“STUNNING”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2010

Went to Fez for 3 nights with a couple of my friends and stayed at a different riad every night. (Riad le Calife 1st night, Riad Fez 2nd, Riad Laaroussa 3rd). The 3 riads we stayed at were all charming in their own ways - what impressed me the most about riad Fez was its VERY beautiful lobby. It was the grandest out of the 3 we stayed at, and at night when the fountains light up, there's nothing more relaxing than chilling out with shisha at the bar by the fountain, looking up at the stars with paris lounge music in the background.

Service was also more than satisfactory- My friends and I chatted for a looong time that night so the next morning we were unable to wake up in time for breakfast, which was included in our booking. We then received a phone call from our staff who asked if we were okay and offered to bring us our breakfast to our room instead. It was lovely!

Would definitely recommend riad Fez.

This hotel is beautiful, the building itself is probably the nicest in Fes. The service was excellent they were attentive and reactive. The breakfasts and food were excellent, the yoghurt at breakfast was the best I have ever tasted and I don't even like yoghurt. The bar is stylish and the moroccan biscuits that they sell you with the mint tea is a brilliant way to unwind after the hectic Fes streets.

There are excellent views from the roof terraces over the whole of the medina because this Riad is on the edge of the medina at the top of the hill. The location is brilliant as you are a few corners away from the main shopping streets.

When we left the porters took our bags to a taxi and we got a decent price on the taxi. This is probably the best thing about this hotel it didn't feel like it was trying to make as much money from you as possible and yet it was luxurious. This was the best place we stayed in Morocco.

My wife and I had booked ourselves into the Riad Myra, which looks very nice in the pictures online. However, when we got there, the room was very cold and poorly heated, and so we decided to find a different place. We checked into the Riad Fes the next day, and liked it a lot better. The whole standard of finish is much higher, and the restaurant is good.

The only negative point was one of the service people, who was quite unresponsive when our taxi to the train station was meant to be coming. The other staff were good.

We booked a guide to Fez through the hotel, and he was very good. Unlike Marrakech, which is hard to find your way around, Fez is simply impossible to find your way around on your own. Also, in Marrakech there are thousands of tourists, so you as an individual won't get hassled much by people wanting to be your "guide". In Fez, there are fewer tourists, so you will get more hassle unless you already have a proper guide. Getting a guide through the hotel is probably the best way to go.

There is free Wifi (not the fastest, but it works), although only in the foyer, not the rooms. (That was true in Dec.2008, anyway. It might have changed since then).

I loved Fes and loved Riad Fes. Beautiful riad in the Fes medina. I loved it-stayed in one of the junior suites which was absolutely amazing. Probably larger than many of the riads but still great place to stay.

I went here for my honeymoon and was immediately impressed by the lobby which is as beautiful as the pictures. We were fortunate enough to get upgraded to the Royal Suite. Thanks Marketing Manager! This Royal Suite was great but I would have been disappointed if I was paying the 1,000/night it costs.

The reason I'd give this an average review is that the hotel doesn't have anything to do. I know it's in Fez and you're supposed to walk around the alleys all day and be amazed, but I wanted to chill out a bit in a nice place - that's why I was paying above average to stay here.

The other reason I wasn't impressed was the second room I stayed in was up on the roof and I thought it would be nice, but it was clearly just a cement addition and the bathroom shower leaked all over the place and flooded the main room. So the place had a mildewy smell.

I've traveled a ton around the world and stayed in Four Seasons and in tents and mud huts so I know good and I know bad. This was certainly nice but I just expect more from a place that has rooms for 1000/night.

Lastly, Fes isn't really a place to stay for more than a day or so. It's alley after alley and stall after stall of vendors.

Fes is amazing (we liked it better than Marrakech, to be honest). And Riad Fes is just stunning! We were so impressed with the main lobby and the general decor and architecture of this place. In addition, service is great, staff is friendly. Our room was of a good size, not big, but not too small either. The room was greatly decorated though. Very cosy and comfortable. We had a little private terrace as well (but it was too hot outside to actually use it during the day). On our last day, we had some delicious food in the restaurant, which we can highly recommend. We were here on a short trip for a wedding but would consider coming back to Fes, just to stay at this Riad!

The Riad Fes is in a great location and is absolutely beautiful. The food at the restaurant was fabulous. The rooms are all unique and views from the terrace are incredible. This is the best place to stay in Fes. Enjoy!
