“Intimate and Nothing but Quality!”
Reviewed 2 April 2010

Needed a relaxing holiday and following the reviews of this Hotel decided to stay. I travelled with my Sister. We were not disappointed and can see why this Hotel is so highly rated. The Hotel is well designed and had a very classy feel to it. The Hotel staff were extremely friendly and very accommodating. However, it was the attention to detail that surpassed my expectations and made the whole break special and stress-free. Everything was perfect - food, accommodation (stayed in one of the Timoulay Suites) and leisure facilities. The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Agadir which allowed for a more relaxing and peaceful location. The Spa facilities were extremely well presented and the staff were very attentative. In all, a great place to relax and switch-off. Highly recommended.

my wife, little boy and i were there the last week of january, booked fairly last minute, just looking for a weeks relaxation. not having been to morrocco for the best part of 20 years i was a little concerned about the hassle factor, though had no worries in agadir.

to be fair it didnt really feel like morrocco, it could have been a resort in the canaries or egypt, though i have to say, much cleaner, welcoming, less brash and incredible value for money.

having seen the big seafront hotels (though some looked very good) and the coaches of people being offloaded i am so glad we stayed at the timoulay. though it is just slightly off the beaten track, it is very easy to walk down to the beach and then along into the seafront tourist sector, which we found to have a good selection of restaurants. our room was a good size, had a great bathroom and lovely balcony looking out over the pool and towards the sea. brilliant for watching the pedestrian locals absolute disregard for road sense, as they wandered slowly over the main road junction with cars manouvering around them.

we spent a lot of time in the hotel as our little boy was unwell (nothing to do with morrocco!) and really enjoyed it. the pool area is great, the breakfast and dinners were much better than we expected. the staff were all round excellent- i tipped them heavy and they deserved it- its worth remembering how poor the country is. we really caned the room service all week, often eating in our room, plenty of wine etc, had lots of lunches around the pool and though hotel prices are higher than out and about our weeks bill came to much less than i expected.

i was amazed at the prices in agadir, not once did i feel like i was being ripped off. if you avoid the wine list, you can eat great food in a good restaurant for less than the price of a fast food take out at home. a coffee and fresh juice sitting outside in a beachfront cafe cost about £1.50! having been in paris the day before we came here where it would cost ten times that, i suddenly felt very wealthy! we spent less than half that of what we spent in gran canaria last time we were there and we really didnt hold back.

the big souk is worth a look, its big and noisy and a little closer to the real morrocco. its stalls sell pretty much the same tat as all the shops around but we had fun poking around for an hour (our haggling skills honed, we paid £8 for a very good imitation hermes purse, £6 for a little traditional suit for the boy and £9 for a snide breitling..) i think it cost about 20 dirham in a petit taxi. the taxi driver was slightly annoying as he took us to a 'berber souk' (5 stories of morrocan art, leather, rugs etc) around the corner, no doubt for a kickback). it was also worth a look but then we had to wander across a couple of rough looking streets to the big souk. apart from that experience all the cabbies seemed straight up, and only once did i have to ask for the meter to be turned on. i fancy not many of those little orange peugot's would pass an MOT though..

the valley of the birds kept our little one entertained one afternoon, and was busy being enjoyed by tourists and locals alike.

i would definitely visit agadir again for a little winter sun break and certainly choose it over the canaries/ egypt etc. theres not a great deal to do and see locally so if i were taking older children (not infants) i might think about a larger hotel for the kids clubs etc, but given the choice would definitely use the timoulay again.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Timoulay during Valetine's Day weekend. It was our second visit to the hotel since we loved our first stay. We expected nothing special for Valentine's Day and were so pleasantly surprised to find everything in the restuarant redcorated, very romantic, with a special menu of very delicious food. Then, to further surprise us, Moroccan dancers performed. When we arrived in our room after the dinner, we were greeted with chocolate and a Moroccan-styled Valentine's Day card near the pillows. Needless to say, we were thrilled.

The hotel is totally wheelchair accessible, which makes everything so convenient for us since I use a wheelchair. The staff is outstanding; everyone remembered us from our last visit and greeted us like family.

Each room has a lovely patio overlooking the gorgeous swimming pool. Beautiful gardens surround the pool.

Everything is super clean and tasteful. It is one of our favorite hotels in Morocco.

Agree with everything that has been said about this hotel. Hotel is spotlessly clean and all staff extremely welcoming and friendly. Food is typical buffet fayre but I would say a cut above the normal quality so absolutely no complaints on that score. Couple of things to be aware of though. Firstly, the pool area is quite small. Hotel was allegedly about 60% occupied when we stayed and on occasions we struggled to find two free sun loungers. This may seem a minor gripe but I would imagine that during peak season one may struggle so something to bear in mind.
Our biggest issue though was location - yes it's 5 minutes walk down to the beach but across waste ground and a relatively busy road and when you do reach the beach there's nothing there. You have to walk at least 30 minutes along the prom to find any sort of tangible eating establishments and even then you find Pizza Hut and McDonalds !Had we not had an evening meal included I don't think we would have found anywhere to eat within a mile radius of the hotel. Yes there are loads of little orange taxis that will take you into Town for £ 1.60 but we wanted a gentle stroll to somewhere decent to eat locally and this is seriously lacking in Agadir. In my opinion it is crying out for beach bars / small fish restaurants along the beach area much as you get dotted along the coast of Spain or Portugal.
I'm probably doing Agadir an injustice though because once we'd found our way around we had a good time - weather for Feb was great and there is a really nice restaurant in the new Marina that we ate at several times and would strongly recommend. Can't remember the name off hand but it is at the far end of " this side " of the marina - right down the far end past Zara and Aldo.
Hope this helps.

Stayed 3 nights at Hotel Timoulay. Its all been said before the hotel is spot on. Rooms are large all have good views. Its a small hotel 50 ish rooms. Food is good, being a small hotel there isnt a big choice of food but what you get is good. £1.60 taxi ride to the centre of Agadir isnt too bad also a few minutes walk to the sea. A place to hide for a few days and enjoy the sun. Staff as everyone says are very genuine and pleasant. Wife used the spa for massage and seaweed wrap £33 excellent value. Free wifi too

Great service, very clean and spacious rooms, nice view, great breakfast. What more do you need when you stay over in Agadir for a night or two.
Agadir is for lots of people just a stopover in their travel schedule. The place is loaded with huge hotels, so making a choice can be complicated. I can recommend this hotel for a night or two: still a personal touch and good value.

Myself and partner stayed at the Timoulay in Ocober 2009 and loved it. This is a small boutique hotel which offers anytthing but small in its furnishings, service, staff, and food quality.Great for couples this is an experience that offers an environment to rival any 4/5 star hotel of its kind. The service is outstanding and attentive, the food fresh and varied, the staff warm and welcoming. The hotel rooms are spacious and clean with a luxurious at home feel. The pool area is a calm oasis. Would recommend the Timoulay without a doubt, so much so we are visiting again this October 2010.Cant Wait!!
