Lovely Dar in Fes. Easy to find! Just follow the signs! And the staff is so friendly! The food was great too! We ordered dinner and it was above all our expectations! Also, we arrived on a bus from Merzouga at 4 a.m. (all the city was asleep) and we had a reservation only for the next night, but the friendly guy helped us with everything and let us stay and wait for the breakfast on a couch.

This is a wonderful decorated Morrocan dar. They arranged a taxi for us from the airport and Mohammed came to pick us up at the port. I'd recommend you to do is this way, because the dar is difficult to find on your own. We arrived around 10 o'clock and got a great breakfast (one of our best in Morocco!) from Lamiyae. She's very lovely and helpful. In the afternoon, they had arranged a guide for us - Ali - who was very friendly and told us a lot about Fes. The room was good as well as the bed. The bathroom was small, but okay for us. Mohammed is always in for a chat, we appreciated that very much. I would stay here again when I'm in Fes!

Excellent Riad to stay in when visiting Fes and its medina. The service was truly fantastic and not only helped us to get round the city but was also there to have a nice conversation with and treated us like family. The location is perfect right in the beginning of the medina, easily accessible when you enter from one of the main gates (Bab Boujloud). Room was beautiful and very comfortable, great decoration everywhere.

Thank you Abdul for treating us like good friends, we truly hope to see you again in Fes inchallah and enjoy a good coup of Bisara with you!

Many hugs,
Silvia and Charif

We were happy to be welcomed in such a friendly manner, with mint tea, by Laymia and Mohammed when we arrived, but it quickly felt overbearing. We had been in Morocco for over a week at that point and rather than asking, they went over the very basic basics with us again and seemed to be put off when we already knew that people were going to try to guide us and rip us off. We also felt some pressure to have dinner there the first night, which was presented as an option "with no pressure," but after they talked about the menu for 20 minutes, we felt pressure to agree... It was a bargain, at 100 dirhams each, and we were encouraged to bring a bottle of wine (which Mohammed had difficulty opening, corking the wine in the end). The dinner was good, and an easy option for our first night, but not one that we would have necessarily chosen.
Our room was nice enough, but the air conditioner dripped all night. When I explained this in the morning, Laymia said tha she would have someone take care of it, but it still dripped the second night, torturing us with the sound and creating a huge puddle on the floor. Also, the door to the bathroom was a shower stall door, sealing the room off from the bedroom because there was no wall or curtain seperating the shower, which was located in the middle of the room between the sink and the toilet, from the rest of the bathroom.
We left early our second morning and they were nice enough to pack us a breakfast of yogurt drink and cocnut cookies.
Loud music was played until 11 PM in the common areas, which we found to be excessive.

Are you sure you want to stay inside the Medina? Ask yourself that before you book a hotel/riad in Morocco. It is a wonderful and different experience, but it is not for everyone. If you are travelling for many days through Morocco, you can and you will get tired of it. You might prefer to choose a riad inside the Medina in smaller towns like Chefchaouen and choose a hotel outside the Medina in Fes and Marrakesh.
But if you have just a few days in Morocco, you should stay inside the Medina to have this experience. The Fes Medina is the most interesting and most stressful in Morocco.
Said that, the Riad is very charming decorated, rooms are clean, aircon works well, good bed and cushions. It is very quiet and peaceful, although it is located at the heart of the medina.
The bathroom is really small and I cant see a way to improve it. It is going to bother you after three days. For short stays it is OK.
The food there is wonderful, I had dinner there during all my stay. I wasn't able to find a better couscous anywhere in Morocco.
The breakfast was the best I had during my trip. Keep in mind it is moroccan style, you will have a variety of pastries and no fruits for breakfast.
Lamiyae works there until 4PM and she is the sweetest person in Morocco!!! Salah Eddine, that is there at evening and night is also very friendly and helpful. They can speak English, what is rare in Morocco. They are always there for you and they can make your stay there very pleasant so that you desire to return someday to see them again. I hope so! ;-)
As it is usual in a riad, there is no lift and you need to use the stairs, that are steep and narrow.
Not appropriate for elderly and disabled people.

There are only four rooms so it was quiet and peaceful.

The hotel is really easy to find and it's well located.

The room was traditional, clean and spacious. The bed was also nice. The bathroom was old and the sink small.

The breakfast is superb (three different kind of bread, jam, fresh orange juice, coffee or mint tea). Every time we got back from the medina we could ask for mint tea or orange juice (and it was totally free). And it was the best mint tea we had in Morocco.

Staff was really friendly and helpful.
