I stayed here a year ago and kept meaning to write. Yes agree, smaller than pictures, but beautiful. English is limited but that didn't stop communication and a desire to help. Our wifi was perfect. Pool small. A little far ie not a riad in main medina. We ate a cous cous here one evening and it was without a doubt the best meal of our break. I loved it here.

We have been staying in the Villa for the past 5 nights and have to say it is a wonderful place to stay. All of the images on here do it justice however it is smaller than I had imagined but this is not to it's detriment.

We were a little lost on our first morning when it came to breakfast as there was no welcome pack advising what the procedure was, however the ladies soon gestured us to a table. Not long after our magic basket arrived, every evening the ladies bake cakes and doughnuts fresh for breakfast. Beware if you are on an Atkins diet this is not a breakfast for you.

We had an issue with room not being cleaned, bins, loo rolls etc for three days and because of our inability to speak fluent French found I had to email the owners who I believe we're away. I have to say again the response was prompt and very good, with a bottle of wine in way of an apology.

It would have made it so much easier for us if a welcome pack in English was available and this is the only area I could find to say please look in to, as you are advertising in the Uk it seems only right, on top of this we are going to be taking evening classes in French.

The Villa are happy to arrange taxis for you and use a local character called Hassan, he was meant to collect us from the airport but didn't! However it was simple enough and at the airport ask them to take you to the Tropicana as no taxis know Villa Amira and it is around 200 mtrs past the tropicana. The airport run should cost around 100 drm during the day and even if Hassan is booked negotiate before you get in.

During the day exit the Villa and turn right for a couple of shops including a bakery and small outlet to but drinks. Further around there is a cash machine that accepts visa cards and a good pharmacy that supplies Imodium cheaper than in the UK (all three of us needed it). You can get taxis on this road to take you to the main square and never pay more than 20 drm during the day and 30 in the evening, there are more taxis than you can imagine, avoid the old Mercedes as they feel they can charge more.

We would recommend Pepe Nero by taxi with Hassan 100. drm return and pay on return journey, wonderful restaurant and you can email reservation request (ask for fountain side table). We had a trip to Atlas mountains arranged through Hassan via Villa Amira (700 drm) for the three of us again pay at end. When you arrive a guide will jump in to your taxi and say he doesn't want any money yet and pay at end what you think he is worth! Rest assured they expect 100 per person going up. Once up the mountain they will encourage you to have drinks and he will pay whilst you rest, the charge up the mountain is 50 drm per drink, this for three drinks would buy you ten locally. When you get lower down the cost is 20 drm! Just be ware that the guide will tell you all sorts to encourage you later to pay him more for his services. That said it is a wonderful thing to do but wear trainers! We did it in sandals and this was a big mistake.

The whole time we were in Marrakech not at any point did we feel threatened or unsafe and at night the whole city comes alive and trust me when I say you have seen nothing until you have seen the traffic here! Mopeds, bicycles and vehicles oh and don't forget the horses and donkeys all in the road together, the taxi drivers say accidents are rare although I find this hard to believe.

So in summing up the Villa Amira is a wonderful tranquil retreat just far enough away from the madness of central Marrakech.

Having read most of the reviews I was not surprised to find the Riad to be a beautiful, well kept, tidy and clean place to stay. I visited recently with my daughter and found Villa Amira met with all our expectations. The staff were wonderful, very helpful and efficient. We had breakfast each morning which was beautifully presented, midday snacks and one evening meal which was exceptional in quality. All in all we were extremely happy with our choice of accomodation.
To commute to the Medina will definately involve hiring a taxi as it is too far to walk.

Room Tip: Being such a small hotel/riad all rooms seem to be of high quality judging from comments from other...

Following 4 days at the Widiane in the mountains it was time for some fun.
Villa Amira is a little oasis, comfy & so very friendly. Near to everything you need. Has great facilities given it's only really for a short break.
The ladies (can't remember their names) are on hand day & night, nothing is too much trouble. They invite you be completely at home!

We visited Villa Amira with a group of close friends for a short break. We chose it solely based on the fact that it was affordable and had a decent pool to cool off in after the heat of the Medina. After all its only really a place to get your head down on such a short break.

We had no idea how amazing it was going to be. The place is beautiful, decorated in traditional Moroccan style and we were greeted with the most amazing mint tea after a our long journey. Paola and Aurore are brilliant, and so accommodating. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The rooms again were beautiful and very large, all of ours had balconies which was a huge bonus.

The roof terrace is a great sun spot early morning and late afternoon but gets a little too hot in the mid day sun. The lower garden is like an oasis and provides a good mixture of sun and shade, and has the pool which is lovely. One thing to bear in mind is that as it is quite limited for space so there are only a few sun loungers, and it seems fair to take it in turns with other guests if the Villa is full. A must whilst you are there is to try the home made Tagine and Moroccan salads. They do take an hour to prepare but were worth the wait and one of the best meals we had in Marrakech. Also if you go out exploring use the Villas recommended taxi driver Hassan, he was worth his wait in gold for tips on where to go, what to do and where to dine. Our visit wouldn't have been the same without his knowledge. Gueliz where a lot of great bars and restaurants are is a good 10 minute walk from the Villa, which is absolutely fine, although I'd wait for the sun to go down before venturing out, especially if you want to arrive at dinner fresh faced. The Medina is a taxi ride away and cost about 100 dirhams but if you use Hassan he will tell and show you everything.

The only very slight negatives we had was that there isn't really much information given on arrival, and this could be because of our limited french, but ask any question and its answered instantly. The Villa also said it had WiFi but although it connected it was too slow to do anything. This isn't such a bad thing as we wanted a break from our hectic lives, but it would be handy to get info on restaurants etc. Having said that, every restaurant we visited had free WiFi so it was easy to plan the following day over dinner that night.

We absolutely loved our time in Marrakech and at Villa Amira and will definitely be back.

Initially I was put off this place by the distance from the Medina (not really walkable in the heat to the Souks). However on arrival I was pleasantly suprised. Lovely, spacious, cool rooms. I sizeable pool, roof terrace and wonderfully furnished. Service is also excellent, as is breakfast. For the money you can't really go wrong.
