My boyfriend and I stayed at Riad Tizwa for 3 nights and I would urge anyone looking to stay in Fes to contact Daniel or Richard and stay here. The riad itself is stunning a large peaceful central courtyard leads off to the nine hidden rooms, found on hidden staircases that seem to perfectly encapsulate the winding medina of Fes. Each room is so beautiful in its own unique way. Winding your way to the top of the riad the terrace has fantastic views of the medina that you can enjoy whilst eating the greatest breakfast of fruits and yoghurt you will find in Africa. To top it all off the staff of Samir and Miriam were wonderful, and at the slight mention of my love for melon Samir made sure it was an edition at the next days breakfast.

The location is perfect, the riad is divine, and the personal level of care given from the owners and the team at the riad cannot be beaten. In a word, it was fantastic.

We spent 3 nights here and had a great time. The staff is very attentive, Merrieme, the hotel manager, spoke English and arranged a guide for us which worked out well. Breakfast was served promptly and was delicious! The rooms were large and beautiful. We stayed in room 2 which overlooked the courtyard and had beautiful stained glass windows. Yes there were some more un-Moroccan furniture and decorations but that did not really bother us that much. I could see how some would be annoyed at the bathroom set-up. Ours had a little shower area but I saw that other rooms, the shower was not really separate from the toilet so it would get everything wet. From our experience though, everything was wonderful and I would highly recommend Riad Tizwa Fez.

Ok, we can't lie... This Riad Tizwa is a little hard to find as when we went, there was no proper signage. SO... if you're going to book to stay there - and u should cause it is a beautifully restored riad - make sure to organise with the staff to meet you or to send a cab for you. Once you're there and get your bearings sorted, you'll find it hard to leave. You can while away many hours sitting in the sunny courtyard sipping mint tea and nibbling sugared nuts, flipping through the latest editions of Wallpaper* - small but really nice touches. The rooms are all beautifully designed. Rooms 1 and 2 are extremely spacious, room 1 even comes with a separate dressing room and bathroom. The four poster beds are as comfy as they are sexy, and once again Tizwa's friendly and helpful staff will help you organise everything you need done. Just give them some notice and they'll sort it out. Don't forget to spend some time on the roof, settle down at sunset with a drink and soak in the full atmosphere of Fez!

This is a superbly decorated moroccan residence which can best be described as a small palace. The perfect place for a romantic getaway. The rooms are amazing, beautifully decorated and each is unique. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Booking isn't easy as its through email but the extra effort really is worthwhile.

I had high expectations for this Riad having read so many positive comments. Most of them were met.

Location is fantastic, a stone's throw from the souks, and right next to a central area (Batha) where taxis can pick/drop you. As with all riads, the expensive limo service was worth it to ensure we found the place with minimal hassle.

We weren't happy with the original ground floor room we booked, as we realized it fronted onto the courtyard (no privacy at all), and there was a sewage smell coming from the bathroom. Fair warning to those choosing a room. Kudos to the staff who promptly arranged a move to the best room in the house (room 1).

The bedroom, although huge, was too dimly lit at night, and the bed was too soft on one side. The bathrooms (yes plural) were a short climb up stairs, so definitely not a good choice for older travellers or young kids. Plenty of space as well, with a dedicated dressing room and lots of hanging room for clothes. Not very keen on the old-style shower, which wasn't luxurius enough, and designed to wet the entire bathroom (no seperate cubicle/tub/curtain).

We were disappointed that we had to skip having dinner in the riad as it was too expensive (350 Dhs per pax), not extortionate, but poor value given what good meals we had outside for far less. Perhaps something the management needs to look into.

Apart from the rough edges mentioned above, we loved our stay here. The most peaceful sleep we've ever had (it is an extremely quiet riad by design), a charming building (great terrace), excellent breakfasts, and an extremely attentive staff (both Merieme and Samir were terrific). Like a previous reviewer, we were surprised at the bottle of water being charged (even though the room brochure clearly states that we get a complimentary bottle at the start of the stay).

Overall, it's hard not to recommend Riad Tizwa. If you're looking for a charming, homely property, warm service, and extremely peaceful nights, you've found it in Tizwa. As long as you don't expect polished, 6-star hotel amenities (although the dreamy bathrobes are of that standard), you'll not be disappointed.

Ok. This is the best breakfast at any hotel on any continent. A lovely treat.
The riad is relaxed. The staff is very helpful and friendly. All the rooms are different. We stayed in 3 different during our stay -- so be sure the room you choose is right for your needs. They are all tastefully decorated. Modern with nods to Moroccan style. Quite refreshing and not over the top. Internet is slow. It is Morocco after all but decent. Not the best view in town, but one of the best locations. Easy to enter the Medina as you want, but you will never be trapped and unable to find your way to the riad. All in all I would highly recomment.
