When I read some of the reviews of this hotel I feel there must be two of them! Sure the hotel has gardens and a swimming pool, and the rooms are of a generous size, but the service is plain and the breakfast is forgettable. In fact the breakfast spread is so out of touch with Western tastes I wonder why the tour operators still use this place?
We stayed here for two nights and although the room was big, it did not compensate for the broken toilet seat and the insular attitude of the staff.
By far the most disturbing aspect was the "average" food available to guests. Some may call it exotic, but to my mind it was very ordinary.

The Menzeh in Fez was just a delight. I stayed there as part of a Cosmos tour in November 2012. The rooms were spacious and clean, with a beautiful en-suite.
We had a bacony overlooking lush gardens and a large pool. If i didn't know better i would think that a was at a tropical oasis.
The Menzeh has everything you could want, restaurants, night club, pizzeria, beauty salon. Free Wi Fi in the lobby. The staff were friendly and the food was good.
I would recommend the Menzeh to anyone travelling through Fez.

Room Tip: Room with balcony with view of pool. (Although I think they all do)

stayed for 3 nights, I'll get straight to the bad because well, the good is not what we first base our choice on...
on arrival there was no information provided regarding hotel facilites, or tourist information.
the food is of an average standard, the service is terrible/non existant!! breakfast is simply pastries although the juice was lovely & fresh, the coffee was at best luke warm!!
dinner is of moroccan fare, I'm not a fan which does not help i guess.
its more the service, no offfer of drinks, instruction or how was your meal?! the staff were dispondant & spoke no english!!
the bar is averagly priced for a hotel, the selection of wines did not exist, simply a moroccan red or white.
the pizzeria is not really a fare decription, edible but nothing more.
no room service, nothing in mini bar in room, no information on hotel or laundry in room. on request i did get some cloths laundered, good service at reasonable price although again no english spoken "bra, bra?" holding up my trousers!! amusing a little!!
the bar & club on the hotel grounds is really just a knocking shop after 10/11pm, not a family enviroment!! well in fact I'm 32 & single & i didn't care much for it!! aribic music blaring loudly every nite untill 5am which can b heard in the room!! not great really with the usual unsavorie people it attracts!!
finally i had no hot water for a day, well the best part of, raised the issue at reception, apologetic & told it would be fixed in half an hour, well half an hour here can mean anything!! as it was by 7pm i was sent to the sister hotel to shower, making my own way of corse & not greeted there with a welcome, in fact the complete opposite!! no offer of compensation, a drink on us perhaps, really not good enough in my opinion!!
the reception staff are if nothing else polite & helpful when approached & do speak good english, as with much of this country nothing is forth coming unless you ask or grease the wheels so to speak!!
on the positive side the room was lovely, spacious, clean & comfortable!! i realky did rate the room, great views, nice pool & grounds, good location. this hotel does have potential!! the water incident was most likely just unfortunate but still not handled well. its a mixed bag if reviews really, pay your money take a chance type place!!
I'm on the fence with this one, i doubt I'd recommend but you could get kucky n enjoy what is potentially a lovely hotel.

The Hotel Menzeh Zalagh proved to be of superb value with truly excellent staff and a caring and courteous General Manager. Excellent food from Pizzas and snacks to a true Moroccan buffet with Tajines and more! Nice bar and helpfull front desk staff to complete a great stay in the Cultural capital of Morocco! Highly recommended for 4 star accommodation. Nice gardens too with excellent swimming pool.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the city from the rear garden side of the hotel

I loved this hotel for it's mosaics, staff and authentic Morrocan feel. The room was huge but purely standard. The view was of an alley. While walking in the area, we found dumped medical waste in the street. Our local guide was a very gracious and kind man. He took us to a great local restaurant that was off the beaten path.
