“Great Place, Great holiday.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2012 via mobile

Firstly, can I say although everyone is entitled to an opinion I'm amazed at some of the negative reviews here. Me and my wife (both 26) just came back from our honeymoon here and we both thought it was fantastic. Rooms were spacious and clean and if you ever needed them sprucing you just asked. Food was excellent, great selection and lots of it. We never really waited for anything and had pretty much a different meal every night. Drinks at the bar had a great selection although I would agree that they were very very strong. Occasionally you had to ask for them to tone the alcohol down. Entertainment for me was probably the the only slight let down of a otherwise amazing holiday. Although the day time activities were good and the animation team always up beat and not pushy; I felt the evening shows lacked any kind of professionalism. However, that certainly didn't spoil a fantastic holiday. One final point I would advise anyone going not to take travellers cheques. Luckily we didn't but I know a few people had issues with them. A good old trusty ATM sometimes felt the best option.

My wife and I have just returned from a 10 day break at the Tikida Dunas and the hotel exceeded our expectations on all levels. Hotel Staff always willing to help and freindly at all times, entertainment team on the go from early am to late pm. The Food, well you can never go hungry as so much choice always hot unlike some postings suggest. Food prepared in front of you at all sittings served piping hot and VERY GOOD QUALITY. Other A.I we have stayed at always had to queue for omlettes & panckackes but we never queued once during our stay and it was busy. Bar service is excellent and the drinks a high standard. Nice touch candle lite at your table for dinner. Thoughout the day no queues again for soft drinks as you help yourself or you can be served at bar if prefered. Thomson Rep Elias is excellent top marks to him for a job very well done. Best weve had. Only downside late room check outs seem to be impossable for everybody but courtesy room is available.

Room Tip: Hotel is only 3 storeys high but top floor seems to get you a sea view

we have just got back from the tikida dunas in agadir. As a family of 2 adults and a 7 year old this is how we found it.
The lobby and bar area is looked after well and is the cleanest area in the complex, after this it does tend to go down hill a little the pool area is clean but there are a few litle areas to brush up on, and yes even on the hottest day which hit 42!! the water was bloody cold, so cold that there were more people in the sea which did feel a lot warmer and was more fun trying to jump the waves. Anyway on to the rooms, we had room 3043 which is the furthest room from anywhere and was a ground floor room with a large terrace looking out onto the football/basketball area. We had asked for a sea view and we could see it but not very much of it as the complex wall blocked out most of it. I think this is one of the best blocks to be in as it does face the sea just ask for a higher floor rooms 3044-3242 or the other block which faces the sea 5001-5211 although this block is right next to the promenade which can be busy in the evenings. The room itself was big but looking tired and we had several problems when we were there, the phone did not work not a problem for us, the fridge had to be fixed and the air con wasnt exactly powerful. The curtains and blankets had a few holes in and the whole place needs redecorating and furnishing, but again its not the worst we have stayed in.
Right on to the food and drink!
This is probably the best bit as we saw plenty of choice along with several theme nights while we were there plus the option of eating in the moroccon themed restaurant or the italian(where we ate lunch every day) Whilst these are different to the main buffet restaurant they are very similar, but much much quieter. Lunch often saw queing which would be a lot worse when the hotel is full (1200 but only 800 when we stayed) but food was always being cooked and replaced so it never really stood for long, also it was nice to see one of the assistant managers walking round most of the day checking quality and we saw him take action plenty of times to rectify problems which was very reassuring. I would say however that the tables were always sticky and it is worth checking plates cutlery etc before using them as we often came across a greasy or dirty plate along with plenty of chipped ones. I had an upset stomach for a couple of days near the end but put it down to a completely different diet than usual. The drinks were spot on if a little strong at times e.g. rum and coke was regularly 2/3rds of a tumbler of rum and 1/3 coke great for me! The staff are very efficient but dont always look happy to be there or to chat, and it did appear to us that they favour the french which is to be expected when that is their first language.
We didnt do any of the trips by Thomson because of the price but there were no end of people on the prom willing to sell anything thomson could do. we did a 2 hour camel ride which cost 400dh for the 3 of us which was about half the price, we were very lucky and had 2 fantastic guides on the trek with 2 americans completing the party. If the guides are good with you please tip them as they see hardly any of the money you pay for the trip and are very poor.
To sum up it is a good holiday location and pretty good hotel if you get it at a good price, but there are plenty of other hotels which look just as nice, if its luxury you want book the tikida palace if its value you want then this does the job just fine, good but room for a lot of improvement.

Room Tip: rooms 3044-3242 or 5001-5211(more noisy) have sea views and are furthest from the road but can be a...

Stayed at the Riu Tikida Dunas between the 14th and the 21st May 2012. First impressions of the hotel were excellent with a very warm welcome from the staff who without exception were superb throughout our stay. Room was very large and spotlessly clean with a great view over the sea and pool area (we were in block 3).

Having never been all inclusive before we felt that the overall package provided excellent value for money although it goes without saying that on this basis it makes little sense to eat anywhere other than the hotel. I personally felt that the food was pretty good; although slightly repetitive the quality was good and I could always find something I liked. However if I had stayed for more than a week the selection may have become slightly boring. A top tip is to reserve a table for dinner in either the Italian or Moroccan themed restaurant; the choice of food isn't that much different from the main restaurant but it provides a much more relaxed and less crowded dining experience which we preferred.

As the title refers to, both of us did suffer from upset stomachs during the trip. it wasn't anything too drastic but its worth bearing in mind that we met another couple who were similarly affected, along with a few other people we spoke to in passing. It may or may not have been anything to do with the food or drinks, and as I mentioned before the hotel really was spotlessly clean but its definitely worth bearing in mind. Unfortunately with a large hotel with this many people passing through the dining areas in any one sitting, 'the squits' is something that can strike at any resort like this so it shouldn't put you off.

The evening entertainment, with some live music in the bar and the 9pm show in the Founty bar was a little more low key than we were expecting, although you certainly couldn't fault the effort and enthusiasm of the entertainment team. There is the option of free entry to the nightclub in the nearby Tikida beach hotel for people in need of a bit more action although we never got round to visiting it.

The laid back theme then pretty much sums up the Tikida Dunas. For a holiday to lounge by the pool and relax it really is very difficult to fault; the pool area is excellent with plenty of sunbeds and shade if required and the overall atmosphere in the resort is very friendly.
In Agadir itself there isn't a lot to do and don't be fooled by the rep telling you its a 20 minute walk to the marina, its more like an hour. Its still worth doing though to get an idea of what the town is like. First Choice/Thomson did offer a number of excursions to get out of the town; whilst we didn't take part in any of these, people who did appeared to have enjoyed them.

So to sum up, if you are looking for a more relaxed, laid back holiday then this hotel is overall one to be recommended. As long as you aren't looking for lively evening entertainment you definitely won't be disappointed. But remember the immodium, just in case;-)

Room Tip: Block 3 provides a sea and pool view

this hotel was great, spacious, great staff - never had to queue or wait for anything. Food was excellent in all the restaureants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Grounds were kept nice. Rooms were clean and spacious and made up every day.We didnt get the view we were after but we didnt spend much time in the room except to get ready for the evening so it didnt bother us really. Trip to Marrakech is defiantely worth it, a great experience to be had and also the atlas mountains day trip.

Terrible hotel, terrible food, terrible drinks.

The food was bland and repetative. The only food worth metioning in a positive light was the a la carte resturant and the mid-day pancakes!

The cocktails were all premixed syrups, given that morocco is one of the main suppliers of the worlds fresh oranges you would expect fresh juice... Oh no.. You get extra sweet syrup juice...

Ants were in the room during our stay and upon arrival the toilet in our room was dirty.

There was also banging from the room above us which the hotel was told about but didnt rectify.

The reps from thompson will lie to you and tell you that if you pay for trips on your card you wont get charged international fees as it will go through in the uk. This is a lie, came home to find a nice charge on my card...

Will not go again and certainly dont recommend if you have higher standards than the above
