“Wonderful place to stay...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

I stayed at DAR GNAOUA in January. I was picked up by helpful Ahmed who helped me to find my way to the main places in the medina, which is overwhelming! The Dar has been beautifully renovated and I was upgraded to the terrace room with en-suite bathroom with a gorgeous view of the medina. My stay was perfect and I recommend the place. Unfortunately I didn't get to meet Didier and Laurence. Maybe next time!

Room Tip: The top floor room with a terrace - beautiful, carved, wooden ceiling and a wonderful view.

Didier and Laurance are an amazing host. They were fully booked for the dates I wanted so recommended me to another riad. However, when the dates for that riad also did not work, the two riads accommodated us by taking us one night each and arranging the easy transfer of our luggage between the two riads. Laurance also gave us a second room for the price of one because the twin room was not available. Such amazing generosity. My room was on the terrace floor and it was spectacular, great sunset and a full moon view.

The riad is beautiful, very classy and serene with an amazing view of the Medina. The staff is so accommodating. We ordered in and had Fish Tagine the neighbor lady made and it is out of this world. The food all over Morocco is wonderful, but the Fish Tagine we had at Dar Gnaou was the best Tagine dinner we had!

Room Tip: The terrace room is wonderful.

This review is long overdue - we stayed at Dar Gnaoua just before Christmas last year, booked and paid for the very reasonably-priced twin room but they gave us a second room and the whole first floor and bathroom to ourselves because it was unoccupied. The owner Didier was incredibly lovely and unfailingly helpful with all our requests, as was the steward Ahmed - they made us feel thoroughly at home and welcome, and Didier even took the time to show us around the medina and accompany us to dinner one night. The house itself is gorgeous - watching the sun go down over Fes on the roof terrace was an unforgettable experience. Would highly recommend it. Alison

Ideally located in the Medina of Fes, this Riad really makes you forget time.
The terras has a superb view over the Medina and Ahmed and Youssef really make you feel at home.
Take at least half a day off just to enjoy the Riad itself and order one of the tajines their neighbour makes.
We'll be back!

In amongst the maze of roads there sits a cute and serene Dar
that comes highly recommended for travellers from afar.

Not only is it within the Fes medina locality
It is a lovely place to stay - both for the comfort and hospitality.

Take time over your mint tea to admire its restoration
This Dar is loved and is worthy of aesthetic exploration.

Did I mention the view? This is a Dar with a fantastic view!
Take your camera to the terrace and see how the Medina envelopes you.

Special thanks to Ahmed for his kindness and help during my stay.
Dar Gnaoua is somewhere I will definately book again.

The dar has been meticulously restored, with a great deal of love and patience by the French couple who owns it.
The hospitality is high-end quality with an authentic approach.
A truly unique and serene experience.

The host were so welcoming when we arrive, they pick us up from the square. From there, they showed us how to walk into the medina to locate the riad. Though the walk, they make sure we remember how to get to the riad, so that to be sure we won't get lost. Once we reach the riad, they serve us with really good mint tea, the room is absolutely love especially with the view from the window (we stayed on the top floor).

After settling down, they brought us around the medina, making sure we know our way around.

Breakfast was serve at the rooftop (if you request for it), you can enjoy the sumptuos breakie with a good scenary.

On the 2nd morning, we have to leave real early, they even wake up and prepare breakfast for us & send us out to take cab. This is so nice of them.

Absolutely love this place.
