Just came back from a short stay at Palais Amani. Abdel and his wife who turned this amazing Moroccan house into a Riad are amazing people. They will make you feel at home in a minute.I don't think there is any better way to experience Morocco. The place is simply stunning, quiet, comfortable... The food is delicious as well. I'm definitely going back there!

Unquestionably a unique and excellent hotel, however for us it was a mixed experience. The introductory hosting was impressive, however the service took a nose dive after that. The Moroccan receptionist was friendly and helpful, but unfortunately we only saw her once and the other receptionist from South Africa had little clue of the area, sent us out twice on dubious advice, and provided a feeble departure experience, as we were waved off to lug our own luggage through the Medina to try and locate a taxi.

The food was similarly variable, ranging from delicious to not enjoyable. On this point I think the hotel could improve, because good Moroccan fare was difficult to find in Fes, and it detracted from the stay.

There is definitely something special about this hotel, particularly the courtyard and the palace atmosphere. It also enjoys a perfect location in terms of the experience of staying in the Medina, as it is close enough to the city wall to escape without having to pass through the circus.

The use of aromatic oils, high quality towels and soaps etc. was superb. Some little mistakes like a shower that leaked on the floor were to be found, but in such a building it was understandable, and it really was a magical place.

Room Tip: I wouldn't go for the mezzanine room again, as it was a little cramped in comparison to the rest...

I will be brief as so many excellent reviews about Riad Amani have already been submitted. The Riad is 5 star quality with great amenities. What makes Riad Amani standout as exceptional is the attention to detail from the owners and staff. Everything was done with style and grace and this made our vacation in Fes one the best vacations we have taken. The food and service from the entire staff was simply impressive. I would highly recommend taking their cooking class.

One of the most amazing places we have ever stayed!

I am an American working in London and have been fortunate enough to travel throughout Europe but this was my first experience in Morocco and it was perfect. Fez itself is an extremely interesting somewhat intense place so having somewhere so beautiful and comfortable to stay was a godsend.

The hotel proprietors were kind enough to invite my wife and I plus a few other guests to dinner one evening where we had excellent food and local wine. The food at Amani is amazing and their vegetarian options are terrific. The day we left for the airport we were leaving so early we did not expect to have time to eat. When we came down to check out we found that the staff had been waiting since 6:00a.m. for us to make sure we had a wonderful breakfast before leaving.

Service and quality could not have been higher. The property is absolutely beautiful, I would recommend this to anyone!

Thank you very much Amani.

After a long drive from Tangier to Fes, getting lost on a rainy black night, Palais Amani was a haven for the senses, delightful and refreshing in every way. Everything was thought out. The aroma of orange blossom from the courtyard garden, the beautifully designed rooms, the attentive service, the delicious food, beautiful bath products and lovely gifts for guests. Each room had a docking station for music and a view of the garden. The bathroom was modern with a nod to Morocco's heritage and plenty of space for couples!

The staff were interested, interesting and really helpful. We had a chat with the owner on the night of our arrival in the bar and felt really pleased to support an independent project, rather than a massive corporation.

We had breakfast on the roof, overlooking the medina and laughing at how lucky we were to find this place. Gorgeous.

This is absolutely breathtaking - superb tasteful and stylish riad in the heart of the medina.

Driving through the relatively modern streets of Fes did not adequately prepare us for the delights of Palais Amani.
I had chosen Amani from the advice of others but we were tired after a needlessly long flight,
arriving at 3.00 in the morning from what should have been an 11.50 pm arrival.
To make it worse, our bags were lost by the airline and we were told "this is Morocco"
So driving through the streets of Fes outside the medina made me wonder if we had made a mistake.
No, on arrival, the staff were absolutely wonderful - they took charge, gave us some food and drinks, made us feel comfortable and assured us they would find our bags.
The rooms were warm and relaxing but after 2 days, felt a little claustrophobic as our room opened onto a common area where other guests sat for coffee and meals.
So on the third day, we asked about other choices and were offered the best room (room 12?) upstairs and this was to die for - Huge, spacious, luxurious - next time, I will head straight for this room
You obviously go to Fes to enjoy the medina, the alleyways, the tanneries, to buy carpets, to enjoy life as it may have been 800 years ago.
You know all this but it is still a shock when you wander outside the doors of Amani
and feel you are in a time machine that has skipped a few centuries.
Fes is the largest, most populated town in the world without cars and it was a joy to just walk without even the sight of a car.
Not only are the rooms of Palais Amani wonderful - so too were the meals.
We asked for recommendations of where to eat but after enjoying the first day and night thought there was no need to go elsewhere - the variety of each meal was wonderful and sitting on the rooftop eating and sipping wine enjoying the sights of Fes was unbelieveable.

Room Tip: go for the best - think it is room 12 upstairs
