“A little gem of a Riad in the heart of Marrakech”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 March 2014

I've just returned from a 4 night stay at this Riad with two of my friends. It is located within walking distance of the main square but was a quiet location. Fantastic roof terrace with a view of the Atlas mountains in the distance and a great spot to watch the sun set. The breakfast each day was lovely, with homemade yoghurt and the breakfast varied from day to day. The staff were extremely firendly and helped us organise a trip out to the Ourika Valley.

We got a taxi from the airport which dropped us off outside the Palace and then the taxi driver arranged for a local to show us to our Riad, as it is set back off the main road, down alleys that are too narrow for a car. I think this is pretty typical when staying in any Riad, so don't be surprised when this happens and try to have some small change to tip the guy who shows you the Riad.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Marrakech and would highly recommend Riad Sidi Mimoune.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor, so easy access to the roof terrace.

Spent 4 days in Marrakech over Christmas staying at this Riad.

Positives:
Peaceful and Quiet - which was perfect for our stay.
Clean rooms - which the staff ensured stayed clean.
Friendly Staff - Apart from the language barrier, the staff were quite friendly, and if you spoke Arabic or French you would get extra attention.
Breakfast was decent, yet nothing special.
Location - Right in the heart of the old town, where we were able to experience proper Moroccan culture, and not too far from the Square so we were able to walk to and from the main square without using taxis.

Negatives:

Transfer to Hotel - We had arranged a transfer from the Airport with the hotel, which was basically a guy in a Car who dropped us off on the Main Road adjacent to the Royal Palace. We were told someone from the hotel would meet us at the drop-off point, only to find the driver leaving us with some local residents, who were instructed to escort us to our hotel. Which we were fine with, apart from the fact we were escorted to the incorrect hotel and had to ask for directions to our correct hotel.

Issues with the Hot Water - On our first morning, the Hot water was not working in our bathroom, after complaining to the hotel manager - Mohamed (who acted as if this wasn't a big deal) he refused to move us to another room which was located on the other side of the Riad, the side where the Hot Water was working, instead he asked us to temporarily move to another room, which hadn't been cleaned yet, to use the shower and go back to our room. We managed this, and understood that sometimes these things happen, but the attitude of Mohamed the manager was the real sticking point, no apologies or sympathy was offered to us. I know for a fact there was unoccupied rooms in the 'Good' part of the Riad, but for some reason he point-blank refused to move us.

Transfer to Airport - The Transfer back to the Airport which was supposed to have been arranged by the hotel, didn't happen. The bus arrived an hour before we were told it was going to arrive, so we missed our transfer to the airport.

Morocco is an amazing place to visit, Although this Riad had some positives, I certainly wont be going back for a second stay if i decide to visit Morocco again - there is better value for money out there.

We arrived there by Taxi from airport and is a bit difficult find it at first appearance, but oe there worth.
The welcoming was really warm, the offer you a tea and some tee pastes while you check in.
The building is pretty cool, a typical local House reconverted in Riad. The location is quite good, close to the touristic area, but at the same time far from noise and loud areas
The breakfast is included and is really yummy with local and typical food

Highly recommended

I just want to share couple of positive and some negative points
Positive points- I found that the location of this riad is great
There was a locker in the room which is very handy
Breakfast service is wonderful. Specially the yougurt they make and the pancake and english tea

Negative points- I dont know is it everywhere same or not but I stayed 7 nights in this riad and I used the same towels everyday. I didn't get fresh towels what I expected.
Also they didn't change the bed sheet and pillow covers during our stay.
Shower handle was broken and they didn't fix during our stay.
Their is no table and chair in the room.
Lighting of the room is a bit dim.

Room Tip: I stayed the room called 'Tan Tan' 1st floor. In the breakfast time you can hear people from...

Just enjoyed a most comfortable week here. The riad is beautifully decorated, with clean and comfortable rooms. I liked that it was a 10 minute walk to the craziness and bustle of the centre of the medina as it was an oasis of calm and quiet by contrast (the walk also being a good way to start and end the day). The staff were very helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic breakfasts too - every day freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade yoghurt and cakes or pancakes, fresh bread and jams. I ate my dinner at the riad most nights and enjoyed first-class homemade Moroccan food. The only downsides for me were that my room was chilly - perhaps to be expected in January, but a heater was provided so I didn't freeze! - and as I was on the ground floor it could be a bit noisy with guests passing by etc. I would stay here again for sure.

My friend and I spent about 10 days during winter in this cute Riad and it was nice all day long.
The (nice) staff serves a copious breakfast with different jam every morning, honey, tea, coffee, chocolate and a home made cake / crepes. Delicious! After the breakfast we often went to visit the city. It was easy to get around walking as the riad is closed to the main square. In the afternoon, we often came back to chill under the sun on the rooftop terrasse or inside on the couches. The space is clean and very cozy, perfect to relax.
In general, it was a good experience. But the negative points were the WiFi that was weak in our room and the beds that were hard (but we got used to it!).
A little note for people who just arrive in Marrakech and need to find the spot: for the first time, it is a little bit scary to find the riad as you need to go through dark and narrow streets. But after, it is fine!

Me and a friend stayed at this Riad. The people are very nice and the breakfast is great. The rooms are fine, nothing special, but the rooftop terrace is great, nice view! It is quite close to the main square and the area is quite good (next to a hospital and royal palace). I would
