“Beautiful Riad in Fes, with a lovely location and helpful team”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2012

Our family stayed in Suite Fes for 4 days in January and had a very good experience. We came from Casablanca by train and we asked the riad to arrange a taxi from us to the Medina (which was a very good idea). When we arrived, Adam was waiting for us by the entrance and led us to the Riad. The Riad itself was absolutely beautiful and clean and the owners were very friendly. They helped us with whatever questions we had, and even accompanied us to some stores. We also did the tour guide they suggested and were very pleased with it. The tour was about 6 hours long and they took us all over Fes to see the leather-making, ceramics, carpets, and much more; we enjoyed it to say the least. The breakfast was also very good; it consisted of boiled eggs, bread, honey, tea.

The location of the Riad itself was also ideal in that it was close to the restaurants and just a quick 5 minute walk to Bab Baujloud. Our rooms were cleaned daily, and we really enjoyed our suite in particular. Other than the fact that there was wifi only in the lobby (because the walls were too thick to have it in our room) we very much enjoyed this Riad and would most definitely recommend this Riad to anyone traveling to Fes! Thanks for such a great time!

The location, personnel, and the physical nature of the Riad were all impressive. The operators of the Riad arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the train station that we arrived at in Fes (we were coming from Casablanca). The taxi driver brought us to a cul-de-sac, where we were greeted by one of the workers of the Riad. He was very friendly and walked us to the Riad, which is located in the Madinah. The area is indeed safe and it's relatively close to major attractions. In addition, the Riad is actually located in a rather private alley, 20 meters of so away from bazaars and such. So there was a good balance of privacy and being close to major attractions. Upon entering the Riad, I was taken aback. The ceramics were phenomenal. The room that we stayed at was all the way on the top floor. The room was pretty lavish, housing four people, on two floors (1 entrance). One of the days during our stay we took a 6 hour tour in Fes, arranged by the Riad. The price was very reasonable. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and very well spoken. He was in fact the tour guide of Hilary Clinton and Ronald Reagen when they visited Fes in the past. We visited the oldest university in the world and many other memorable sites. As for shortcomings in the Riad, it was pretty chilly in the lounge area so in the morning I was forced to wear a jacket while eating breakfast. Apart from that really, everything was extraordinary. The Riad had a home-like feel and the workers at the Riad were very very helpful and polite, beyond anything I had expected. For instance, I asked one of the workers where a good barber shop is located, to get a hair cut. He walked me there, negotiated the price for me and walked me back too. Also, another worker drove us all the way to Marrakesh for a fair price. Of my stays in Casablanca, Fes, and Marrakesh, my stay in Fes was certainly the best. I certainly urge anyone who has the opportunity to stay in Fes to stay in this Riad.

Room Tip: The room that we stayed at was on the top floor. Going up and down those stairs was a good work out...

I stayed in this riad in January of 2012 and I very much liked it. The rooms were clean and with a nice atmosphere. The breakfast was good (the Moroccan breakfast: bread, marmalade, tea, coffee etc.)
I like the patio very much. This is also a nice place to stay with a family as they have one very big room divided over 2 floors. I would recommend it to stay here.

We had a really good expierence at the riad. We ask them to pick up us from the airport and they were there waiting for us for a looong time beacuse our flight was delayed for a few hours.
The room was really good, but as most of the rooms in the riadas it had a little lack of ventilation because it had no enough windows.
The location was absolutelu perfect, just a few steps from the main street but in a really quiet street, without any noise problems.
All the staf there were really friendly, maybe a little overprotectors, they help us with all what we needed. The breakfast was fantastic.

A perfect place for your Fes Medina experience. Excellent value, Moorish style rooms around traditional patio, comfortable, clean, friendly, bathroom stocked with Moroccan shampoo and body scrub. Great breakfast with unusual local specialities which you can have on the roof terrace with lovely view of medina rooftops.

We stayed at the Riad Al Akhawaine, we requested the taxi pick-up from the train station for 7euros. When we arrived to the Medina this lady named Hatima was waiting for us, she did talk, she guided us to the riad, we where rushing with our bags, trying to chase her. The only think she asked was if we wanted a guide. I was looking forward to the famous Moroccan hospitality, did not feel it. The riad has a great location, and it is beautifully decorated. I whish my family and I had a better experience, we felt like we were bothering Hatima everytime we had a question or a request, like an extra blanket because it was cold. We felt lost in the city. Very different experience at the other riads we stayed at.

Room Tip: They have a great room for a family of 4
