I found Plan-It-Fez through a video of their food tours. I booked a food tour, a day tour of Fez and a henna tattoo. For all the tours I was picked up at my hotel and brought back there afterwards.
The food tour was really interesting. Gail took me through the food souk to various stalls selling a variety of Moroccan Foods, some of which I was able to sample. The visit to the honey souk was especially interesting. I tried 8-10 different kinds of honey and was amazed at how different they tasted. For lunch we purchased a few things like sardines, potatoe cakes and then took them with us to eat at a stall selling bean soup. Great experience.
My guide for the day tour of Fez was Ali. He was really good - very informed and really helpful and he did not pressure me to buy anything. We walked through the medina, visited several medersas, the wood museum and the tanneries. The tanneries were amazing. Then we went by car to the Royal Palace and Jewish quarter and then to a viewpoint of the City and the potteries.
I had the henna tattoo in a private house, which also gave me the opportunity to see what a house in the Medina looks like inside the walls. I was very happy with the tattoo.
If I go to Fez again I will certainly use Plan-It Fez again.

I was fortunate enough to be recommended Michelle @ Plan-it-Fes by chance through a friend.
From the first to the last e mail, phone call & meeting Michelle was helpful, flexible & responsive.
We spent 10 days in Morocco [Marrakech & Fes] in September & were delighted by our experience. The arrangements made via service [including guides, drivers] were reliable, helpful, professional & enthusiastic. I would highly recommend the day hike [if that is all you have time for] in the High Atlas, the Food Tasting trip in Fes & a traditional Hammam visit. Michelle certainly has the communication & organizational skills essential to this complex, cross cultural role.

A casual conversation with Gaye Reeves of Aya Sofia hotel in Istanbul last year, about her daughter Michele Reeve's travel agency in Morocco, proved to be most providential, when my friend and I found ourselves planning an itinerary to make the most of our Study Tour with Art of Islamic Pattern last month.
We connected via email with Michele and her colleague Kerry at Plan-it-Fez, and over many more emails, they very very patiently listened to our concerns and helped us to plan an extra 5 days in Fez that took our already exciting trip to another level!
Their insistence on sharing all our credit card details whilst booking the tours was a bit odd though, and I took a great leap of faith in giving in to those demands. However I must say, it worked out well for us, and despite their somewhat pricey rates, we got to see different aspects of life in Fez and beyond in comfort and style, making our travels so very memorable.

At the outset we did two wonderful culinary tours that set the tone for our trip and helped us to eat wisely and well. The Souk Tasting Trail with infectiously enthusiastic Sihame and Hassan, gave us a great insight into the local foods and flavours as we tasted and sampled our way through the street foods of the Souk..... we loved the breads (the harsha and beghrir were a favourite) and sandwiches, the mouth watering sweet cactus fruits, the refreshing fresh fruit juices (the pistachio juice was amazing!).
The next day we did a Cooking with a Family tour that started with shopping for ingredients in the market and ended with dining at home on delicious fare that we had cooked together with Fatima and her mother. The high point of this tour was learning to make the local bread Khobz, from Fatima's mother - complete with making the dough, leaving it to rise, then kneading it again to just the right consistency and baking it at the local bakery like everyone else. The lamb and vegetable tagines kept us licking our fingers for a long time afterwards.

On completion of our Study Tour, we took off with Si Mohammed, the courteous and helpful driver provided by Plan it Fez for a relaxed day trip to the Roman ruins of Volublis and on to Meknes where we took in the sights and sounds and I got to sample the famed Pastilla - another delicious Moroccan delicacy....
The next day we went all the way to Chefchaouen,...a delightful Andalusian influenced hill station, where we wandered amid the blue tinted lime washed houses in the medina area (apparently it had the effect of warding off insects - was also interesting to know that the indigo for that blue tint comes from India !!!). We had a leisurely lunch with a fellow participant of the study tour, before returning to Fez late that evening. We were indeed very grateful to Si Mohammad, an excellent driver, who drove us there and back, all the while, sharing nuggets of information along the way about the local culture and history, and ever so graciously taking a detour to allow us to take in the Mellah area and a view of the Palace in Fez, (something we had missed so far) before reaching us back to Bab R'Cif....

Thank you Plan - it - Fez, for your professional yet personalised touch. The gesture of packing samples of the food to take back for friends who had dropped out due to jet lag induced exhaustion was much appreciated. Thank you Gail for sparing time to chat with us on your off time, offering to find us accommodation at Chefchaouen in case we opted to stay back, and for the advice about taking the train back to Rabat from Casablanca. We did just that and got to see a bit of Rabat too.

Gail came round to the dar that we were staying in and went through all the possible options as we were staying a week. We decided to have a half day tour of the medina, a dance lesson and a country walk and picnic. When we first got to Fes we were quite overwhelmed by tHe streets and the logistics of it all but after meeting Gail felt so much more confidant. Out guide for the half day was excellent! He was determined that we got he most from our time and we couldn't shop!!! Yes he took us to a traditional tagine place for lunch and other tourists were there but he was concerned that we needed to go somewhere where the food was cleanly prepared for our unfamiliar western stomachs! In fact we only got upset stomachs after going on our own to somewhere in he new town for lunch.

We booked him for a half day shopping trip and gave him our list of what we wanted and he took us to some great places, some of which we revisited on our own. The dance class was wonderful as was the hammam. I would really recommend them both highly, especially the hammam as we would never have got that experience with local women otherwise. We finally went outside Fes and had a lovely countryside visit with an amazing picnic lunch prepared by Michelle and her family - don't miss this if you want to experience high quality home cooking!

Gai also recommended a couple of great restaurants that were really different and in beautiful settings. Our confidence grew and at the end of our week we were able to get to tHe main shopping streets on our own and walk to and from the restaurants without a thought! A fantastic end to an unforgettable week. Fes has entered our hearts and I truly believe that a large part of the success of our week was plan it Fez. Please use them, you will not regret it! We liked to think of ourselves as pretty independent travellers etc but in somewhere like Fez I think that it is imperative to have some local help and support to really get to grips with it. Thanks Gail and Michelle xxxx

The guide and driver were both very good and nice. But the price is very expensive. After I got to Fez, I found out that i could get an English speaking driver/guide from my hotel to take the same trips, for half the price.
