I recommend this riad to everyone going to Fès. Its location is perfect for exploring the medina. The staff is incredibly nice and friendly, likes to talk to guests and helps with any problems or excursions outside Fès - they also picked us up from the bus station. The building is tastefully decorated and the rooms are very pleasant. Breakfast on the gorgeous roof terrace is delightful, spending evenings there is so too. The neighborhood is quiet. The rooms and all the riad are very clean, too.

The riad itself was quite nice. The breakfast was reasonable and the owner very pleasant.
On our first day I enquired to the owner about local parks or gyms for me to go running. The next morning a staff member said he'd take me to the Forrest where he and his friend run as they exercise/train every day of the week. I thought this was exceptionally generous to include me. The following day they offered to take me to the gym. It was expressed in a way that suggested they were going anyway. I should have known better but like to give people the benefit of the doubt with generosity. On our bill at the end of our stay was 20€ for "transport and sport coaching" When I queried this, I was instructed that I had requested this service. That was absolute rubbish!! The staff member was unable to have a conversation without abruptly talking over me whenever I tried to speak. It was a sour end and considering the trickery that was displayed, I don't recommend anyone stays here.

We stayed three nights in this lovely riad in the end of Dec 2013. It is located close to the main Souks, in the heart of the old Medina. The owner Abdel is charming and warm, he speaks several languages, and offered a good service overall with fair prices.
A couple of days before arriving, he emailed us saying a driver would have come to the airport to pick up and drive us to the hotel for 15 euros, which is good considering that it is not easy to get in to a public bus from the airport to Fes City once landed. The driver showed up 30 minutes late, so we had to wait a bit outside the main lounge. But then he picked us up and drove straight to R'Cif Square, then another guy showed up and guided us through the maze of narrow streets of the Medina to get to the riad, which is not easy to locate if you don't know the city - even with a map a complete rookie would get lost in 3 secs!
Once arrived, a nice mint tea was waiting for us on the table, served with some nice hand made sweets aside. A yummy welcome! We then left our luggages in the room - the top floor room, cozy and silent, warm enough thanks to a portable radiator - and were offered a guide to visit the main attractions. We decided to go for the non-official, which costed us 150 dirhams (the official was 250 dirhams), which turned out to be a good choice. the non official guide tends not to stay close to you when wandering in the street and don't give you extremely detailed information about the sites, just because he is "non official" (!!!) and cannot be caught by authorities. However, they know the city very well, they indicate you where to go and every time they reach an attraction they give you insights that are not in the official guidebooks. So very interesting!
We mostly ate in the streets, however we decided to have a dinner in the riad one night. It costed us 12 euros per person. Menu was essentially a tagine with beef, dates, figs and prunes, then as a dessert some nice fresh local fruit.Tasty! The only dark spot was the beer. They offered us two cans of beer we thought it was included in the menu. On the last day we realized we got charged €3.50 for each beer. Ouch!
We were pleased with the breakfasts: mint tea or coffee as main hot drink, then squeezed orange juice, two different jams, butter, soft cheese, honey (excellent!), moroccan bread and crepes. You can also order eggs (without getting charged for them).
But let's talk a bit more about the room. As we said, we stayed in the top floor one. It is right along the roof terrace - which offers a stunning view of the city!! - and is isolated from the rest of the rooms, so silent and with more privacy. The wi-fi does not cover the whole room, we were able to log in only if standing close to the windows or, obviously, staying in the main patio of the riad. The bathroom was essential and the shower had hot water, if even pressure was a bit weak so had to wait a few minutes every time we needed a warm shower. Not really the best but you can cope with it. They also have hairdryer if needed.
So general impression is very good, highly recommended.

We spent two days in this lovely riad in the heart of the old medina in Fes and it was one of the nicest experiences in our whole trip to Morocco. If I ever go to Fes again, I would choose this riad again. We were so content with the service, especially Mme Laurence and the food was excellent, too. In short, a little paradise!

We stayed in this riad as a "budget" option for 4 nights before travelling to Marrakesh and spending a few days in a more expensive and "luxurious" riad there. I have to say the difference between the two was very small considering the €60 per night price difference, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Dar Tamo. It is perfectly located in the medina - central but far enough away from the really noisy areas. I would echo other people's suggestions that you ask them to collect you the first time you arrive - you will struggle to find it even with a map.

When we arrived, there were only 2 other people in the riad so we were offered a choice of rooms - a 4-poster suite on the first floor or a smaller room next to the roof terrace. Because of the sunlight and views, we actually chose the smaller room - although it was itself a pretty large room and filled with traditional Morroccan furniture and decorations. The breakfast on the roof terrace every morning was a highlight of the day - and the owners and staff were very friendly, offering advice and arranging day trips for us.

The only negative point about the hotel was the bed, which was extremely hard and fairly uncomfortable pillows. Despite this, we slept well as the riad is very quiet despite its central location - one of the perks of a car-less city!

Before we booked, we were concerned the hotel might be little more than a basic hostel, so we were a bit nervous about booking. This was completely unfounded - I actually think the owners could be justified in increasing their prices by 50% or so, so it's decent quality for a very budget price. If we return to Fes, we will definitely stay here again.

We spent one night in Dar Tamo Riad. It's not too easy to find, but people in the Medina are friendly and willing to help. There is only one room (the most expensive one, of course!) with A/C and windows opening to the outside. All other rooms have windows opening to the indoor patio. Furniture show the age, the washroom could be updated, there was some issue with flushing the toilet. Despite these minuses, our stay was rather pleasant. The owner arranged a guide who took us to the nice restaurant in the neighbourhood and we got a generous breakfast despite leaving very early in the morning. The rooftop patio is a bonus (great view when the sun sets and the calls for prayer flow above the Medina), but the furniture there could use more care and/or updating. Overall, OK stay for one night in Fes, but if one plans more time in the city, should probably search for nicer/cozier/more modern Riad.

Room Tip: If one cares for window opening to the outside and/or A/C in the room, should book the most expensiv...
