“Excellent and Quiet Riad in Marrakech”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

We have stayed in this Riad for 5 nights and we have been really happy to do so. The riad is in a quiet and authentic area of the Marrakech medina. 15 mins walk to Djemaa el-Fnaa square and 5 min to the wonderful Badi palace where a lot of Storks have their nests!

The riad is very beautiful and authentic inside: two nice courtyards (one with orange trees and one with a little plunge pool), cosy, space-full and clean rooms and... a wonderful big terrace where you can have your breakfast while enjoying the sun (even in December!) Also, we felt very safe. It's located in the middle of some small streets, not easy to get the first time, so just ask for help when booking.

Last but not least, the owner Moutaa was very kind and available to fulfill all our preferences. The staff was also very kind, polite and helpful. They definitely make the difference, in good!

If you are looking for an enjoyable stay in Marrakech, in a quiet area which is close but not in the middle of the touristic chaos, choose this riad, you will not regret!

What is not to love about Riad Chamali? If you are looking for somewhere authentic and pretty to stay, where the staff are delightful and the manager, Moutaa, cannot do enough for you, which represents excellent value for money and leaves you with a warm feeling in your heart, then look no further. Riad Chamali will be for you.

About the Riad : as you make your way through the back streets to the Riad you will initially doubt your choice, BUT, the minute you step through the front door you enter a turquoise and white oasis of calm. The warm staff will welcome you with tea and pastries as you sit by the small plunge pool in the courtyard. Your room will be charming, simply appointed and clean, the bathrooms supplied with decent thick towels, the lovely Sens des Marrakesh bath and hair products and plenty of hot water! Breakfast can be taken in the courtyard, lounge area or on the pretty roof terrace with its views of the Atlas Mountains in the distance. On request you can also eat you main meal in the Riad - it will be delicious. So, if that is not enough to tempt you, the most impressive part of the Riad is its staff, led by the wonderful Moutaa. Moutaa simply cannot do enough for her guests. You immediately feel you have become one of her old friends, she will give you top recommendations for everything from restaurants and spas to what you should be paying for your souvenirs in the souks. Nothing is too much trouble. Moutaa is backed up by a small dedicated team who whilst will not understand your English, will always help with a smile and good grace.

Location: the Riad is situated a 7 minute walk from the Cozy Bar and the spice souk, 15 minutes walk from the main square and also the Kasbah. You will welcome being slightly away from the madness at the end of each day. It is a short taxi ride to the Hivernage area. I would recommend you ask Moutaa to arrange any taxis you require throughout your stay, including to/from the Airport.

I will be returning to Riad Chamali later this year and we are also looking at taking over the entire Riad for a group holiday.

A beautiful Riad which is a 10 minute walk from the Souks. Beautifully decorated. What really makes this Riad is the hospitality and service which comes in the form of Moutaa - "L'ange de Marrakech!!
Moutaa runs this beautiful Riad and is perfect in every way, she is so helpful, she organises absolutely everything with a very big smile, she has a generous heart and gives the best advice!!
We are definitely going there next year - the best place to stay at an affordabel rate.

Warm welcome with tea and cookies. Beautiful decorated rooms and great service! Delicious food. Unfortunately, the riad is not located in the centre. For 2 girls travelling alone, the last 150meter is not really pleasant because of the kids (boys between 8-12) who hang around the riad. They try to touch you and beg for money.

I stayed in this riad with my fiance for 1 week and we had a wonderful time. The riad is clean, the rooms are not too big but just perfect for a couple. The serivice of the staff is really good, Habiba and Mustafa are very friendly and thank you Moutaa for all the great tips.
The breakfast every day was freshly made and the staff woke and made us breakfast when we checked out at 6 am in the morning. That was very kind.

The location is just perfect, it's about 15 minutes walk from the famous square djema3 lfna and it's a nice walk with plenty of things to see. We had dinner 1 night in the riad and it was really good, the salads that we got as a starter were all so nicely made. Freshly made tea every time you sit down in the yard, just perfect.
We have absolutly nothing bad to say about this riad, it's nice and calm after a day of busy Marrakech. Everything was perfect for the price you pay for it.

We stayed at the riad for 4 nights and were very pleased by the very friendly owner Moutaa. She speaks english very well and helped us with everything; she arranged a car for us to rent, she brought us to the train station and arranged the tickets for us etc. On top of that the riad is beautiful, very light and clean and located in a quiet area close to the old city center. Swimming pool is awesome. Staff don't speak english, but this made us even feel more abroad. Once again thanks!
