Due to a series of mishaps in Tanger, we arrived at 4am in the dark and rain. If you aren't used to Morocco, the "ambience" outside the wall is a little sketchy, but when you walk in the door of Palais Amani, you feel immediate relief, warmth, safety, luxury. From the employees through the very kind owners, they aim to please. This place was a highlight of the trip and a fantastic launching pad to experience the Medina.

Quality and superior service of a five star hotel, yet the homeyness of a riad. Hamas was terrific, terrace was amazing, food, cleanliness, touches, .... All top notch.

Wouldn't go anywhere else, and the other 5 hotels on this trip aren't getting this high praise.

We received a very warm welcome on our arrival being served mint tea and biscuits before being taken to our room. The hotel is beautiful and has been very tastefully restored and the gardens are very attractive. Our room was spacious and there was excellent attention to detail. We dined in the restaurant at the hotel and tried lots of food from the tapas menu which was all very nice. We also enjoyed the spa and the staff there were equally friendly and helpful. The hotel is well located in the medina and we paid the hotel to organise a guide for us who was great. We had booked the hotel through Mr and Mrs. Smith and had already paid them a deposit before we got there, and on check-out 1600 dirhams (around £160) had been added to our bill. It was not clear what this was for. Initially the receptionist said it was for a deposit, even though we were leaving, and had already paid a deposit. Then she said it was one of the nights, even though this would have taken the bill to several hundred pounds more than what we were quoted. We were also charged for biscuits and water which was in the room and no where did it say that this would be the case. This unfortunately tarnished what would otherwise have been a very lovely hotel stay.

Room tip: Room 12 appeared to be the most superior suite but we stayed in room 7 which was very nice

Dear Customer,
I appreciate the time you have taken to write about your experience with us and the emphasis you gave on the quality of your stay You particularly highlighted the spacious room and the large number of delights you experienced in your time with us. Having been upgraded, a practice that we regularly do when possible, naturally your luxury suite was spacious and I am glad that you enjoyed it along with the large variety of dining options and services we provide. As our bills are detailed, and you enjoyed a multitude of dishes and services that we offer, your bill ran over two pages. And as you correctly state there was effectively an error at check out. For this I can only apologize, and understand the incomprehension and annoyance experienced on your behalf. Although I wasn't personally present, I can only assume that the receptionist on duty was flustered and that the tensions increased as you all tried to understand the end amount. To give the reception some credit, recent modifications in M and Mrs Smiths' billing layout instructions threw the person editing your bill the night before check . But this should have been double checked prior to check out I agree, and I am very sorry that this soured the end of an otherwise highly successful stay.

The owners of this place must have taken years to reach such perfection. Our suite was huge with a view of the lovely garden, beautifully restored and totally modern yet with the strong feel of the art deco past and the even older Moroccan arts. The service was so personal, caring and helpful, the restaurant so perfect, the location just right. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Don't stay anyplace else. Try the spa too!

Room tip: Go for the best room you can afford.

My husband and I visited Palais Amani with another couple in December. Though in the middle of the medina, it is tranquil, charming and gorgeous. The entrance successfully hides this oasis.
The check in process was super smooth- the lady at the reception – was exceptionally friendly and made us feel welcome right away. She personally accompanied us to our rooms to ensure that we were happy with what we saw. The room we got was on the ground floor and our friends were on the 1st floor. Despite being on the ground floor, near the dining area, our room was very quiet.
The room itself is a perfect blend of Moroccon & Modern. The beds are very comfortable and given that it was the winter, they had extra heaters in our room if we needed. This made the entire bathroom and bedroom very cozy! It was perfect. The bathrooms too are modern and well stocked.
We loved the little gifts they had left on the bed for us- Moroccon slippers, a Moroccon hat, homemade chocolates and biscuits!
We decided to venture out for dinner (though the menu at Palais Amani looked amazing!). The receptionist gave us great recommendations and even called the restaurants to check for availability. She organized to have the restaurant send someone to accompany us through the medina!
The next morning, at breakfast, the owner personally came over to find out if we were enjoying our stay. A great personal touch. No demand was too much at breakfast. In addition to everything else they served, they also got us eggs when we requested for some!
We really enjoyed our stay and would go back!

We were thrilled to be greeted by Ghizlane when we arrived late one night by train from Marrakech. She was kind and welcoming and friendly when we must have looked like the most disheveled of travelers.

Despite our late arrival, we were welcomed to enjoy a delicious dinner in the restaurant--lovely and delicate lentil soup, flavorful chicken and beef tajine, and an orange creme tart were delicious and satisfying. The quality of ingredients was top-notch, and the attention to detail in both the preparation and the service was ever evident. Breakfast was absolutely delicious (and included in the room rate): coffee and mint tea, freshly squeezed orange juice, a perfect fresh fruit mix (sweet strawberries, pineapple, etc.), Moroccan pancakes with butter and honey, freshly made yogurt and golden raisins, warm bread, and an assortment of accompaniments such as fresh cheese, fruit spreads, olives . . . . And then we offered eggs!

The property and our room in particular were gorgeous. We especially enjoyed the comfortable bed, luxurious linens, and wonderful shower. The property's inner courtyard is amazing, with magnificent mosaics, columns, lemon trees, a fountain. Photos cannot capture the beauty and peace.

We could not have been happier with our decision to stay at the Palais Amani!
