We stayed at La Maison Maure for 2 nights in November of 2011. The owner, Christian, and manager, Driss, provided over the top warm hospitality. The beautifully renovated Riad Hotel was less than a year old and is a nice combination of traditional and modern. The decor was stunning and felt like a boutique hotel. The location is close to everything. And it was nice to have reliable wifi.
Our room on the 4th floor was very spacious with a sofa, down comforter and large thick towels in the bathroom. It was only a few steps from the lovely rooftop terrace, although those who have issues with stairs might want a lower level room. Also if you are a light sleeper, I would request an interior room. Breakfast was fabulous with homemade baked family recipes, homemade yogurt, local honey and preserves, local flat breads, freshly squeezed orange juice, French press coffee and tea.
Christian took us on a mini tour to see the tannery and a local honey seller. I also had great conversation with him and another guest one evening over a bottle of local wine.
Both Christian and Driss were there to help with every need. Their kindness went well beyond our expectations. My husband was sick and they gave him some medicine. And they even helped us book our hotel in another city.
Our stay at La Maison Maure was the highlight of our visit in Morocco. I wish we could have stayed longer.
