"Now you are in your family", these are the most repeated words sayed by Kacem and his staff in this beautiful Riad located on the edge of the medina. And this is absolutely true! Everyone was so kind, the room was very comfortable, the view from the roof of the Riad beautiful and the dinner excellent (my wife could also partecipate at the preparation of a typical fassi Couscous..). If you plan to visit Fes you must stay there

The manager just can't do enough for his guests - I don't think he sleeps! In addition to the personalized service, the rooms and courtyard are simply beautiful. Room are a bit dark but that is true of most riads since there are no outdoor windows.

Riad Ahlam is well located in the Medina, walking distance to the souks. The view from the roof was breathtaking and captured a birds eye view of the whole Medina. Looked forward to the yummy daily breakfast. Room was spacious and clean, though a little dim. To top off our wonderful Fes experience, Kacem the Riad manager and other staff were very attentive, helpful and warm. Keep up the good work and we do hope to return one day!

Could not have been a better experience for our first night in Morocco. Many advantages to this place. First was the hospitality. After reading reviews of indifferent or unhelpful staff at many Moroccan hotels and riads, I was a bit apprehensive, . but the manager and staff at Riad Ahlam were wonderfully gracious and immediately set us at ease in so many ways. Our Moroccan style room was spotless and the bathroom fixtures, water pressure, and hot water (pretty good quality indicators) were impressive.

There was parking at a reasonable $3-4/day a few steps away (very rare for any medina), and just a few steps more and you were in the heart of the markets. The view from the roof top terrace was incredible and, from there, the manager (whose English is very good) gave us the lay of the land and ideas for hiking and dining. Breakfast was very good. More than anything, the manager Kacem, made our stay at Riad Ahlam very special and memorable. Could not recommend it higher.

This was was my first riad experience, and as I write this review I've been to two riads, so my experience with this type of accommodation is limited. This riad is quite close to the Fez medina. You can see the medina from the roof, and it's an easy 100 yard walk from the riad to the medina. The walk is across a parking lot which isn't very pretty, but it felt relatively safe and there are clear lines of sight between the riad and medina. If you absolutely must be in the medina itself, this isn't the riad for you, but it's so close that I don't see that as an issue for many.

We were greeted warmly upon our arrival, and the staff in general are gracious, kind, outgoing and friendly. The cook is rather jolly and laughs a lot. The cleaning staff are eager to help and will rush to take care of anything you request. The assistant manager doesn't speak much English, but tried very hard and was eager to help.

Our room was beautiful, though a bit damp. This was easily corrected by opening the windows to the central courtyard. Lighting is subdued and subtle, we had to move a couple of table lamps to help with reading, but the lighting does provide a very relaxing atmosphere.

We were three people, including a 12 year old boy, and we were made to feel welcome in every way. While we were there several other families with children of various ages visited, and all seemed comfortable and happy. The staff seem to like kids and pay special attention to them.

Breakfasts consisted of an enormous amount of carbs; crepes, rolls, bread, etc. with jam, honey and butter. orange juice and mint tea were always on offer. A ridiculous amount of food was presented each day, far more than we could possibly have eaten. On our first day we received an omelet, and I suspect the cook would try to accommodate any requests you might make. Fresh fruit and mint team were always available, and was offered to us unsolicited several times when we were sitting in the common areas.

The roof has a great view of the medina and "old" part of Fez, including bits of the rest of the city and surrounding environment.

Just based on what I've written so far, I'd recommend this riad without reservation. However, the manager, Kacem, is what truly sets this place apart. He's absolutely fanatical about customer service and was of tremendous help to us during our stay. I've literally never met a hotel manager who was more willing to do whatever was necessary to ensure our comfort. The airline lost our bags, Kacem called and arranged for us to get them back. We needed advice on whether to get a medina guide or not (no!) and Kacem helped with a map and practical advice. We had issues with getting enough Dirhams to pay for our desert guide, Kacem took care of it. So on and so forth. He went way above the call of duty and is the reason why this riad has the excellent ratings that it does.

We only stayed for one night but felt like valued family returning home. The atmosphere, service and comfort was superb. Thank you to Kacem and his team.

Rooms are beautifully finished and very comfortable. We had more than enough room.

It is only a very short walk to the many wonders of the medina and advice is readily available - and Kacem took the time to ensure we felt comfortable with his clear directions and map. We felt comfortable heading off alone into Fes.

Our best night so far in Morocco. We wish we could stay longer just to sit and enjoy the riad.
