No problems with the Hotel at all, stayed May 2014 with my wife for a week. Location is probably the only draw back with surrounding areas outside the complex in need of development which I am sure will come. Staff all faultless, grounds beautiful and well maintained, gardeners who actually use physical labour. Breakfast, Lunch and Evening dining areas are fine but would agree with previous reviewers that the buffet style gives a canteen feeling to rooms that are actually very smart. The quality and variety of food was excellent, but when you eat three times a day anywhere would eventually get tedious because it's certainly not my usual regime, but you do have a choice. Drinks fine Whiskey, Beer and Wine all good, cocktails from the Bar opposite reception were not good, Alcohol content questionable, try the weekly Managers cocktail evening and you realise what was missing. Went on four trips, to the Cascades Of Ouzoud lot of steps to negotiate but good day, Essaouira on the coast long 12 hour day but great, Marrakech Discovery full day and good, Atlas Mountains in 4x4 morning and lunch fine, poor afternoon though and back at the hotel just after 4.00pm this trip needs more content. If I could transport this hotel to a better location with more places of interest it would be a pleasure to return, both my Wife and myself thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The hotel manager eats with the guests regularly and is always very visible and monitoring operations. He in turn is monitored by all the female guests because apparently he is drop dead gorgeous.

Just got back after a week at the Riu Tikida Palmeraie. I agree with most if the positive reviews.

Staff throughout the hotel are friendly, personable and helpful. The food was high quality overall. Fresh, hot and plentiful.

The rooms are large modern comfortable and clean. If you decide to stay in the TV has Sky News, BBC world and True Drama. There is also a film channel.

The drinks are plentiful. The local brandy was nice as is the beer. All of the wine served is local but of a good standard.

The free shuttle bus into Marrakech centre takes about 20 minutes and must be booked in advance. It's a modern comfortable coach and the driver is very helpful. The journey through the Marrakech traffic is an experience in itself.

There is an element of reserving the sunbeams in the morning...but this seems the same everywhere

Most of the guests are either UK or a French.

The duo that provide some of the entertainment were of a high standard.

The only improvement would be to increase the coverage if WiFi to the rooms. It is free and works well but only in the reception area.

If you go into the Souks (you must) just remember to be polite but firm if you don't want to buy.

You will get some people offering to show you the way. Unless you are desperate ignore them. They only want to charge you to get you back to the square.

Overall, the hotel is very good and we will certainly return.

Visited Riu Tikida Palmerie at the end of April after a recommendation. Could not fault the hotel, room on ground floor very clean, bottles of water left in room every day along with fresh towels and fresh sheets. We tried all three restaurants and could not fault the food, plenty of variety, freshly cooked fish, chicken or red meat. Also choice of pasta or moroccan tagines, salads, deserts and ice cream. Breakfasts very good with plenty of choice, eggs cooked several ways, sausage, bacon, fresh fruits, yoghurts and cereals.
The gin and tonic was very nice along with the white wine which was very drinkable. Coffee from the bars was exceptional. Had one cocktail but not for me but lots of people seemed to be loving them.
Staff were very friendly and could not do enough to help. Always polite.
Had to get up early to get the good sunbeds but could always find one if not. The fantastically big swimming pool was quite cold at first but fine when actually in it (I would think in the high summer that would be a big bonus). Enjoyed aquafit but mainly spent relaxing, lots of activities to join in if wanted.
We went when it was particularly busy so it was quite noisy at the pool area and its a shame they do not have an area for adults only. The same in the restaurants I personally think there should be an adults only area in the dining room.
Entertainment not really for us mainly catering to families, although two male singers by the pool area on an evening were very good.
Used the shuttle bus to go the the souks and main square but have to book in advance but worth the trip.
Overall loved the hotel, staff and especially the weather, will definitely visit Marrakech again, hopefully soon.

Having booked several holidays with Thomson previously and whilst being in the process of buying a house we trusted the cheaper spectrum of what they have to offer. It is imperative to remember that we only paid £460 each for flights and accommodation, transfers and all inclusive but the standard of this hotel is far from great.

Pros
Cheap with a short flight time and transfer time
Good weather with an early sunrise and late sunset
Grounds are very well kept and beautiful - walk round the concrete path surrounding the hotel
Free wifi in reception which is quite quick when not at peak times
Lots of sun loungers and areas with a large pool
Free and regular shuttle buses to the central plaza
The market, souks etc are GREAT and well worth visiting. Lots to see, buy, eat and do.
Fairly decent gym which says it opens at 9am but was open at 7am when we went

Cons
We changed rooms after one night - the bed was harder than concrete!! and although we requested a double bed not on the ground floor we got a twin room on the ground floor. Changed to 3104 and was much better! Bed still not comfortable but was ok.

Checking in process is long winded and especially when you arrive past midnight and have to wait half an hour for your luggage to be delivered to your room - take your own luggage and don't wait for a porter!!

Why do we have to all wear ridiculous bands when everyone is on all inclusive? This i do not understand.

A lot of sun loungers were being painted and therefore roped off which wasn't ideal when the hotel was apparently full

Lack of service - at no point does this hotel offer you a service for drinks and food. You have to get all drinks yourself and all food. Not the end of the world but small things make a big difference.

Food - now this is sore point for me as I work in the catering/hospitality industry but my god this is HORRENDOUS. The food is on a buffet system which is fine but why not have at least one a la carte restaurant where there is an opportunity to up-sell is beyond me.
Now i love to eat but the fact that i would rather miss dinner than eat the buffet shows quite a lot. There was never any variety, there is no 7 day cycle, there is the same food every day which Im sure is recycled daily until its finished. I can guarantee you that for lunch there will be paninis, pizza, chips, tagine, couscous, salad and soup. Whilst the flavours may or may not change there will be no new items. Now late lunch which is 3:30- 5:30 is simply a skeleton service of lunch, basically all the leftovers and no cooking stations are open. Dinner is more of the same, pretty much the same hideous food. I have NO IDEA why they bother having an Italian and Moroccan restaurant as both cuisines are available in the main buffet. Obviously some people appreciate this kind of food - i'm not sure who this says more about. I heard one couple saying the steak was tasty - it wasnt steak it was fish!!! Anyway I am glad i bought 2 toblerones from duty free as this was my dinner most nights. Its not very often you come back from holiday having lost weight but as I refused to eat the food after a few days it is easy to see why!! I was grateful when i got to eat food in the centre of town -anything to avoid the godforsaken buffet!!!!!!!

Night time in the hotel is pretty diabolical so we were thankful to play cards and have a few drinks on our balcony.

All in all, we have to remember that this holiday was cheap and what we got for our money (apart from the food) was great. Flights, transfers, clean and acceptable accommodation, SUNSHINE, gym, culture and a week off work!!

I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone unless you arent bothered by crap food!!!

Sorry to sound so negative but food is a big factor in my eyes!!

Room Tip: I would recommend asking for a double bed in advance - not included otherwise! I would also ask for...

I must say I was incredibly pleasantly surprised by this hotel and holiday. Due to the price I doubted the quality and overall service and facilities there would be.

Staff
As previous reviews have said the staff were all so friendly, chatty and polite. On arrival late in the eve cocktails were waiting for us and the restaurant was kept open. Porter took our cases to our room without any prob.
Animation staff all really friendly and not pushy. They work very hard and do an evening show most eves which was varied but easy watching.

Rooms
The rooms are big and airy and the air conditioning worked well. The beds are big and perfectly comfortable.

Pool
The pool was lovely and very big. It was not cold at this time of year as the weather was 30 to 37c every day end of april beg of May. Im afraid the is the common habit of ppl reserving sunbeds by putting towels on in the morn. But is pretty standard at most hotels nowadays! There are lots of beds, cushioned beds, parasols, shaded areas to choosr from.
Theres a number of bars and self service drinks machines all around the pool.

Food
I always found something I liked to eat at all meals. I also really liked the Morrocan restaurant and Italian and need to book in advance.

Drinks
I really liked the red wine and cocktails. The cocktails were sometimes weak or without alcohol but can of course ask for a shot to be added in. Bar staff are very friendly and helpful!! The main bar is very nice and comfy and often discretely has football on the tv.

Trips
The Thomson reps I went through are brilliant and I went on 2 trips. We did the fill discovery day of the souks and medina which is a long day but fascinating and a hassle free way of exploring.
Also the atlas mountains trip which included a trip to the burber villages and having mint tea in a locals house!
Both were great full days experiences and cost about £70pp each and included a nice lunch.

I would go again and would recommend this holiday for someone wanting good value for money, a vibrant destination, spacious attractive hotel with great weather!

I had booked a 1 week stay at the 4* club hotel rui tikida palmeraie as a friend had recommended it however was sadly disappointed with the overall hotel that I checked out 2 days early to stay elsewhere. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and well kept and the garden suite was a great size and nicely clean. That's where the positives end - the music from the entertainment was so loud on day 1 that it meant any form of relaxation was impossible. After complaining to the duty manager, it did improve however there was still the regular blast from the morning aqua aerobics session which was still very loud. The food in the restaurant is very plain and you have to book well in advance to get into the Moroccan themed restaurant. All the restaurants are inside and have you feeling like you are eating dinner in a school canteen with little atmosphere. On day 3, there were a number of sections of the pool area closed off for maintenance with no explanation and when i enquired at reception she had no idea of what was going on. It turned out they needed to repaint the umbrella posts so sunbathing while smelling paint was not particularly pleasant and was poorly handled by the hotel staff. This is a great hotel is you do not mind being one of the masses of guests however if you want a genuine morocco feeling and some peace and quiet for relaxation, I would definitely NOT recommend staying here.

Returned from this wonderful hotel on; 06/05/2014 after spending a week there with my wife for our anniversary. I am struggling to find anything bad to say about it, which is extremely rare for me! We are not really 'All Inclusive' people, however, we have stayed at others in the past and this hotel ranks alongside any of them. FOOD; Excellent, varied, hot, tasty - eat as much as you want at all sittings. Drinks; Local beer, wine and spirits (all taste fine). They do a cocktail night and champagne is included on this! STAFF; Everyone cannot do enough to make sure that your holiday is absolutely the best it could be - fantastic! They do not stop cleaning and tidying either - very well run hotel. One early review stated that the hotel was like a 'well oiled machine' - concur 100%. The hotel is massive - huge grounds in which to walk and everything is well kept and pretty. When not visiting Marrakech, we spent the majority of our time sunbathing by the vast pool...It was very busy whilst we were there, however, the pool team will get you a bed! The pool is cold at first, but you will warm up once in - not a problem as other posts suggest. Get up early if you wish to reserve a particular spot/ bed - all the good spots always seemed to be reserved - and we went for breakfast at 7am!!!! Free bus takes you into town - very relaxed and punctual. We visited the town 3/4 times - some interesting sights - enjoy!!!!! I won't comment on the entertainment - we stayed 5 minutes on the first night - just not our cup of tea that's all. We found relaxing by the pool bar much better where they have live music on.
TIP - If travelling with kids, request a ground floor garden room - they will love it!
