We have recently spent three nights in the room adjacent to the roof terrace and it was gorgeous. The view from the roof terrace is simply breath taking. Ahmed who lived in the Medina was amazing, helpful and kind. He met us from the taxi and helped with luggage, he served us breakfast every morning, always delivered with a smile and advice about what to see and do. On our first day he walked us to one of the main areas of the Medina and provided a map with the identified sights to see. He also advised us to take our time as Fes reveals its charms slowly and he was so right.
The accommodation is laid back, relaxing and with a stunning interior. The room we stayed in was on the roof terrace and was truly beautiful. Lying on your bed and looking over the view of Fes was magical, and this room must offer the best view from the shower anywhere in the world.
However, it was Ahmed and Rashid (the night staff) who made our experience so memorable. Rashid was often to be found sitting in front of a stall in the Medina and it was like having a friend each time we wandered by.
Love, love, loved it.

Room Tip: Stay in the room on the roof terrace as this offers the most amazing views. Very comfortable bed.

After our 2 week-trip in Maroc, I can see it was our best riad / hotel on your trip.
Sure, without help no chance to find first time (like all riads in the medina). But it's worth. Inside you are in a beautiful riad, on roof you can have breakfast with a fantastic view on the medina of Fés. The team of riad dar gnaoua ist so helpful and friendly. Breakfast und lunch are very good.
Good Wifi inside, not on the roof.

Of all the places we stayed in during our time in Morocco Dar Gnaoua was by far the best. The hosts were helpful, without being overpowering, the rooms were lovely and it was also one of the quietest places we stayed. Loved it!

After walking in the labyrinth of Fes, you enter the luminous patio of Dar Gnaoua. Amhed, the receptionist, was elegant, smiling and very helpful welcomed us, pointed out tips all along the roads to better discover the medina and feel safe and comfortable. Very well restored riad: ceramics, sculpted beam posts, a terrace on the roof to contemplate the mystic city of Fes...the owner, mrs Laurence provides very good tips in a tiny booklet: food, stores, best restaurants, and so on. Very romantic.

I slept in b&b's all over the world; from Tokyo to Kingston and back, but Dar Gnoua is by far the best, most welcoming and beautiful place I've ever slept. The caretaker, mr. Ahmed, is such a lovely man. His french is great, his english sufficient and not only does he serve the best breakfast ever, he will help finding your way around Fes from the moment you arrive.

Make sure you call the dar to pick you up from the airport/bus station, because the house is located right in the middle of the old town, and you will not, I repeat NOT, find the way on your own.

Oh, and did I mention the dar has the best rooftop terrace ever?

Room Tip: We slept in the upper room, next to the rooftop terrace. Plus side is you are on the lovely terrace in no time, and the room is spacious. The view from the bathroom is stunning. Down side could be the steep stairs. Also, as the room is next to the terrace, there isn't much privacy when you open your window shutters.
