“Oasis of calm amongst the wonderful madness of the medina!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 December 2012 via mobile

Sabah, FZ and the staff made our stay in Fes so memorable. What an introduction to Morocco! From organising transport from Casablanca airport to restaurant ideas and information on all that Morocco has to offer, nothing was too much trouble!
The riad is beautiful, the views from the terrace stunning and the mint tea excellent. The hammam and massage wonderful.
Thoroughly recommend a guided tour of the medina which the staff help organise. The guide we had took us for some amazing local food.
Fes and the Riad Laaroussa were two stand-out highlights of our trip. Thank you!

My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights. We were given the "blue room", upstairs. While it was a steep walk up the stairs, the sitting area and location to the terrace were great. The room was large and bathroom was huge! The breakfast we had was enormous and delicious, as was the tangine dinner we enjoyed there. What set this riad apart was the staff....they were so friendly and really just enjoyed talking with the guests. FZ was very sweet and did an excellent job!

We spent 4 nights in this lovely, quiet haven in the heart of the medina in Fez. The gracious owners, the capable and friendly staff and the food served were all wonderful. Breakfast is included in the price of the room and it is bountiful and delicious - the coffee is to die for! We came home from this trip and had to buy an espresso maker to try to satisfy my longing for the coffee prepared here at Riad Laaroussa. All of the rooms are different - each assigned a name based on the color in which they are decorated - and all are very comfortable (loved the bed linens) and they are air conditioned. We were here at the very end of May and into the early part of June and it was already getting very warm. The roof top dining area offers nice views and a great spot to enjoy a glass of wine before dinner. And, yes, there is plenty of wine available here. We had dinner each evening as well and the menu was varied and delicious. There are other restaurants available, of course, and the owners have plenty of suggestions.

You are able to shop and cook with the kitchen staff one day upon prior arrangement - and it's free! You can arrange for tours, taxis to any place in the area through the riad (we arranged to be picked up by private taxi at the new port in Tangier - Tangier Med- and driven the 5 1/2 hours to Fez for about $210 USD, took a medina tour and a day tour to Volubilis with a driver as well).

We really enjoyed coming back to this quiet retreat - a lovely courtyard with fountain and citrus trees greets you - at the end of a day full of a great deal of noise and so many people. We highly recommend this riad and it's wonderul staff.

From your first step into the huge space of the entry, lit by candles, to entering your room or suite, everything about this place will delight you. It has been lovingly renovated, using every form of Moroccan art and craftsmanship you could imagine. Our rooms had a common living room with a fireplace that just made the space more homey and cozy. Couches, candlelight, wonderful art on the walls, books to borrow...check out the website and trust the photos!
The service is perfection. Whatever you need to make your stay happier, you'll have it in the blink of an eye. The food was so good we ate in every night...and the breakfast is killer!!! There is no place you can find that doesn't have a stunning or charming view. We were grateful for the one rainy day when we decided to stay in, enjoy the fireplace, reading, and the food. Heavenly!
(Tiny suggestion: as in all of Morocco, flies were a problem, even in the dining room. Would it be possible to put cans of insect spray in the rooms?)

This is an amazing place to stay - inside the medina, very close to the main streets but a perfect haven from the busy streets. We had a huge suite (the Green Suite) with a fireplace which was nice on a couple of cool evenings. The breakfasts were good and served on the roof terrace in an enclosed area (as it was November). We had dinner here one night which was excellent - probably one of the best meals we'd had in Morocco. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Sabah and FZ. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Riad Laaroussa is not to be missed! It is simply exquisite! We stayed in the Blue room (1 full and 1 twin bed) the room was extremely large with a sitting area and high ceilings. The bathroom was beautiful! The rest of the room is also beautifully appointed. I slept in the twin bed and it was quite comfortable. The two labrador retrievers are friendly and nice to have around. We ran into Kathy one morning and she was very nice. FZ is a delight (she must get tired of hearing that). Breakfast was delicious and filling; crepes, bread, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, mint tea, freshly squeezed orange juice, the list goes on. We had dinner one night in the Riad and it was also excellent. The chicken tangine was cooked to perfection and the flourless chocolate cake was to die for. If you are in Fes, you must stay here!

This is such a beautiful and special place in the middle of the medina. The staff were very welcoming, especially FZ, who made our stay very special. She was very gracious and made us feel right at home. My mother had difficulty with lots of stairs, so FZ had our breakfasts and a dinner set up on the ground floor in the middle of the gorgeous courtyard. The owners, Fred and Kathy, were always present with nice conversation and any help that we needed. I especially loved the two labrador retreivers as well. Our ground floor room was very large with magnificant ceilings. The furnishings of the enitre riad are exquisite. We also had a hamam and massage after a full day of sightseeing .In the spa, Rajae and Nezha, provided a relaxing and satisfying massage. Overall, this hotel is a beautiful gem.

Room Tip: For people with mobility issues, choose the ground floor rooms.
