We had a wonderful stay here on our honeymoon. The food was fantastic - we had breakfast two mornings and dinner one night. The service was outstanding - everyone in the hotel was hospitable and friendly. Beautiful Riad - Would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: We stayed in the red room which was lovely and comfortable. One note to travelers - the bathroom, including the toilet are right in the open room area. It is far away from the bed and separated with a low wall and some plants but it is in the open. Same with the shower but the shower has no wall.

This place is a gem. Of all the riads I have stayed in, this is definitely number one! The staff are kind and helpful - particularly FZ. The rooms are as you see them on the website - absolutely stunning. I stayed in the red room with my sister. Fred the owner, is always up for a chat and is very hospitable! This place made Fez one of the highlights of my trip to Morocco.

We were a group of 6 traveling through Morocco. We rented the Grey, Red and Yellow rooms, all of which were extremely nice. The Yellow room was actually larger than what it looks like on the Internet. The personal service given to us by the young lady ( I do apologize, as I've forgotten her name) was outstanding. She did everything to make our stay comfortable. Breakfasts and dinners here are both excellent. One dinner we had up in the terrace room, and other was in the salon on the ground floor. (The weather was chilly, so we enjoyed the fireplace in both dining locations).

There are 2 reasons why this riad was given 4 stars and not 5. First of all the stairs, particularly for those in the Grey room, are onerous. Those people had to come down to the ground floor and then climb back up 3 stories in order to have breakfasts on the terrace. The stairs are very uneven and some steps are as high as 12 to 14 inches. The second reason is that unfortunately the toilet in the Yellow room was not in working order when we arrived. Though they eventually got it working, it caused 1/3 of our party to have a very unpleasant arrival.

We would not hesitate to return, as overall it is felt the positives out weigh the negatives. This really is a lovely riad, with service to match.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely, even the least expensive ones. However if you have any problem with your knees or mobility, you may want to inquire about the suitability of this riad.

Riad Laaroussa is one of the nicest places my wife and I have ever stayed. The building itself is beautifully decorated and maintained and close to the Blue Gate (only a 5 minute walk from where our taxi had to drop us off). We ate a delicious dinner at the restaurant the first night, and after eating out the second night decided to come back for one more dinner our 3rd night because it was so good. We also had a spa treatment and spent time in the hammam, and enjoyed both.
The thing that really sets Laaroussa apart, however, is the people. The staff seem like more of a family than co-workers, and they extend that warmth to their guests. We felt so welcomed and really enjoyed meeting and talking with them.
The only negative was the price of the Riad. It was a wonderful place to stay, and we're glad that we went there, but even so it was far and away the most expensive place we stayed in Morocco.

Having said that, I would certainly suggest Laaroussa to a friend, and if we were to return to Fes, we would consider highly staying there again.
