I rate them 4 stars but with caveats. I would have rated them 5 stars if they hadn't been late to pick us up and if the guide knew about our requests and if we would have finished a bit later in a souk and better store. The two first issues were due to an unexpected last minute change of our guide who couldn't make it.
We arrived in Casablanca on the Costa Deliziosa on August 5th 2014. We were a group of five adults and three tennagers. Our excursion was supposed to begin at 8am and our boat departure was at 9pm.I had requested to visit the Casablanca Hassan II mosque and the major sights in Rabat. I had set up the excursion through Hassan by email who was very friendly and helpful. Our guide's name was Hanif (?) and driver was Abdel(?).
-Hassan our contact (and owner?) of Under Moroccan Sun and : helpful, friendly and very conscientious.
-Great price, much better price than Morocco Expert Tours or the boat excursion.
-Great transportation and driver
-Great restaurant: specifically the food and location on seaside beside the Rabat Kasbah. However only seafood is offered was an issue for some of our teenagers who don't like seafood.
-Morocco is great. We visited a most countries in Europe over the years and even Turkey, Egypt and Israel, but Morocco captured our heart.
-The interior (and exterior) of the Casablanca Hassan II mosque is extraordinary and is worth the extra 10 euros per adult.. We enjoyed Rabat a lot, especially Chellah one of the highlight of the excursion
-Guide was very knowledgeable and charismatic.
-The women found the driver and guide handsome!
-They arrived 20 minutes late, which was very stressful since this never happened to us on any private tours. We were the only group waiting. The local Casablanca port agent realized this quickly (after only 5 minutes) and asked the police to move out the taxis drivers who were starting to harass us, and offered his help. He offered to call our guide who answered and said that the guide was on his way. We were very impressed by the local authority beings so helpful! Once the guide arrived, he was friendly but didn't offer much of an explanation on being late...not a great start (Hassan explained later that this was due to an unexpected last minute guide change)
-Guide didn't know about our requests for visiting the interior of the Hassan II mosque, Chellah, the Rabat Kasbah museum and the Rabat medina/souk. Thank God I insisted on at least visiting the inside of the mosque and Chellah since these were the highlights of our trip. (Hassan explained later that this was due again to an unexpected last minute guide change)
-The guide played the charade of not being good with numbers for the entry fees to the Hassan II mosque. The charade was certainly to get as much in his pocket as possible, especially guessing that there is certainly a difference between a"group" fee and the individual fee that we gave him..
-Guide was eager to get us back to "visit" Casablanca even though we had 5 hours left before boat departure.I complied since some were starting to be a bit tired after 7 hours of visiting and since Casablanca might be more interesting than what I had read. We told him not to bring us to the usual carpet makers/sellers and he complied. Casablanca is somewhat interesting but not worth more than 1 hour as it much less interesting than Rabat. The Casablanca tourist store was overcrowded and stuffy, a bad ending to an overall nice day. I regret on not insisting on visiting more slowly the Rabat Kasbah and its museum, the Rabat medina and souk.
Overall, even with the unexpected glitches I recommend Under Moroccan sun and would take another tour with then.
