My friend and I stayed at Riad Assakina over Christmas this year. We were blown away with this gem of a place amongst the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. Michele and Grant have done a fantastic job with the interiors and it is an oasis.
The staff are helpful and friendly and always smiling.
I would recommend this to anyone who appreciate good things in life.

After lots of searching and reading of reviews, Riad Assakina in the Medina was my home with my adult children for 4 days. The Riad is beautifully & meticulously decorated, very comfortable with an extremely hospitable staff. Michelle (along with her husband Grant, who was back in the UK) have worked very hard to make this a most memorable experience from the relaxing rooftop solarium to the bedrooms, salon & delicious breakfasts served each morning. Whatever questions we had, reservations required, or recommendations needed, Michelle & staff were spot on. As it was Xmas while we were there, we were each presented with a lovely gift on Xmas day...a very sweet addition to what was already a delightful experience. Hopefully I'll be able to return and do it all again someday soon!

Room Tip: There are only 7 rooms...each one as lovely as the next.

I chose to stay at Riad Assakina because of the excellent trip advisor reviews. Having just come back from a 3 night stay with my boyfriend I can honestly say it far exceeded our expectations. Even before we arrived Grant was very helpful over email on suggesting places we could visit outside of Marrakech. As soon as we stepped into the Riad, Michele and her team were on hand to help at any time. Michele helped organise a day trip to the Atlas Mountains (which we would thoroughly recommend) and advised us what price we should be paying for goods at trade stands. She also recommended a great place to have Henna tattoos for a fixed price! We were upgraded to a suite and the room was beautifully decorated and cleaned everyday. The roof terrace is stunning and we had our afternoon tea there everyday. The Riad is perfectly situated in the old Jewish quarter which is a little quieter but still only a 10 minute walk from the main square. When Grant and Michele say that the Riad is "your home in Marrakech" they really do mean it!! If I ever have the opportunity to return to Marrakech again I will not think twice about where i'll stay!

This riad is just beautiful! It is really excellence plus! The rooms and the common areas are all beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. There is a real feeling of tranquility and calm (which is fantastic after a day in Marrakech). We had booked the Berber Room and spent our first night there. It was a really charming room. Grant and Michelle very generously upgraded us to the Almohad Suite for the other two nights we spent at the riad. This suite was really lovely. It is hard to describe how beautiful the riad is but the fact that Michelle is an interior designer really shows.

The location of the riad is excellent, being close by the Bahia Palace and within easy walking distance to all of the major attractions.

Grant and Michelle are fantastic hosts and went out of their way to assist us to have a really enjoyable stay. This commenced with my correspondence to them prior to booking - they answered all of my emails promptly and were very helpful. We drove to Marrackech (something we wouldn't do again - but we survived!) and our GPS had trouble finding the riad. After phoning the riad, Grant came and got us and directed us to the riad and the parking.

Once we arrived at the riad, the welcome we received was excellent. Michelle provided us with lots of information, including maps of the area. One of these maps showed recommended places to shop in the medina and highlighted how to get there. During our entire stay Grant and Michelle were very helpful giving us tips for lots of things, including restaurants. We also really appreciated Michelle's tips on how much to pay for various things.

Marrakech was our favourite city in Morocco and Riad Assakina was definitely the most beautiful place we stayed at whilst in Morocco.

Following a tour of Morocco in October, my husband and I splurged on a five night stay at a riad as part of a 30th anniversary getaway. I was thrilled that a suite at Riad Assakina was actually available when making plans a few months ago. I had fallen in love with this place online for about two years and we were not disappointed. The place is even more beautiful than the pictures thanks to Michelle's touch... and Grant's witty charm added to the whole experience. Impeccable service from the hosts and all the staff. We looked forward to the fabulous breakfast served in the beautiful courtyard every morning. Information was generously dispensed on anything needed. I even found an antique fibula (berber brooch) at a fair price. Thanks Michelle! And thanks so much, Hisham, for taking care of us in the evenings when we returned from the madness of Marrakesh. Loved this city...loved this riad!

We went to Riad Assakina as a group of 6 - (3 couples) to celebrate my 40th b'day. It was my first time to Marrakech. They organised our transfer from the airport to the Riad which went very smoothly and is only 15 mins away from the airport. It's in a perfect location and you can walk everywhere really easily. We rang the bell and went into the Riad where we were met by Grant & Michelle. They were so hospitable and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The Riad itself is extremely tastefully decorated and bearing in mind the chaos and hustle and bustle of the streets outside - once inside the Riad you are filled with a feeling of peace and tranquility. We had the best time and will defo be back as sooon as possible.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely but we stayed in the Kaid suite which was gorgeous.

I can do nothing but echo the fantastic reviews by others of Riad Assakina.

As an experienced traveler to Marrakech over the past six years, I can say that Grant and Michelle have created a wonderful Riad experience and I will be back.

From the first contact prior to booking, their personal touch and commitment is evident. The attention to detail by the owners and their staff strikes a fantastic balance of privacy and service. We arrived with our kids, for three nights, and they made sure we had just the right combination of rooms to suit our needs - in order to maximize the enjoyment of our stay. They touched base at the right times, while we were there, to make sure we had directions, restaurant reservations/recommendations, afternoon tea/beer, shopping advice, transfers.....

Riad Assakina is in a fantastic location, in easy walking distance to everything in the Medina and on the doorstep of a number of sites you will surely explore. We walked everywhere and felt safe the entire time.

The design of the space in the Riad is crisp with great attention to detail throughout. Rooms are generously sized and the terrace offers great lounging space, fantastic rooftop views and sunsets while you put your feet up.

If you're looking for the genuine Medina experience but with the comforts and service of a beautiful, new boutique hotel - look no further than the experience Grant and Michelle have created at Riad Assakina.
