“An elegant and welcoming home in the Medina”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2012

Palais Amani not only lived up to our expectations, it exceeded them. The photos will give you a sense of the beauty of this painstakingly renovated ryad in the old medina. But sometimes those old houses suffer from poor plumbing, sewage smells etc...Not so at Amani, which offers all the modern comforts, down to the last detail. The stunning bathroom even had a powerful professional grade hairdryer - an unusual touch, even for high end hotels!

But what made this a truly outstanding experience was the unfailing friendliness and welcome extended by both management and staff. They went out of their way to accommodate our every need and make us feel at home. Our dietary requirements (salt, fat and gluten free) unfortunately made it difficult for us to enjoy the lovely set menus, so at our request, the kitchen prepared unsalted vegetable soup especially for us, every evening. The staff also organised taxi transfers to and from the airport, to Volubilis, they walked with us to place Seffarine which we had not managed to find on our own(!).

Everything from the leisurely breakfasts on the sunny terrace overlooking the patio, with its orangne trees and fountain, (at the end of december - we were very lucky with the weather), the hammam and massage to relax after long walks through the medina, was lovely. A wonderful, relaxing and hassle free stay.

Room Tip: Misryah 1 was accessed through steep stairs which may not be convenient for people with reduced mob...

Boutique hotels are most successful if the management and owners love what they do. Perhaps then, its no surprise that Palais Amani is one of the best hotels we've stayed in.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by Abdul, who is as nice as he is charming. Then you will check-in whilst enjoying traditional Moroccan tea and pastries and enjoy the warm welcome by none other than the owner himself. He is one of the nicest guys will be meet and quite funny and fun to talk to. You can tell he loves what he does.

The riad was carefully renovated as close to its original look and feel some 2 years ago. Its a typical riad with lemon and orange trees and a fountain in the middle courtyard - so if you're looking for the traditional Moroccan experience you cant go wrong here.

After all, its not the leading riad in Fes for nothing. Do yourself a favour and book your stay here when you go to Fes, if only its for a night. And dont miss the restaurant. We ate at the restaurant every night during our 3-night stay here. After the third night I wanted to kiss the chef! So, yea, dont miss the restaurant. Trust me.

Room Tip: Book one of the rooms in the second or mezzanine floors.

Upon arriving at The Palais Amani I was immediately overwhelmed with calm. It is a sanctuary. I was greeted with graciousness from the management and staff, which was constant during my stay. The décor is elegant and comfortable. The meals were catered to my dietary requirements and superb. Every request I made was attended to, even if I only made it in passing during a friendly conversation with the management. Yet, as attentive as they were, they were never overbearing and I felt my quietude and privacy were respected. The Palais Amani is a reason to travel back to Morocco.

You want to feel like a princess, you are at the right place. The beatiful renovated palais has only 14 rooms and you will be taken care of for sure. Location is very convenient and you will have afantastic view and drinks at the rooftop terrace. It has a price but if you can afford well spent. We had the pleasure of being well taken care of by the lovely hotelmanager Kriselda. It made the stay extra special. We will defenitely come back. I love Fes ! Practical: very good and convenient parking nearby and easy to find.

From restaurant reservations to recovering lost passports, the friendly, always helpful and highly competent staff at Palais Amani (especially the English speaking South African Kriselda) was an invaluable help for us in the often confusing maze of the Fes medina! The beautiful high-end place provides excellent cooking and is conveniently situated to sights while still allowing easy access with your luggage. Can only recommend it!

We stayed at the Palais Amani for three nights in October. The hotel is very beautiful with lovely accommodations and superb service. Our room was just perfect - lovely furnishings and everything designed perfectly. We had two delightful dinners at the riad and incredible cookies and sweets with tea every afternoon. Breakfast was delightfully served on the terrace and was even served in our room at 6:00 a.m. the day we departed for the airport. We can't say enough good things about Palais Amani- truly the perfect place to stay in Fez.

Palais Amani was truly a surprise. Nothing at this wonderful place has not been considered and adapted to make guests feel welcome, feel at home. Our suite was phenomenal, with the best bath products and a very smart layout, which allowed us to relax on the couch while overlooking the courtyard and the fountain. The hotel staff was beyond amazing. We were greeted by Kriselda, who was so friendly, welcoming, helpful, and considerate that we wondered if we just caught her on a really good day. But her positive and welcoming attitude continued every single day, as did the attitude of every single staff member we encountered. From the spa staff, to the waiters, to the other hotel staff (many of whom we never saw but knew were taking care of "the little things") - they were all simply wonderful.
Unobtrusive and welcoming service is a very unique and special skill. The staff here have definitely perfected it.

The food was delicious, the spa and hammam were wonderful, and the rooftop bar was a welcome way to spend the afternoon while overlooking the medina rooftops. The suite was well-designed and luxurious. The shared spaces were tranquil and calming. We can hardly wait to go back. If only more hotels excelled at what they do the way Palais Amani does.
