Description: Set in an ancient alleyway dating in Marrakechs Jewish quarter, Palais Gharnata restaurant possesses a rarefied luxury that comes only with the passing of time. Everything here speaks of grand antiquity, of North African exoticism and beauty. Handcarved cedar woodwork, ornate sculpture and carvings, handsome waiters dressed in loose white cotton, trays elegantly poised above their right shoulder its a magical world. A formal dining space, Palais Gharnat specialises is Morroccan cuisine. Begin perhaps, with a pastilla of tender pigeon and crushed almonds in a soft aromatic dough, as a bottle of fine local vintage is opened, and the aroma of spiced lamb curls up inside your nose. The best tables are on the mezzanine, overlooking the set-piece central fountain.

“Amazingly unique”
Reviewed 24 December 2012

i have been to this place dozens of times, never disappointed...to the extent where i decided to get married there last September. It was absolutely magical, unique, and our senses were experiencing the "mille et une nuits". The Food is excellent, service at the top and the manager is always there to ensure you are served professionally.

I would recommend this place to anyone willing to enjoy the true Moroccan experience.

“All the essence of Morocco in one restaurant”
Reviewed 26 November 2012

Every visit to Marrakech should include a visit to Palais Gharnata... The essence of Morocco is present in every corner of this wonderful restaurant and its sorroundings. The entrance already gives you and idea of the amazing evening the guests will enjoy of. Attention has been given to the smallest details of decoration creating an incredible Moroccan atmosphere that will capture your attention until the end of the soirée. The treatment of the waiters was impeccable and the food served was abundant and nicely served. I was fortunate enought to go to Palais Gharnata for a wedding in September and the experience was unforgettable. The food was served while a group of traditional music was playing and the waiters went in circles to show the trays before taking them to the tables. Belly dancers also will add to your experience in Palais Gharnata a touch of Moroccan culture before having the desserts...
Strongly recommended restaurant to spend an extraordinary moment while tasting delicious food in the town of roses.

“Exotic food in an exotic setting!”
Reviewed 4 November 2012 via mobile

The food is a bit of a twist on what I'm used to! Anyways the place us exotic and exciting! Someone serenades you while you dine in this huge high ceiling restaurant which according to my tour guide is an old palace. Quite dizzying to get to the place after a series on turns in narrow alleys! You should need a GPS to guide you to the place. I'll give it 3 stars for the ambience food and service! Probably you have to be a local to appreciate the cuisine served here!

“Be careful”
Reviewed 30 December 2010

While the menu was supposed to be all inclusive the aperitifs were charged to our bill at extortionate prices and the waiter got quite aggressive when we questioned the bill. A glass of Kir (white wine & cassis - heavy on the cassis and cheap sweet wine) cost over £20. Despite accepting card they also tried to demand the bill be settled in cash
