When we arrived at the hotel we were pleasently surprised. The room was small but tastefully decorated and clean. For £30 a night including breakfast it was good value. However the pleasentness of our stay was bitterly overshadowed on our last day when at the end of our SELF SERVICE breakfast we were harrassed for a tip. I refused saying that the breakfast was self service and that a tip was only necessary for a service provided. After check out my girlfriend and i were walking to the train station and I jokingly said "I bet they'll follow us for a tip" however to my surprise when I turned around a waiter was behind us saying that we'd "forgot to tip". I was disgusted by this and of course told him where to go. But then again this type of behaviour is rife in morocco.

OK, for the price (around 36 EUR). You can't get by feet to the Medina, but you are quite nearby the centre of the new city, with restaurants, cafés, shops etc. The rooms are small, but if you spend just the night at the hotel, it doesn’t matter. From the restaurant on the top floor you have a nice view of the new city. Breakfast was ok.

We arrived into Fez after 8pm, after a long day on the road and without a hotel booking. We noticed the neon sign for the Zahrat al Jabal and went to check it out. The hotel seemed pretty busy but did have double rooms available for 57 Euros per room per night including breakfast.

The hotel is located in the new town area of Fez and feels safe and secure. We had hoped to stay in one of the more traditional riad style hotels in old town Fez but having a car made this impractical. At Zahrat al Jabal you can park the car on the road outside.

The room in the hotel was fine, very clean, with a very large double bed, ensuite bathroom with a shower, balcony, and TV. Good value for money.

We ate in the restaurant on our first evening, the service was very quick and the food was ok. Unlike some hotel in hotels in Morocco this hotel was dry and doesn't serve any alcohol.

The breakfast served in the hotel was also fine, a buffet style continental breakfast.

The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. However, we were slightly annoyed to discover that we had paid for the first nights' accommodation in cash after being told the hotel didn't accept visa cards, to then discover when extending our stay for an additional night that the hotel does accept visa cards.

We also had a waiter knocking on our door at 11pm to tell us they had forgotten to add 5 Euros to our dinner bill, which is something we thought could have waited until the morning.

In summary, this was a good, very reasonably priced hotel which provided us with a great base from which to explore the historic city of Fez (however, the old town Fez and Medina is about a 5 minute drive away by car.)

Well me and my girlfrined went to Morocco in October. Our plane landed in Casablanca and we went to Fez by train. On the country side we saw a lot of poverty so the fact that we paid 30€ for 2 persons with breakfest included we didn't know what to get. We came at 22:00 in Fez and we were quite happy to get room 601 which was just under the top. As you can see from the pictures the room had a balcony and air condtion and small bat which is the only drawbacks from this hotel. I couldn't take a shower in this small bath so i had to do it standing.

But if you put this a side it was very good. The cleaning service was great they changed the sheets every day and the breakfast was ok.
If we would come to hotel by the street we would pay 45€ for night plus 4€ for breakfast per person which is a lot more then we paid :)
If you just think that for 30€ you can hardly get hostel for 2 persons in dorms...

So we were very happy for what we paid and if we return to Morocco and Fez we will defenitly stay in Zahrat al Jabal

This hotel is situated in the new part of Fes, near the lovely boulevard, wonderful cafes and shops and within easy reach of the medina of Fes (5 minutes by car)
The hotel is quite new and the rooms are adequately sized. The bathrooms are very small and uncomfortable. The hotel also has a very nice street cafe and the food is very nice, serving marroccan food.. The price is excellent and I can recommend this hotel. Carefull when changing money at the reception desk! The man tried to cheat me with an unacceptable exchange rate and only after questioning him, he gave the standard exchange rate. He is definately a crook!
Other than this minor problem, the hotel is excellent

The hotel was wonderful and very lively.I would recommend people who want to stay in average hotels to stay in this hotel. Its room was small but cosy and the weather was suitable for guests to accomodate.Although it is winter, they had large and thick blankets.Pillows were wonderful to help in the good night's sleep. The restaurant was quite small but okay only that the local food offered was not that nice.I would advise tourist to pay half board. The lobby was well -decorated.Overall,the hotel was small and lively but offers guests a comfortable sleep and stay. The televisions were new(LG),toilet in rooms were small only that it had bad lighting.Service was quite good, the front desk was polite.
