Some friends gave us the advice to go and book this address to stay for a couple of days in Fes. The Riad Laayoun is indeed a wonderful place!!

To get there we had to take small streets. Fortunately Simo picked us up at the arrival of he taxi and guided us through this maze.

Then when we opened the door of he house, we discovered an unimaginable place: it's beautiful, quiet and relaxing.

Jean-Claude, the owner, invited us to drink a tea on the terrace from where we have a amazing view of the medina: brilliant!!! And then Simo gave us some information about the Medina, where to go, what to visit and all good advice and freebies.

The Cannelle suite we booked is nicely designed and decorated. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is well equipped.

We had diner on 2 occasions at the Riad and the food was outstanding... and really hearty !!

We genuinely spent two wonderful nights and kind of had the feeling that, for a little while, we lived in another world!

Room Tip: The Cannelle suite was brilliant, quiet, nice decoration and really comfy !

What a wonderful place. Amongst the craziness of the medina is this oasis of calm and quiet and care. After a last minute booking wonderful Simo picked us up right at the taxi stop and helped us to Laayoun. I was so grateful for a bit of English conversation (and some French, too) after bumbling our way around with little Moroccan. Jean Claude is a fantastic host and he and Simo went to all kinds of trouble to make us welcome and accommodate my gluten free needs. We were so exhausted from travelling it was great to just chill on the roof or in the foyer for a few days. The rooms are nice and homey, not fancy. It really feels like staying at a friend's place rather than a hotel. Quite affordable for foreign run Riad. Yes, funny smell in the bathroom sometimes but that's Moroccon plumbing, not the fault of the owners.

We had such a warm and memorable stay at Riad Laayoun. The staff were incredibly kind, hospitable, and tending to your every need. The Riad itself is architecturally and aesthetically gorgeous. You should stay at least 3 nights. Simo was fantastic, he was a true friend in Fes. Be sure to eat dinner in the Riad as Rashida is a fantastic cook.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are quite good.

Going to Fes can be a little intimidating - I brought my mother for 2 nights. Simo and Jean-Claude arranged train station pickup, a guide, dinner and a return to the station early enough for us to get on our 7am train (the added bonus of getting up that early was to see the amazing "trash donkeys" which I unfortunately didn't get a photo of. The food was wonderful and the service was even better....oh and did I mention this was all last minute? We decided the day before to go to Fes and everything was perfect for our very short trip. I highly recommend it for the price.

Room Tip: We stayed in Vanille - which was a great price but was up a lot of stairs....so just make sure everyone is ok to climb! Simo carried our luggage up for us however, which was very kind.

A beautiful Riad conveniently located in Fez Medina. Impeccable service - Simo was very helpful, even walking us to a restaurant we'd booked one night as we were worried about getting lost! We had dinner in the Riad the first night of our arrival - very good food, especially the salads and soup. I'd recommend the guide the Riad uses - we had a great tour of Fez and were able to see lots of things we perhaps wouldn't have found for ourselves. Stay here if you can - you won't be disappointed!
