“Lovely Riad but pushy owners and mouldy damp room”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2011

The Riad itself is lovely, avoid the ground floor room which is poorly decorated using thin ply wood nailed over damp walls that smell mouldy and gave us a constant headache for the duration of the stay. THe bed was rock hard and very uncomfortable. THe owners were rude and pushy, forced an aweful 3 course meal on us on our first night, forced a FREE tour on us which included a taxi that we had to pay for, tips and places we didnt want to go in order to try and get us to buy things we didnt want to buy. THe male owner watched football on tele all night with the volume full blast until midnight which the whole Riad had to listen to! It was clean and the breakfast was good, it was close to everything.

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was very nice. It is a bit out of the main bit of the Medina, we were worried about finding it so it was very nice to have Abdul come and pick us up from the bus station, but once we knew where we were it was easy to get to all the main bits of town.
The only things that stopped it being perfect were the smell of damp in the bathroom, the really heavy bedding which made me feel like I was pinned down and a very squeaky bed which made me feel like I couldn't breath in case I woke everyone in the place up.
Otherwise it was very nice and everyone there was very friendly.

Laurence and Abderrahim are your ideal hosts in Fez!
We were the fourth guest in this cozy "dar", and we instantly knew we came to the right place.
Abderrahim picks you up from the airport, gives you some positive energy to start your stay in Fez, at the dar Laurence was awaiting us with some tea (and even made us breakfast). She really makes you feel at home. The rooms are all nice, we enjoyed the one on the balcony for 55 eur/night. A little chilly in winter, but Laurence gives you extra blanket in case needed. We suspect the room downstairs might get a lot of noise in the morning (from guests and from the kitchen). Price/quality: very good! We highly recommend paying Fez, and this French/Morrocon couple a visit!

After a 13 hour journey to fes, we were greeted by the very friendly Aabderrahim at the fes Train station, who brought my partner and I to the amazing Riad Dar Tamo - a hidden gem of fes! His collegue Laurence had morrocan mint tea and treats waiting for us when we arrived late that evening - the perfect start to our fes adventure!!

The riad is located in the residential area of the medina - close enough to the main attractions, but far away enough to escape the hustle and bustle of it. Very peaceful place.

We were privalidged to enough homemade local delights for breakfast and dinner. Take advantage of the beautiful rooftop terrace in the mornings - the view is spectacular!

The staff go beyond what us expected - absolutely incredible! Very friendly, hospitable and trustworthy. They specialise in catering to your needs and interests

I highly reccomend this everyone and will definately be returning on my next trip to morocco!
