i went with 3 other girl friends and we had an amazing time. We had the Riad to ourselves the first night and day and felt really special. Its definately worth paying for the transfer from the aiport, really saves you the hassle of trying to find it ! We arrived thur eve and arranged to have dinner the 1st nite. What a treat ! The terrace was all lit up and really lovely. We had the Lamb Tagine which was delicous, definately recommend you have 1 meal here. Yassine was fantastic, he really looked after all of our needs. The mobile phone ideal is great. We actually used it on our first day after we wandered off the beaten track !!! He came and got us and it really was no bother at all.
The rooms were lovely, nice touches to it. Maybe a few things needed a bit of a touch up but nothing to complain about. They could do with a bit more shade on the roof terrace but again we were there when it was very hot.

We did the horse and carriage ride, definately recommended and a great way to see the sights. Make sure you visit the night market in the square, its crazy but good fun !

We would definately go back ! great place to go with family, group of friends.

A lovely riad in a great location. Yassine, Hakim and the wonderful ladies are very helpful. Make sure you enjoy at least one dinner at the riad itself - the food is fantastic (we also highly recommend Libzar as another restaurant to try as well as La Maison Arabe, which also has a fantastic hammam that Yassine can book you into).

We liked it so much that we cut our trip in Ourzazate short by one day and snuck back for another night at Riad Papillon. We enjoyed the Bougainvillea room for the first part of our trip (chosen b/c of the pretty colours) and then had an upstairs room (which was slightly larger) for our last day.

Stayed here for two nights, over all it was a pleasant stay, lovely room ( jasmine) the bed was a small fit but that didnt bother us, it had a lovley spacious bathroom. Also really liked the fact the windows had glass not all riads do so had a bit extra sound proofing.
The decor is particualry pretty and striking in the court yard but I would have liked the candles round the pool to be lit for that extra sparkle. I thought a few more flowering plants on the roof terrace would have been nice.
We have stayed in 5 riads now in Marrakech, I would definalty place this one way above the 1st two we stayed in, but below the other two by a margin. I dont know where the owners live but it lacked that personal touch, it felt like they werent there. I would also have liked a dvd player in the room with perhaps a libray of things to watch as the Tv was limited in chanels, we had been travelling since 2am on arrival and it would have been lolvey to relax and watch some films in bed.

We were told the riad had 24 hour service but when in pigoen french I asked if it was Ok to have some food at three in the afternoon, the ladies face fell and she looked really dissapointed. Anything would have been fine and she did rustle me something up but a piece of bread would have done me, i just didnt know if it was possible if she had said no, I could have got some crisps from the local shop. All the staff however were lovely but I think they are in all the riads - I think morrocans have wonderful hospitalty and warmth.
This was the only riad we stayed in on this trip that served egss, not much of a quanity but there were no eggs offered elsewhere at all! We had the meal on the first night and it was delicous ( lamb tagine) and good value. The location was really good, cafe arab is lovley go to the roof terrace if you are near there. Some really lovley shops and stalls on the way to the main square.

very good location, staff very helpful, staff met us at the taxi drop off and walked us to the riad, Mobile phones allocated to each of the party to be able to phone the riad if we got lost or required any help, very reassuring when visiting as the medina is a rabbit warren of streets, Lovely shopping and didn't feel intimidated. No signs of the past troubles, Lovely time, Mint tea and coffee available on request at the riad, all rooms equipted with tv, ipod docking station and hairdier, always very welcome, only downside if you can call it a downside was that showers where only very luke warm at the best, usually luke warm, even though we staggered the time of day we showered. Have spoke to manager/owner who has said this will be resolved in the next couple of months, as it ws due to the lovely weather a cool shower was all that was necessary. Beds where very hard but due for refurbishment. staff arranged a lovely day out for us to go to the atlas mountains with a driver for the day and negotiated a good price as we went to other area not usually on the atlas mountains day trip tour. Lovely holiday and we would love to come back again, thank you again for a lovely holiday.

Much of what I'd say has already been said. This is a great place to stay:comfortable and a comparatively easy walk through the souks to the Square. Our room was delightful and perfect for the week long stay..I mean just how much luggage do you want to lug to Marrakech? A realxing oasis in the middle of the narrow alley ways and magical crush of the souks. We were really well looked after by Yassine and the girls. A lovely breakfast on the terrace destroying the diet and we ate in by choice most nights as the food (beware enormous portions!) was excellent. HIghly reccomended and very telling that at the end of the ramble around the city.we'd consider ourselves to be returning ..home.

Riad Papillon is really a fantastic little place, wonderful staff & really warm, friendly & attentive, especially the guys that pick you up from the gates, and generally look after you while you're there. Bit of a rabbit warren in the Medina (which is part of the charm), so really great to come back to this Riad and put your feet up on the terrace or have a quick kip in the lovely room before hitting the streets at night. All in all, beautifully decorated, quiet & restful, friendly & great value for money.

After much review of several Riads we eventually booked 4 days here for a group of 11 and were not disappointed! The Riad itself is very nice and seems to be very typical and traditional in design, some of the rooms were a little narrow, but there will still very large and had plently of hanging space, a safe and fridge and each had it's own bathroom.

There was plenty of room and the place was very clean and tidy, the whole Riad was well decorated and each room had it's own character. There was plenty of seating areas on each floor and room for us all even when we were all in the same area. The place has a very welcoming and homely feel to it and plenty of books and little games lying around which kept the kids quiet!

The breakfast was nice and fresh and kept us going, there was also something different every day, it was all freshly prepared and served every morning on a time that suited us. Overall we found the staff in the hotel very friendly and polite and couldn't do enough for us. Yassine seemed to be on site 24/7 and was an invaluable source of information, he provided us with some phones in case we needed them, a map and endless directions, he would sometimes walk with us and point us in the right direction which was nice. He also gave advice on what to do and where to go and prices on taxi's etc too.

The location of the Riad is down a typical quiet alley and there is some small shops and markets nearby, there is a little grocery shop and bakery within minutes which is handy too. There is also an exchange, taxi rank and a few restaurants within a 5 minute walk as well. The location also seemed to be handy enough if you wanted to come back during the day, recharge and then head back out.

The Riad had free wifi which came in handy as well, also we were allowed to use the kitchen as we needed which was handy for warming milk for the baby in the group. There was also the use of an iron, but the staff insisted on doing the ironing for you!

Some general tips on Marrakech, personally I would ensure you had a minimum 4 days there as there is a lot to see and do. Barter hard with taxi drivers, but even short distances cost a minimum of 40dhs. We booked a day trip and airport transfers through a driver called Jalil, details are on the Marrakech forum somewhere, prices seemed fair and it was worth doing especially for a large group. Don't worry too much about getting lost there is plenty of locals boys about to point you in the right direction, but they will want a little cash!
