“relaxing vibes to get energy for medina”

When you do your expeditions through the rushing medina its a need to find an affordable place to calme down! this pension situated right in the beginning center of the medinas entrance, the blue gate, was for me a great experience. The possibility to sleep for 150dh on the roof terrace in a simple room with a shower was just the things i needed. Ur not out of the medina movement but can overlook it from over the top. Everyone, who is looking for an affordable place to calm down in the rush of the medina is here at right habitat including very sympatic personal!

This Hostel that we booked with continental breakfast and air-condition, did not include either. When we told them about it, they said that we could get breakfast (but this was just some day old dry bred with honey and some tea/coffee. Our roomdoor did not lock very well, as you sometimes could open the door even though it was locked. We also walked by one of the other rooms which was with a bathroom in the room - as in a bathroom with see through doors made out of plastic.

Room:
dirty and no linnens, stuffed with things, no place to move around or put luggage (like a closet or under the bed). No fan or AC (as promised in their description). A lot of noise from the street during the night, I didn't sleep at all while I was there. Beds - hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. No wifi working more than 3 min.

Shared Bathroom:
small, dirty whole in the wall with plumbing problems. Dirty water and weird creatures climbing out of the drain when showering, lowest water pressure imaginable, no toiletpaper, soap or towels provided.
If you're "lucky" you have a private bathroom in the room: this is a transparent plastic wall, inwhich you can use the toilet or take a shower (while you family/friends/roommates enjoy the view of you doing so). The steam from the shower and smells from the toilet will go straight to the room (there's no roof on the little transparent plastic box).

Breakfast:
Not included in price as promised. Bring dirham cash as they don't take any cards nor foreign currency. Very dry mini bread with honey in the side. Sugartea (somewhat warm), strong mini-coffee and no milk.

Location:
Not as showed on the map, you have to walk a bit from the mainstreet through narrow streets. Not long, but too long at night, when guys hang around in the streets smoking and yelling at you. Women are advised to cover themselves to the max and bring a dude.

Room Tip: Run - as fast as you can

This place gave my girlfriend and I our worst experience in Morocco. The guy running the place convinced my girlfriend and I to book a medina tour through him for 250 Dirhams; we thought this was too much but he assured us this was the normal price for an "Official Government Tour Guide". He had a sign up in the lobby encouraging guests to book tours through him as there is a lot of scam artist tour guides around. But the tour guide they got us was a total con artist. He did not take us to any of the main tourist spots, and dumped us in the middle of the Medina quite lost, and we had to try and find our own way back to the hotel. When we got back we told the staff, they called the man to tell him to give us some of our money back. They confessed that they had lied to us as they had no idea who was a real official tour guide and who wasn't. The man showed up and shouted at us for 20 minutes before we decided to leave. We did not get our money back. Also, the cleaning staff harassed us for tips. Big scam. Very unpleasant experience. Don't stay here.

Staff were friendly but the hotel is not clean. We had to ask the staff to clean our bathroom (the toilet seat was filthy) and the sheets were dirty. I wouldn't stay here again. There are other better options in fez.

Let me start with the good parts: the location is pretty central, the staff is friendly, the rooftop terrace is a great setting for brealfast, and I met some nice fellow travellers in the common areas.

Bad bits: room that can't be locked from inside, shared bathroom that can't be reliably locked from inside, warm water only working on the third floor, not on the second, shared bathrooms so small that you drench the toilet when you shower (no curtain), staff that doesn't know who paid and who didn't, and then asks guests who already paid to pay again, staff that came into my (unloclable) room to show it to new guests, unaware that I was in there (thankfully not naked at the time...), and probably some things I forgot.

My wife and I stayed overnight in this Pension in the medina in Fez, Morocco. Alas, we had the worst experience for years. Our sheets were soiled and smelt dreadfully. We called the manager when a half-eaten sandwich appeared between the sheets. There was mucus on the pillow-slips and peanuts beneath one of the pillows. The young manager agreed with our perceptions and I took photographs to confirm our findings. The owner telephoned to apologise and offer a full refund. Sadly, I feel I have to share these experiences with other travellers and urge them to avoid this place at all costs.

Room Tip: Avoid this Pension for the sake of your health.
