating around and the good served is nice and petty decent prices for a hotel. However near in mind you cannot bring in your own food or drink under hotel policy. They also have a "spa", however this is a room converted for a lovely Moroccan lady to perform facials/massages, etc. would recommend the massage - a great way to start relaxing!

All in all a great little find away from the main drag but close enough not to feel out of the buzz too much! we would definitely recommend it and stay again if we return to Agadir.

Room Tip: Contact the hotel directly once you have booked and they are happy to help! All rooms are quiet, poo...

This was a perfect visit for us. Great welcome and service from all the staff. Short walk to their private beach area which was secure. We had a comfortable clean room and the restaurant food was good quality and reasonably priced. The pool is as refreshing as it looks.
Nabile, Moustaffa, Abdel-Krim, Imed and Ahmed were very friendly and helpful. The hotel arranged two trips for us and we got exactly what we asked for with no pressure to take optional extras. We would certainly go again. The November sunshine was perfect.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have more sunshine hours, especially in the afternoon.

Had a great time at this hotel which has a friendly Morrocan atmosphere. The pool is quite small but there were never many people around it which meant there were lots of loungers available. The room was fine, very clean. The staff were extremely friendly making a real effort to make your holiday special, a small tip goes a long way! A lot of people on here are moaning about bringing in outside drinks - put them in your beach bag with a towel over, drama over! The beach is a ten minute walk away and there is a section of beach roped off just for Atlantic Hotel guests, plenty of sunloungers and umbrellas. There are lots of nice restaurants next to the beach, hotel food is nice too. Breakfast is fine, choice of cereal, breads, criossants, yoghurts, cheese, ham etc.

The hotel is well positioned about a quarter mile from the beach and near the centre of the resort. The public area is pleasant as are the rooms. On our first full day, with temperatures in the high 30s, we came back to the hotel with a half drunk bottle of soft drink. We were frog marched to reception by the door man, and after an exchange between them in Arabic, told that we had broken the hotel rules, I asked were this had been incorporated into our contract and was pointed towards a tiny notice 12 feet away where there was a tiny notice with no graphic. The receptionist then said that he would not speak to me and that he would speak to my wife, and insult anywhere, but I suspect more so in an Arab country. At this point we walked off. Having wanted to try the restaurant and bar, we resolved not to spend any money in the hotel and didn't. Every time we saw the same two receptionists we received scowls. Completely unnecessary and unprofessional.

I came to Agadir to meet my girlfriend there. We know each other since some month, and I wanted to be with her. Well at least during the day, as she is a local girl and needs to be home at night.
But even during day I was not allowed to have her as my guest in my room! Amazing! You rent a place and there are also lots of un-married couples around in the hotel, but we were not allowed to go up to my room at the modest time of 11 am.
I could not belief this, but finally they called the police on us! Our own hotel called the police on us, as we are criminals? For what?
Well they tried to explain us that for locals other norms do apply. When I was asking with laws do allow unmarried foreign couples, to rent a hotel room and which law does forbid so for locals, I did not get an answer.
Finally we paid 300 Dirham "Bakschisch" and were let go.....
What a joke.....I would not recommend to go to such a place. I mean if they would have told me that this is hotel policy beforehand, OK.
But I assumed that what applies for tourists applies to locals as well. Finally you can get trapped at any stage with those unwritten laws….
There might be better hotels out there, which do not enforce their moral, views and values on you. Well I would expect that any well managed hotel does not. But apparently the management does not care. So I would not go there….it is a risk!

Room Tip: Moral police like in Iran, be careful.

this small pretty hotel with a delightful staff and pool was very friendly and I had a good stay, even tho it is a 10 minute walk downhill to the beach and well away from the main nightlife.

However, the doorman stopped me on the way in when I had a bottle of water in my bag and said it was 'forbidden.'
The receptionists also said it WAS NOT ALLOWED to have drink and food in your room which you had not bought in the hotel, as the bar/ kitchen shut at 10pm..... the arrogant rude manager said this was common hotel policy worldwide, I said oh no |i dont think so. they even sent someone up to our room to see ' if we had any cups'.

when I pointed out that this was not in any description on the web, and that the receptionist had not mentioned it when we checked in, she pointed to a minute sig on the wall. this was changed the next day to a massive picture of a female figure with a bag full of shopping with a big black diagonal line thro it.

Agadir itself is a pretty tatty 70's concrete housing estate type place and I wouldnt go back, especially to a hotel where you are not alllowed a bottle of water or your duty free booze in your room.
Also the service lift was exrtrememly loud and they started using it at 8am for a couple of hours, inyermittently and the light switches in one room, and the window shutter switch in another were hangin off the wall. poor stuff.

Luckily they didnt find our stash of a kettle, teabags and cups which we bought.
