We visited Fes during the holiday of Eid so things were a bit slow in the Medina. Our stay at Riad La Cle de Fes made all the difference. The staff was welcoming and helpful while the riad itself was a wonderful bit of old Fes. The renovations preserved the ancient craft of the artisans while adding comfortable amenities for the modern traveler. We would return to Fes just to stay in this amazing riad.

We just loved it, from the moment we walked in, to the day we had to close the door behind us...An impressive property and a perfect location, just a few minutes walk from the main door of the medina, restaurants, souks and little red taxis! The rooms are magnificent and big with open windows on the courtyard, the bathrooms are in proportion to the rooms (just like a small flat in Paris!!) and Amal will be happy to tell you all about the natural soap to our disposition... A good familly "ambiance" with a discret and very efficient service, it felt just like we were with friends!!
Thanks again to you all, and for the tours you organized for us and for our fantastic little guide you recommended to us, we had a great time and hope to see you again!!! Delphine and Arnaud with love

A beautifully restored Riad in the heart of the medina. The spacious bedrooms look down over the tiled courtyard. It has a fantastic roof terrace with 360 degree views where we spent many evening and even one sunrise! the staff were incredibly nice and helpful and really made our stay so pleasurable. I would defintely recommend it and if i were visiting fes again i would definitely stay here.

The riad is very nice and has a beautiful terrace overlooking the medina. The room where we stayed was very big but lacking of privacy, big windows and small curtains.
However the staff did not make us feel welcome. We stayed in other riads in Morocco so we experienced a warm hospitality while here we did not feel it. We spoke very little french and this seemed to be an issue, the manager was way more friendly with the other french guests, and the girl at the reception did not speak english at all. In the end after telling us on the first day to ask in case we needed anything they made us pay for the bottle of water that I asked one day. (It was 45 degrees outside and ramadam so impossible to find drinks outside, and the water in the riad is not drinkable). In other riads we always had a new bottle of water in the room every fay for free. It's not a big deal but makes the difference when comparing this riad to other places. I guess there are better riads to stay in Fes.

Hi Amy thank you for your message and comments.
My two managers Meriam morning and the afternoon Amal speak English fluently. We have many English travelers or Americans that the French and the staff is prepared to make you a great holiday. We respect the privacy and tranquility of every traveler.
On water riad. It is safe and you can drink it after if you choose to drink bottled water we offer you in your room a bottle of water I day of your arrival and during your meal but after your drinks are not free. The price of a liter and a half of water is 16.5 riad dhr. In grocery stores in the medina you find a 10 dhr.
I'm really sorry you're disappointed with your stay at Riad point of advising another riad. If you return to Fez I would be delighted to welcome you personally and make a very nice gesture of goodwill.

A beautiful place, with beautiful people. I was pregnant when we stayed here last May(2011) and sensitive to everything. Everything was perfect and if we go back to Fes we will stay here again.

If you're going to Fes to experience the Medina, then staying in a Riad in the heart of the Medina is a must. This was my first trip to Fes (and the first for a Riad stay), but I could not imagine a place more splendid!
We felt like royalty in a divine palace. Every morning was breath-taking... breakfasts out by the small pool with the live turtle "Linda" sunning herself. The fresh juice, dates and singing birds.
The evenings we ate dinner at the Riad which I HIGHLY recommend as this was the best food we found in all of Fes (and I'm a chef).
I had the opportunity to watch the wonderful and gracious cook of the Riad in action, while the hotel manager translated for me. This was a huge plus and I'm very grateful.
We met the owner.. a French women who was very kind and welcoming.
I really cannot offer enough positive out-pouring about the place. I hope you stay there and enjoy it as much as we did!
PS.. I highly recommend hiring a guide for at least a 1/2 half day in the medina. the Riad recommended someone wonderful. This helped us to understand the culture and richness of the area much more fully.
PSS.. if you are going as a couple note that the riad is not not extremely private. The noise moves through the place very easily... which is also totally part of its charm :)
