“Spotless guest house, friendly welcome, fantastic location!”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

This guesthouse is ideally located for the sights, shopping and cafes of Fez, just down the street from Bab Boujloud and between the two main streets of Fez. The bedrooms and bathrooms are kept spotlessly clean, the breakfast is generous and delicious, the roof terrace is a lovely space to just sit and read and get away from the hustle and bustle and the welcome warm and friendly. This is not the first time that we have stayed and the standards are always consistent and reliable, it doesn't get any better than this!

Owner and manager are both very nice, happy to show you around, will explain in great length all the sights and attractions and seem to be the only people in Fez not trying to sell you a tour!

The guest house is down a maze of alleys, but is between the two main streets in Fez - a great location if you want to explore.

The breakfast is massive, biggest of the 5 hotels we stayed at in Morroco. The rooms are nice. We were on the very top. There is a a smell of sewage my wife wasn't keen on, but I think that was just the generic smell of Fez.

Great little place. I have stayed here a number of times now, and always been made welcome by Steve (the owner) and Mohammed. The rooms are very clean and pleasant, the breakfast is top notch (and very generous), and the location is great for access to Batha or Bab Boujloud. Highly recommended!

I visited Dar Houdou for a second time this summer, this time by myself. It was my first stop after 72 hours of traveling, and it was the best place I could have possibly visited after so many hours of travel. The Dar Houdou staff are lovely, friendly, and welcoming, and are more than happy to help you out, whether you need directions or are trying to purchase something.

The Dar itself is gorgeous. It features two beautiful rooftop terraces, perfect for relaxing, reading, and taking in the medina. It is also very amenable to those who want to do some cooking for themselves, as it has a full kitchen that guests can use. Breakfasts are provided - they are VERY filling and delicious, so bring your appetite.

A great stay - you don't want to miss it!

Room Tip: The top room is beautiful, but louder at night (more open and on the same level as the loudspeakers...

We used the pick up service for the riad, it was reassuring to have the driver us through the medina. We were greeted by a helpful member of staff who provided us with tea and biscuits and a map of the city. Our room was fantastic, a private double on the top level of the riad. There are two patios for guests to sit at- a peaceful escape from the medina. Breakfast is amazing!! Fresh fruit, cereal, bread, pancakes, freshly squeezed orange juice, yogurt, tea or coffee, jam, marmalade, honey- it was incredible. Wifi and laptop available to use, loads of helpful books as well as travel and popular magazines. Location was great, really central in the busy hub of the medina. Definitely would stay here again! The best accommodation in our 5 years of budget travelling so far!

Stayed here 5 times now, wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else when visiting Fez! Breakfast is enough to feed the 5000 full of local delicacies. Rooms are comfy and spotless and the welcome is always warm.

After spending a few nights at the Dar Houdou Guest House I can honestly say I have never stayed in a more welcoming Guest House, despite my extensive travels. The hosts were welcoming and went above and beyond with their help and local knowledge - nothing was too much trouble. The linen was clean and general upkeep of the guest house was superb and the traditional Moroccon decor was beautiful. Even the breakfast was faultless. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful Guest House in this area.
