“Nice food - terrible service and hygiene”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

Decided to try out one of the food stalls and was pleasantly surprised at first with the nice tasting food at a reasonable price.
However it was only afterwards that the regret hit when the food caused stomach problems, which in hindsight is no big surprise given that the meat was on display with no protection all day in the hot weather. Perhaps being just unlucky, try this place at your own risk.
One thing to note is to check your bill at the end because the server will round up your bill to the nearest hundred and still have the cheek to ask for an additional tip.

“Great place to eat!”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

After being ripped off by an 'a la carte' restaurant on my first night, I decided to take the plunge and try the market food. I was so impressed by Chez Aicha that I ended up going again for my next night in Marrakech!

You might be apprehensive about the hygiene but it was fantastic here and I was never worried by the food, for £4-5, it was a bargain. It's true that a lot of people try to sell their goods to you if you're sat near the edges but a firm 'I'm good thanks' and they are soon on their way... after all it's a game of averages and there are so many other people for them to speak to!

The staff were great and having a menu in english was reassuring. I had the same guy on both nights and they always make sure you are ok.

If you want to try authentic market food, then Chez Aicha is the place and it's easy to find... they literally are No. 1!

“This is what happends on your first night in town”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

Number one restaurant on the Djeemaa El Fna square is too expensive and not very good. It 's the kind of place you eat on your first night, when everything is new and overwhelming. There are good places to eat on the square. And number one is not one of them. A good foodstall needs no waiters who talk the guests into their restaurant, pick the restaurants that are full with Moroccans. Or where people are queing to get a seat.

“Great Experience”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

Eating at the food stalls in Jemaa el Fna was my favorite experience in Marrakech. It is a must if you are visiting the city. After reading multiple reviews, we decided on Aicha's stall. The food was tasty and very cheap. Two entrees, waters, bread, and appetizers came to about $12. We had vegetarian tagine and cous cous, so I can't comment on the meat. The service was good but hectic. The real fun is people watching and being part of the square at night. Locals and tourists come together, and it is a loud and crazy atmosphere.

I highly recommend stopping at one of the cinnamon tea stalls after your dinner at Aicha's. It is a wonderful way to end the night.

“Good Value Classical Moroccan Food”
Reviewed 26 January 2014

I loved this eaterie. We ate there 4 nights in a row, each night we were stuffed with all the food we tried, and each night £10-15 FOR TWO.

The food is fresh, and cooked on a BBQ. The atmosphere bustling and friendly. Bench seats so random people eating with you, always friendly, especially the locals.

The only real downside is the lack of beer! Just not available on the square... But the orange juice is perfect, best I have ever tasted.

I do not understand some of the poor reviews. You eat on the square to enjoy a Marrakesh evening meal, typical for the area.

If you want western food and fine wine then pop along to the nearby Mamounia Hotel.

Around is all sorts of entertainment, free unless you take photos etc, including snake charmers, music and dancing, monkeys etc. Deserts (moroccan sweetbreads are available from chez Aisha or from passing stallholder barrows: lots of honey and nuts.

The stallholders do push you to eat with them, but not horribly so, and we often got asked to sit down at another stall having just got up from eating. Unlike some pushy foodsellers elsewhere in the world, however, you are not ignored when you have sat down. They are prompt attentive and the food arrives fast and freshly cooked.

Try it! It's what you have gone to Marrakech for!
