Dar Melody is a wonderful respite from the craziness and challenges of the Fes medina. A beautiful riad, the attention to detail in every aspect was much appreciated. Breakfasts were a highlight of my day with fresh juices, fruit, a variety of crepes and toppings, eggs and coffee. Our room was spacious. beautifully decorated and very comfortable. There is also a wonderful rooftop terrace which boasts spectacular views. Laurence and Bernard were wonderful hosts who went out of their way to make us feel at home. They had a taxi waiting at the train station and when the taxi dropped us off, Bernard was there to lead us through the maze of the medina to the riad. We were welcomed with fresh squeezed orange juice and fresh pineapple and given an "orientation" to Fes, with information, advice, and a map. When we set out to dinner on the first night we were a little unsure we would find our way there and back (there are 9500 streets in the medina!). Laurence, perhaps sensing our lack of confidence, led the way. She also drove us to the train station when it was time to leave Fes. We had a wonderful experience at Dar Melody and would highly recommend it. If you are going to stay in the medina, this is the place to choose. Thanks Laurence and Bernard for sharing your home with us.

It is over a year ago that we stayed at Dar Melody during our 2-week holiday, but we look back with a big smile on our face to our stay in Fes. I was not very surprised to see they're one of the Winners of 2012. Very much deserved! Well done!

We stayed at Dar Melody 4 nights from May 27th until May 31st. We arrived in the middle of the day after a long bus ride from Chefchaouen and didn't know what to expect in Fes.

As soon as we arrived to the bus station, I called Laurence and Bernard and he quickly picked us up at the bus station. We had issues with our bags left in Lisbon in the first part of our trip, and were hoping that someone at the Fes airport would help us out. Bernard drove us to the airport right away, and even helped us dealing with the person who was in charge of receiving the bags.

We then drove to the Dar, only to find this gorgeous piece of heaven right in the middle of the Medina. Laurence welcomed us with some fresh strawberries and orange juice, and gave us useful information and a map of the Medina.

Our room "Menzeh" was simply spectacular. We couldn't have asked for more!! I realized that all these reviews are definitely accurate. The terrace outside our room had an amazing view of the whole Medina. We met other couples and loved sitting around watching the sunsets.

We enjoyed every morning the wonderful breakfasts that Laurence made. She always made an array of crepes, pancakes, delicious juices, fruit and eggs. It was a delicious feast and we looked forward to it every morning! We had breakfast around 8:30 am and we were only hungry around 3: 00 pm.

The night before we left, we chatted with Laurence and Bernard. They are incredible people and amazing hosts. You feel as if you are not a guest, but as part of their family. I highly recommend Dar Melody anyone traveling to Fes!

Laurence and Bernard: Thank you so much for all your help during our trip. We enjoyed staying in your house and your company :) :) !! Diana and Alec.

We had a great time at Dar Melody. We had a new appreciation for what possibilities lie behind the closed doors in the medina of fes. The breakfast was top notch, serving 3 freshly squeezed juices each morning along with fruit, crepes, and eggs. The house itself is a beautiful work of art, with the attention to detail being first class. This is the perfect place to relax after a long day of medina sightseeing!

Room Tip: we saw all the rooms, they are all great in our opinion

My wife and I spent 3 days in Fes, and absolutely loved our stay in Dar Melody! Right from the start, Bernard met us from where we got dropped off, took us to our place and made sure we knew how to get around crazy Fes. They recommended places to eat and things to see. Overall, the place was very clean and one of the best Riads that we staying in! Thank you both for making our trip so memorable!

We have just had 5 nights here with wonderful Laurence and Bernard. The dar is beautifully restored and the breakfasts are the best we have ever had, anywhere. Rooms are spacious and every day we arrived back there was bottled water and yummy sweets in our room. Tea and coffee were no effort for our hosts and we had so much fun with them. We felt at home from the moment we arrived and the advice about Fez from Laurence was excellent, including organising drivers and guides. Thank you for a memorable stay in Fez, Carmel and Bill from Australia

Other reviewers are not exaggerating about Dar Meldoy. The owners, Laurent and Bernard, are great hosts. Bernard arranged for us to get from and to the train station and Laurent immediately gave us a map, oriented us to Fes and recommended a few restaurants. No matter where you stayed in the medina, you would have to walk. We probably walked a little further exploring Marrakech, But, Fes is built on a big hill. Dar Meldoy is downhill from most sights, so the walk back at the end of the day is the easy part.

The room we stayed in was massive; the bathroom was also exceptionally large and very well appointed. Breakfasts were unbelievable: fresh juices and fruit, eggs or smoked salmon and cheese, toast, croissants or pastries, a selection of pancakes and crepes, jams and honeys.

I would recommend Dar Melody to anyone I know-- from my siblings to my colleagues to my mother-in-law-- and feel assured that every one of them would thank me afterwards for doing so.

Room Tip: The orange room was very large, and included a nice lounge. The bathroom was equally large, with dou...
