“Not recommended-dirty & things stolen”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 December 2013

We stayed in this riad for four nights on a recent trip to Morocco based on the good reviews. I don't know who the reviewers were, but our experience was drastically different. The riad is a located in Fes Medina, and the house is quite nice. When we arrived, they served us mint tea right away, which was quite pleasant. The staff was friendly, but hardly spoke a word of English. What is very different from all other places that I have stayed at is that the owner actually asked us to pay for the whole stay up front. I am a frequent traveler, and this has NEVER happened to me. The room was pleasant, but very basic. There is not even a chair that you can sit in. When we arrived, they didn't even have the sheets on the bed. We had to put the sheets on by ourselves, and the sheets were so thin that you can basically see through it. My friend stayed in another room, and found dead bugs right under the flat sheet. The bathroom appeared to be dirty, and the towels they gave us were really old, rough and stained. The next morning, we discovered that the drainage system doesn't really work in the shower. Also the hot and cold water mixing doesn't quite work properly. Breakfast was served in the courtyard, although it is the middle of December. All of the other riads that we stayed at had a plastic cover that would covered the top of the courtyard to help keep the cold air out. This one was just left open. Eating out in open air in the winter is not my cup of tea. Everything that was on the table was basically stone cold, and we all had to bundle up in our ski jackets and eat in the cold. The most unbelievable part of the experience was that on the second morning, I discovered that someone had gone through my bags and stole my blush and eyeliner pencil. I didn't say much that morning, and re-arranged my cosmetic bag as usual and left it out just to see if anyone would touch it again. Sure enough, someone had gone through my bag again when we came back that day. One day 3, we were moved to another room as the drain in our bathroom was leaking. The new room was on the ground floor, and had no heating whatsoever. Again, the hot and cold water mixing didn't really work in the shower, and drainage was also a problem. All that said, the owner is quite helpful with booking reservations at restaurants. I WILL NOT recommend this riad to anyone based on our experience, and I think the owner has a lot to learn about what is involved in running a hotel.

It really gave me a lot of trouble that you have published on our Riad and you know very well that we did all our best in order to satisfy you as we could and our Riad is a modest establishment of a simple, traditional style of Moroccan life,it is a guest house we do not have the comfort of a 5 stars hotel or prices three or four times our rates. For cold you felt in Mrs Paseo Riad that you must know the definition of the riad is a house with a garden that leads directly to heaven it is not covered then, it is all completely normal to be cold in December although by your room was equipped with air conditioning. To change the room you know it was an incident that happened ( clogging of water) it can happen at any place and at any time the fault still existing and even I changed the room for you more expensive than the one you rented room so as to be able to satisfy you . For the problem of flies that you quoted in your comment it was necessary to clarify travelers that problem it was a pencil wich you lost in our Riad and it does not allow you treated us with that big word flight as the gents will think we really stole something very valuable , you were really aggressive with us all over it never happened with anyone whatsoever to our Riad . Anyways I am very sorry and my respects to you Madam.

Riad Les Chrifis is beautiful, clean, in a central location and run by perhaps the friendliest and most helpful man in Morocco. Essam made us feel like part of his family and we had a wonderful time there.

This riad is worth recommendng. Very well situated, with lovely decorated peaceful patio and nice rooms. Staff is very helpful and boss will take care of you. They serve the best breakfasts in Marocco! If you want to stay in Fez - this riad is a must.

I can really recommend anyone to come to this riad. Never before i had a hotel calling me in germany before the journey to aks if everything´s fine and to arrange the airport transfer. The Chief of the Riad was very friendly and helped us with everything we needed, including a matrace change on the second floor to optimize the comfort ! And when i had a medical emergency, he made contact and brought me to a special clinic and took me to the airport. Wow. The Riad is beautiful, new and clean, with a beautiful yard with trees to hang around. It has internet, tv, breakfast and cooking but also a kitchen for self-catering, and it is located in the Medina, about 400 metrea from the Bab Boujloud, in a calm side street, which is very nice. So go there and enjoy Fes !!

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was perfect! Perfect location, a wonderful house and a very friendly owner who showed us a place to go for a run and brought us to a hammam...
This is a top choice! You won't regret it...

Les Chrifis is a beautifl, silent place just in the center of Fes' medina. It's a true riad with a beautiful garden inside, the orange fruit trees and birds waking you up singing. The rooms are very cosy and the bathrooms have special hammam bowls and buckets like in Arabic bath.

Anyway the most important of all is the owner who host you with Morocan hospitality in it's best issue. It was his home from his very childhood and you can really feel like being a guest traveller on your road through Moroco.
