“Excellent quality and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

All round an excellent hotel.Basic bedroom had large very comfortable bed. Turn down service (with nice attention to detail) and free water every evening. Not great view but I didn't go to a hotel to look out of the window.
We went over the Easter weekend and were really surprised that the hotel was still relatively quiet.
Pool area has large single and double size loungers as welll as shaded "4 posters" as well as double hammocks dotted all over. Beyond that a large grass area with sunken sitting/dining areas to eat or get out of the sun a little and more hammocks in the sun. Down to the private beach area with more single/double loungers.
Service by pool we found excellent (a tip helps but that is universal surely) towels delivered and drinks and food as required. Little tip - find a pool attendant you like, tip him nicely and he will look after you for your stay.
It can get windy there, but that simply serves to take the edge of the heat so still use plenty of lotion. The downside means that the beach isn't such a good idea - although it is clean, not pebbled, and pretty quiet.
3 restaurants (+ poolside snack restaurant) were fine although it being a 5 star hotel were much more expensive than in town - where there is much better food than you might expect,
Spa was very nice, again not cheap but you shouldn't expect cheap in a 5 star,
Nightclub with live band 6 nights a week (you can't hear them anywhere else in hotel) was very quiet but large and very comfortable.
One minor problem was sorted out quickly and with a nice gesture of apology. Couldn't ask for more.
They DO take a credit card imprint when you arrive but you don't have to use that card to pay your bill at the end - of there is one.
I suspect you can arrange to pay as you go otherwise.
Small taxi into town about 5 minutes but you MUST agree a price as you get in or you will get ripped off. Don't be afraid to say no if prce too high.
Oh and don't be precious about taxis - think dodgems but with less comfort. Nervous drivers should walk.
Lovely hotel - a walk all along the (very clean) beach promenade into town showed us that this seemed to be the most luxurious all along the front.

Room Tip: Room 77 - end of corridor but opposite door to pool area! Not noisy either.

A beautiful courtyard/lobby area with a retractable roof and lovely pool/garden going down to the beach make this a really attractive hotel. Beds, hammocks and loungers are arranged over a large area and make the idea of doing very little very appealing. The beach is big and great for jogging or a stroll. It's about three miles down the beach to the centre of Agadir. There was a pretty constant breeze off the Atlantic that kept temperatures down all the time I was there.
The rooms are not huge and are rather dark.
Service is what I've come to expect in Morocco, very friendly but slow. Food was good especially the fish. There is a small bar in draughty area and a rather palatial nightclub (well patronised and worth patronising) downstairs.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the end of a wing as they have a great view over the beach - numbers 219-222 on...

The hotel is very well built, wonderful with very large swimming pools and walking distance to the beach. My room had a pool and a beach view, cannot complain, but rooms are much too noisy, you can hear TV, talks, and even people on top of you walking... A true nightmare when you pay such a price !!! People are very nice, polite, but they miss the order, and/or forget your order (15 minutes to get an expresso that I have asked 3 times, waited for 20 minutes outside and nobody came to serve me, waited at the restaurant pool more than 15 minutes and ordered directly from the Chef because I was on a hurry, a wrong order while I was dinning with business people and they proposed to redo it in ...... 12 minutes !!! Nice for a professional dinner whereas you expect to dine all together...). Worse is that I have seen 2 servers (different moment which increase the probability) going to the toilet and did not wash their hands.

A friend and myself treated ourselves to a short break to destress and relax and we found the perfect location in the Sofitel. The beds were amazingly comfortable and room clean and welcoming.
The staff were efficient and friendly and we loved the lounge area which was decorated with fountains and rose petals. The guitarist who played arabian music most evenings created such a lovely atmosphere we did not want to go anywhere else. The buffet food changed each evening and was of a very high standard. Outside the pool area offered 4 poster bed loungers , Hammocks as well as plenty of sunloungers we were spoilt for choice. One section of the pool was heated to atleast 90 degrees a fantastic heat just right for when we went in March. My friend enjoyed the yoga classes around the pool. At no time did we feel uncomfortable being two woman on our own in Agadir the Moroccans seemed more westernised than in some of the other arabic countries that I have visited.

This hotel is by far the most romantic and paradise-like I have ever been in. The lounge area is so gorgeously decorated with rose pedals in the fountain, a hundred candlelights, the beautiful Arabic live music, mint tea served to you. It really made me relax just watching it all from one of the comfortable sofas. Several people who we checked in with asked us several times how we were, which I thought was nice. She even remembered the name of my son! It's these personal touches that make you feel well take care of.

The pool and beach area are also so well taken care of, customer service of the pool and beach boys is great. They all try to make your day pleasant. They played with our kids and smiled and helped us wherever they could. Really loved it.

Only small point of criticism was not being able to have wifi- it kept going in and out. I just gave up after a while. Also, for kids the restaurants are not that good. The prices are pretty high and the choices are not that extensive. The (expensive) buffet is free for kids, but we did not feel comfortable going there as it was awfully quiet and we did not want to disturb. The people in the restaurants were the only ones less customer friendly. We solved it by going to restaurants in next door hotels which were more casual & had a better menu. We also ordered in room service which has a very good choice of easy and healthy food.

Nevertheless, this is an amazing hotel. We will definately come back!
But these were minor

Room Tip: Judging from other pictures I think all rooms are pretty equal.

My new wife (MissPatterson :) ) and I stayed here for our honeymoon. A comfortable bed (which was dressed with flower petals on arrival, a lovely touch) with superb air conditioning. The room was clean and tidy, kept to a very high standard. Wonderful pool and poolside service with four poster beds serving as shade in hotter hours. In good proximity to the beach with it's own private segment.

Staff were all exceedingly polite, and though most were French speaking, it never caused any major trouble. The breakfast was excellent with a vast selection of options that tided us over for most of the day. We had food every night in La Caravane which specialised in a variety if buffet foods. Would highly recommend their cuisine, and options were available for the less adventurous as well! Reasonably priced, at 350 dirhams per person.

Some less favorable points:

The television provided limited options for the English speaking, though we spent little time overall watching it!

The wi-fi was unpredictable and tended to drop out at inopportune times. Also requested logins frequently and was an open network. I would suggest that a password protected network would be helpful. They do have a small computer suite near the reception area which is a good alternative if a more reliable computer session is needed

Unfortunately a conference on the last two days of our honeymoon (of which we were not told about until 300 delegates swarmed the place) soured our stay a little as in waiting for our airport transfer in the lobby, we felt a little neglected.

Advice for those staying:
Have all your ebooks downloaded in advance to avoid disappointment!
Reserve your sun-lounger early and bring plenty of sun-cream!
Prepare to pay equivalent of £4 for bottled water

Room Tip: Try and ask for a room with poolside view, loads of stairwells nearby for quick access to pool!

Gorgeous hotel with an amazing array of comfortable sun loungers in the form of hammocks, 4 poster bed loungers, sofas, armchairs and traditional loungers. Towels provided every morning with excellent service from all the guys wearing orange. Swimming pools were lovely, freezing but gorgeous to lounge beside or brave the temperature for a swim! One heated pool but this was dominated by kids so stayed clear! This hotel has its own private area of beach but a lot of work was being done to spruce it up so we used the main part of the beach which was really lovely - sea was warmer than the pool! Rooms were lovely, petals and flowers laid out in different ways each day, fresh towels and water provided daily. Restaurants provided great variety especially La Caravane which offered a buffet on a different theme each evening! Yes there was obscurities like brain, rabbit, liver etc but there was always a variety of other delicious food to choose from! Service was generally excellent - all staff greeted you on passing, very polite. The only downside with service I have to say is it was not good during a large conference that took place. Focus seemed to shift to them and their needs and the hotel almost seemed to neglect its other guests. I didnt like this. Wifi was rubbish and was not stable and the tv offered little variety - this is a minor point as little tv is used but in a hotel of this kind, better stations for English needed. Another point is the cost, bring plenty of spending money! A bottle of water costs around £4 !! I really liked this hotel and the polite staff however my last couple of days were spoiled by the large conference as we were made to feel in the way! Please remember your guests are just as important as the conference people!
