One word- perfect. Perfect describes the staff, accommodation, atmosphere, service, location and memories. I loved the friendliness of the staff as we were made to feel so welcome. The decor of the rooms is a mixture of traditional Moroccan and beautiful modern luxuries. Entering the front door of Riad Laaroussa was a memory that will live in my mind for a very long time. It was a real 'wow' moment.

Room Tip: We had the grey room- gorgeous. Very quiet, private, comfortable. The stairs were hard going though...

This place is absolutely gorgeous. It is all that Fez is about. The character, the ambience, the people. We had two separate rooms on two sides of the hotel and they were both full of character and were absolutely beautiful. The staff was extremely accommodating. Our kids were hungry and the dinner wasn't ready yet so the kitchen staff made them some pasta quickly. The musician in the evening was great. The location of this riad is central yet quiet. We loved and have already sent our other friends and families there. They felt the same way we did. They just won the best small hotel in Morocco and they truly deserve that accolade.

We stayed in four different Riads across Marrakech, Fez and Meknes. Laaroussa was the best by far. The hospitality of all the staff and the owners themselves is outstanding. One of the things I liked was a group tip box; individual tipping is not accepted to encourage a collective effort from the staff. And the staff were all great. The common areas are beautifully decorated with fireplaces for the colder times of the year. The terrace is spacious with fantastic views of the old medina. We were lucky enough to stay in two rooms: the brown room and then the blue room. Both were excellent. The brown room is a loft style room. I would probably recommend the brown room if you are travelling on your own since the bathroom and toilet share the same space as the bedroom. You could comfortably stay in the brown room as a couple but he other rooms are probably more suitable for couples and families.

Room Tip: Brown room is more suitable for singles than couples or families although a couple could quite comfo...

I stayed at Riad Laaroussa for 4 nights in late 2013/early 2014 and found the accommodations exquisite and the service first class. Fred and Kathy (owners) and their staff were exceptional in all respects. They left nothing to chance - arranging transportation to/from the riad, assisting with navigating the medina, helping with restaurant recommendations and reservations (Fred even walked us to dinner one night), and offering travel tips for other cities throughout Morocco. The service was attentive, accommodating, warm and friendly - FZ (Fatimazhra) and Kareem made us feel like family. Moreover, the food was remarkable - we looked forward to breakfast every morning on the sunny rooftop terrace which afforded amazing 360 degree views of the medina and surrounding hills), and had two amazing dinners. The riad has undergone a wonderful restoration and the guest suites and public areas are clean and charming. In terms of location, the riad is conveniently located in the heart of the medina, a short walk to everything. I will note that the hammam spa is not to be missed - a truly magical experience that will elevate your body and mind. I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend this riad to friends traveling to Fes.

Room Tip: The Red Room was simply amazing - the bathroom was as large as a NY apartment

We started our two+ week trip to Morocco at Riad Laaroussa and could not have been more pleased. Its location within the medina means an easy walk to everything you want to see in Fez. The stylish combination of traditional Moroccan design with modern touches makes the interior lovely, with aesthetic surprises around every corner. The staff, as virtually every reviewer has said, are friendly, accommodating and efficient. If we had any complaint, it was that information given to one staff member (like: we would like to have dinner here at the riad tonight) does not get transmitted to other staff members. This means guests can be asked the same question repeatedly, leaving the guest anxiously uncertain: Was my request taken care of? But nonetheless, everything worked out fine in the end.

It's well worth noting that the best dinners we had in Fez were at Riad Laaroussa. It's worth ensuring you have a dinner or two there. The breakfasts are to die for! Yum.

Room Tip: We loved the Cream Suite. It was spacious and had a sleeping loft for our son.

Fantastic courtyard.
A delicious room - wide, warm - in terms of atmosphere - and innovative: in the bathroom, a teapot instead of the tube of the sink.... :-)
an intimate dinner in the terrace with marrocan food.
central position close to every iportant thing to visit.
and a special endorsement for the staff: everyone is so warm and open with you!
it was my fisrt time i felt customer focus in every single detail...
bravo!!!!!!

My husband and I were originally booked for the Yellow Room, but were upgraded to the Cream Room Suite. The riad even allowed us to bring our small dog. Service was friendly and attentive. Each night staff would light candles, incense, and start a cozy fire in our suite. The riad's decor was beautiful with stained glass windows and detailed woodwork, Moroccan tiles, an amazing courtyard, and rooftop terrace. The bathroom was our favorite. It featured traditional Moroccan tadeltak (a lime plaster) with a heated towel rack, bath robes, and Moroccan slippers, which are yours to keep! Staff also set up a daily tour guide and restaurant reservations, including pickup service to walk us to/from venue (which is highly recommended, as it is easy to get lost in Fes).

While our stay was wonderful and we expect to return, there are a few negatives. First, breakfast and dinner are served late. Breakfast didn't start until 9am and dinner around 8/8:30pm, making it difficult for people who want to tour early. Also, the stairs are extremely narrow and steep, which will be difficult for older people to maneuver. Since this is the oldest city without cars, parking is also an issue and difficult to find. However, the riad provides a delivery service (a man with a push cart for luggage) that will meet you at the parking lot and walk to/from venue.
