“Another Hidden Gem in Fez”
Reviewed 16 June 2013

Hidden in a dusty alleyway like so many of Fez's marvels, you enter the building through a drab alleyway right on the border of the old city (more convenient than lodging in the middle of the city where taxis can't reach). Once you get inside, however, this riad is absolutely gorgeous in every respect, with opulent rooms and amazing restored decorations. Plus, their kitchen serves the best food we had on our entire trip in Morocco. However, even this is not the best part. The principal guest relations staff during our visit, Mohamed and Khadija, were not only completely fluent in English, but wonderfully kind, attentive, and proactive hosts. Staying here, we truly felt like honored guests in a palace. Thank you, Khadija and Mohamed!

This was one of the highlights of our trip and certainly by far the best Riad we stayed at, and we stayed at quite a number. The architecture was beautiful and the decor and some of the furnishings were exquisite. The staff were warm, friendly and extremely helpful. The food excellent.

Riad is absolutely beautiful and food was good if not outstanding. Service was spotty with a lot of "management" and not enough "workers". Owner was a bit overbearing and was very unkind to our guide -- we couldn't figure out why as our guide was wonderful and not the least bit difficult. A bit more care on service would make this Riad outstanding!!

Dear Guest

We of course thank you for your much appreciated feedback and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. I really enjoyed meeting you and having here at the riad. You are most definitely welcomeback at anytime.

I think there needs to be some clarity on the some of the events that you mentioned in your review.

We, do not dispute that your guide was kind and friendly to you, as that is his job, and its in his interest and favour to make you as happy as possible.
The guide, however was not so friendly to the owner of our riad, when he had met him inside the Medina. This disagreement, had in no way anything to do with your stay or you i can assure you. Considering the owners is old enough to be the guides father, i would assume he would exercise a little bit of respect and courtesy, things that he did not do. He in fact, told the owner when he had said hello to you and your friends, that he should not speak to you because he is wasting your time, its a simple courtesy to greet people and the owner is a friendly man. I do not see how that would be a problem that your guide blew out of proportion. In your exchange with the riad owner, im sure that you would have picked up if he was unkind or overbearing. Which as an employee i can guarantee he is not.

The riad, im afraid is unlike a hotel, we are a small work unit that helps each other out and it doesnt mean that our management is not willing to get their hands dirty. The workers which i can assure out number the management, are the people you do not see, that get everything ready and cleaned, and its the people who are able to communicate with you that you meet regularly, in terms of english, that would be out management team. As you might know the second language in Morocco is french, and i cannot stress enough that the reason why you only met members of our management team, is that they are able to speak fluent conversational english.

Thank you once again......

Our group arrived in Fes last April 16th and was whisked to this beautiful riad. At first, we were kind of worried when our driver Anzani parked the Grand Starex van in an area not typical for a hotel. The outside area going to the rias was dusty and the building around the area were non-assuming, plain mud like structures common throughout Morocco. But as soon as the Riad Yacout's doors opened, we were greeted with a very beauftiful sight. Beautiful intricate mosaics and Moroccan furnishings decored the place. The courtyard has a flowing fountain and the lounge seats were fantastic. The Riad manager Criselda, a gorgeous black South African greeted our group and offered welcome refreshments. Very accomodating staff. The rooms were fantastic on the beddings and interiors and are very spacious. You cant help but adore the intricate decorations all over the Riad. The feel was just palacious! This was a start contrast to the surroundings outside of the Riad. It's just a delight to shoot pictures in and around the riad and be amazed on its decors. A truly unique and pamperous experience. The daughter of the owner of the Riad name Hasminda, also welcomed us. I would highly recommend this riad for your stay in Fez.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms on the upper floors.

The decoration and facilities of the hotels were fascinating...and dinner there was full of taste of Morocco. Situated in the Medina, mysterious and cultural.

You will definitely need a guide to find the hotel, and to take you out from there :)

Just LOVED the place. We had the most beautiful room on the second floor. It didn't look like a room, more like staying in Aladdin's palace. It was our best hotel stay in Morocco! Breakfast was great, and they added salads based on our request. It was just so pleasant to come back from our daily tours to this beautiful place that you love to call home for a few days, and just hate to leave. The staff was very nice too. All together just a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Our room on the second floor was just fantastic.

Dear Guest

I always do think of the Fez Medina, like it is the little place that Aladdin and his friends had their adventures, so i truly appreciate the comparison :)

We are glad that you had a lovely stay with here at the Riad, and of course it was a great pleasure to have you. Please do feel free to come bak anytime... You are more thank welcome.
