My boyfriend and I stayed for four nights at Dar Hafsa and could not have asked for a better place to stay during our trip to Fes!
From the moment we arrived in Fes the owner, Abdul Karim could not have done more to help us. He met us in person at the Blue Gate and guided us through to Dar Hafsa- which is brilliantly located on a quiet side road off the main street, only about a 5-10 (if you walk slow like us!) walk.
The guesthouse itself is beautifully decorated and our room (on the ground floor) was lovely and peaceful an also kept very cool- which is very welcome after a long walk in the medina! There is an air conditioning unit in the room if you like but we did not find we needed to use it.
Abdul helped to make our trip in Fes the very best it could be- recommending us sites to see and offering advice on which restaurants are best to avoid and those places where we could get excellent value, local food. He turned out to be right each time! He also arranged a guide for us to tour the old , medina and its very winding streets, as well as a driver to tour the surrounding mountain towns. This was all at quite short notice but he sorted everything out for us as though it were no trouble at all and with a smile! When I mentioned that I would like to buy some Rhassoul clay during my stay he even offered to buy some for me to get me a good price and quality.
I must also mention the delicious breakfast- the first morning we were amazed as he bought out a huge spread of delicious looking plates for us including various pastries and crepes/doughnuts as well as honey, jam and boiled eggs.
Overall I would like to thank Abdul and his daughters; who also work with him, for a brilliant stay and we hope to return! If you are looking for good quality accommodation at an excellent price and with a personal touch then this is the perfect place to stay.
