Riad Papillon is a beautiful place, scented with oils to complete the atmosphere. We stayed in the Geranium room which was beautiful, compact but adequate. The attention to detail with the fittings was matched by the supremely attentive and friendly service. And the location was great, easily walkable to everything you'd want to see.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were extremely well looked after by Yassine and the girls. A delicious, freshly prepared meal was waiting for us and we were blown away by the prettiness of this riad. It is very quiet although just off the Medina and very handy for 'The Square'. Breakfasts were fine and showers hot. Take advantage of the mobile phone you will be offered just in case you get lost. For us, it came in very handy!

We stayed at Riad Papillon for one week in late January/early February in the Hibiscus room. We had a wonderful stay and Riad Papillon was the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech Medina, which could have otherwise been overwhelming. The staff were friendly and welcoming and provided excellent service. The Riad itself is beautifully furnished in a modern take on the traditional Marrakech style, with most of the decor sourced from the souks. The rooms themselves aren't huge (who'd expect that in a traditional townhouse?), but they are very comfortable and there are plenty of sitting areas throughout the Riad to accommodate all guests. Overall I can't recommend this Riad highly enough.

We booked transfers despite the fact the Riad is only a short distance from the airport and we were glad that we did because like most things within the Medina it was not easy to find first time! We were dropped off two minutes walk from the Riad and guided there by Jassine, who pointed out helpful landmarks to help us find our way back ourselves. Jassine also provided a mobile phone and a map and talked us through the main sights and how to get there before our first trip out.

We ate dinner at the Riad twice, including on the night we arrived. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and excellent value for money. In fact, I think the food we ate in the Riad was the best we had all holiday and was cheaper than eating in a mid-range restaurant. The local wine they serve is also excellent. Breakfast every morning was excellent and they are very flexible about where and when they serve it.

Yassine also arranged a trip for us to the foothills of the Atlas mountains and this was good. The driver was friendly, knowledgeable about the areas we visited and happy to let us have an additional stop at an out of town shopping centre on the way home. He also helped me haggle for purchases, which was much appreciated because it's very difficult to judge what a fair price may be.

Overall the Riad Papillon provided a relaxing, comfortable and welcoming retreat from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. We were there in the coldest week of the year and almost certainly didn't see the Riad at its best. Despite that our room remained warm throughout the night, and there was no need to use the heater provided. I'd love to return in warmer months when the courtyard covered is removed and the plunge pool and roof terrace would get more use.

Read many excellent reviews which led us to choose this riad, however the rooms Jasmine and Rose are very small and Jasmine had no where near enough space to hang clothes and the only space for suitcases was under the bed.We had to hang coats over the door as the tiny hanging space was too short and small.THERE IS ONLY ABOUT 30CM BETWEEN THE BED AND THE WALL so you have to shuffle along the wall to get into bed.The rooms are also very dark and the courtyard outside is covered with dusty plastic sheets for the rainfall making it even darker. The staff are very good but we found the accomodation lacked basic room space and was gloomy. The lighting is inadequate for reading in bed, telly barely worked( black and white only) and no internet connection for the whole week.

We had a fantastic time in Riad Papillon. From the airport transport to checkout it was a wonderful experience.

Yassine was extremely attentive and friendly and dealt with all of our annoying problems - like getting lost in the souks!

I felt safe and relaxed. Breakfast on the terrace was divine. Will definitely return!

We started our trip at the sister riad, the Cinnamon, so it was only fitting we ended at the Papillon. We'd experienced some highs and lows around Morocco, so it was with a sense of relief that the Papillon had the same air of calm escapism and luxurious comfort as the Cinnamon.

Attentive and helpful staff, luxury room, beautiful bathroom, tranquil atmosphere - they are all here. We ate out in the Jemaa-el-Fna for our last night, but breakfast was great.

Again, nothing was too much trouble, and we spent our last day in the Jardin Majorelle, and were still able to come back in the afternoon, use the room to freshen up and pick up our bags.

If I were pushed, there was just something about the Cinnamon which made it our perfect stay, but both that and the Papillon were our best accommodation in Morocco - you won't be disappointed with either.
