“Outstanding home away from home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2012

My husband and I were lucky enough to stay in this beautiful Riad for 5 nights in March. After three days on the move, walking into Riad Assakina was like walking into a haven. Naoual and Hicham looked after our every needs (Michelle was away for a few days). Nothing was too much trouble for them.
Michelle returned three days into our stay, and you can see why she has such great staff. She is a lovely person who makes you feel like a friend not a guest. Always happy to chat and answer any questions or queries you may have.
If you do stay make sure you have a look in her boutique upstairs some beautiful caftans and jewellery are to be found!!
We stayed in the Kiad suite which was lovely and had a great big, very comfortable bed!!
Enjoyed gin and tonics up on the terrace after a crazy day in Marrakech before heading out to one of the great recommended restaurants.
On our last night we were lucky enough to have a meal cooked for us by the chef, Meriem, and it was one of the best meals we had in Morocco. The next morning we left before breakfast so Hicham and had fixed us a breakfast picnic bag, so thoughtful.
You will not be disappointed if you stay here it really is perfect!!

Hats off to Michelle and Grant. The Assakina is top rate. In a country where the service culture is so awful, it is amazing that they have managed to get such a great culture in the Riad. The staff, (Grant and Michelle included) couldn't do enough for you. Marrakech is a pretty hectic city and these guys managed to take the hassle out of our stay there.

The rooms have a couple of foibles (i agree with the reviewer that says that lamps are too big for the side tables and they could do with labelling the shower gel), but they are more than offset by the gorgeous decoration and thoughtful touches.

Not the cheapest place in the World, but would highly recommend.

I have no reservations in recommending Riad Assakina. As many other reviews stated, it is absolutely beautiful. The attention to detail in design and comfort is unbelievable. We felt so taken care of by Michelle, Grant and the rest of the staff. The food was incredible - fresh and deliciously prepared, and the pastries at breakfast were truly amazing as was the french toast! We had an excellent lunch one day as well. The guidebook that is provided in the room is full of excellent information, and Michelle's help with getting around was invaluable. They made appointments for us with a gorgeous nearby hammam and all of our dinner reservations. The roof top deck is gorgeous and relaxing, and the entire riad has a peaceful and luxurious feel. I didn't want to leave and I was so happy to get there after exploring the chaotic (but fun) streets of the city. The riad is also in a perfect location for sightseeing and shopping. Michelle and Grant truly care about the riad, their staff and maximizing the experience of their guests. They made our stay very special. Michelle's clothing, jewelry and houseware designs are also for sale in the riad's boutique, and she is truly talented. Local artisans are employed to execute her designs, and I bought some items which are beautiful, unique and of excellent quality. We cannot recommend this riad enough, you will be happy if you choose to stay here!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Merenid suite and loved it, I got to see the Almoravid suite and it is also gorgeou...

We stayed for 5 nights at Riad Assakina and I am so glad we did. Having the Riad to relax in away from the hustle and bustle of the city really made our holiday. Michele and Grant were wonderful hosts, making us feel like we were at home and provided fantastic advice on what to visit, where to eat, where to shop and made bookings/reservations for us which made it so easy. They really went out their way to make sure that we had a great stay in Marrakech. Even the pet cat was friendly when we made it home after a night out! It is like 5* service for 4* prices.
The special touches in the Riad which made it stand out were the nicely decorated rooms, lovely Moroccon breakfast, chocolates on the pillow at night, fruit in the room and mint tea and pastries as you return from a day out. That, and the beautiful roof top terrace to relax on, made this Riad a perfect place to stay.

Have just spent four wonderful days in Marrakech, staying at the Riad Assakina .
I can't begin to say what a fantastic place it is to stay . From the moment we arrived , Michelle
& her team made us feel so at home . The rooms are decorated with beautiful pieces of Moroccan art & are very comfortable & clean .
If you are thinking of going to stay in Marrakech for the first time (like ours) then i can not think
of a more fitting place to stay .
Calm, great service, you will be very happy & will not wan't to leave .
Enjoy!
